Dear Anet,
First: My english isn’t perfect.
But i will try to speak/write right.

Thank you for this game but i don’t agree with your Nerf on the Elementalist Skill “Ride the Lightning”.
20 seconda cooldown are.. right. But 40 seconds cooldown are not okay and too high. I think most Players of the Elementalist love this skill so why do you change it?? I don’t ubderstand it because Ranger and Warrior have an skill like this too and don’t get changes.

The other changes are okay! But please think about it.

The 40 seconds was a reasonable change and heres why.

Before, ele’s could simply rtl out of sticky situations, and due to the low cd it was practically uncatchable. As a running tactic, it was too good.

Now, you can still get that low cd but as an offensive skill. If you plan ahead, you can run towards another fight with rtl, escaping your previous fight, and still have the 20 sec cd (asuming you hit them). And yeah, you’re immune to slows in rtl… the only dash in the entire game that is immune to slows, you have it sooo bad…

An Ranger or Warrior or Thief can better run away as an Ele. For sPvP okay. But for PvE and WvWvW not. Maybe 30 seconds would be perfect. 40 seconds are too high.

& yet my ranger can leap 1100 every 12 seconds & also has range/melee options, range giving another 1200-1500 targetting. (also a pet that out ranges that by miles, literally ;p)
My Necro could outrun Ele` easily before with Spectral & speed signet & also has range 1200 & melee swap. Now it can even more so.
Warriors the same, actually think even faster.
Thieves are fastest in game & also have ranged/melee swap & high damage output.

Ele` has melee Or range, if using D/D you`re now at 40 seccond cd if anyone blinks, dodges, blocks, moves to one side & the pathing says kitten it, let`s head to some wall etc because let`s face it, RTL is the biggest telegraphed spell in the game.

Not everyone used it for escape, but why shouldn`t they?
Lowest hp isn`t always made up for what once were great heals.

Some of us used it to catch up with anyone & their gran that could kite, because, you guessed it, no range ;p

40 seconds I bet was put in because of spiritwatch, but even in there it bugs out so much it has kittened us over….

You can be stopped in RTL, which is worse then slows ;p, I`ve had it happen plenty of times.
RTL puts you with no spells, anyone else can still go pew pew.

Yes, this skill is nice and much guys love it. But only because its unslowable it get a 40seconds cooldown? Anet did not a good job by ‘fixing’ this. And i think they should to revise this.

And indeed Milo (second post) rtl ignores slows… Rush and any other warrior spells dont ignore it.
also its primary for gap closing, not escape (rush also but it hits almost never or even worse you just keep walking against someone while doing nothing)

I`d rather have spells on the bar to protect/attack then none at all. The best they could of done is put a cancel on the RTL bar, insted of sod all

RTL may be close to teleports, but unlike Lightning Flash, Shadowsteps or wtk thieves use, Mesmer teleport etc, RTL doesn`t remove the immobilize, it just leaves you stuck as a fuzzy ball of useless static

Hitting a (forgot how it’s called) bunny or something like that, while it doesn’t put you in combat, it does count as a hit and gives you the 20 sec cd

I didn`t state gap closers allow you to heal, I`m stating that you can heal, pewpew or whatever either at same time or if you weapon swap or wtk you want.

Ele` as I`ve stated can`t do any of that.

But it stands that if one class, that being the Ele` got over 100% nerf in a few weeks, then why should any other class that has the same ability, albeit better, not be nerfed also?

I`ve no problem with Rush etc not being affected by slows, that is Anets problem, but Warriors do have Shake it off

Ele` RTL nerf was stupid & then some, to the point in WvWs & sPvP if someone is running from me, I know that RTL will probably fail or not catch up or bug & even if on a straight run & I can catch up, they can still easily outrun Ele`..

Also wtk does having good condition removal do if you can`t attack back? ;p

Haha. So we take a your favorite Skill and it gets a 263637829 second cooldown. And then?
This nerf is unfair, because other classes have the same Skill but didnt get a nerf. And when someone dodge or bug or what else you get a 40 second cool down. And that’s not balanced :P

that is one of the reasons. d/d ele could get to enemy far points quickly as a bunker build and effectively prevent several people from capping their own node.

another reason is they could disengage from any fight (remember, not affect from slows) that wasn’t going well for them and heal up, then re-engage or leave as they pleased. now they can still do this but half as often.

Not just PvP, but also WvW. And traveltime is a big, big thing in WvW. The only way a zerg moves is with organized use of swiftness.

But it’s ok when nearly every class can disengage from an ele now if they want?

Disengage from the class that has the best access to boons and the best heals? Yeah, that’s probably a good thing. After all, most people would just run away rather than try to re-engage a fight that they just lost.

And the developers have been saying for a while now that they wanted Eles to be mobile, but not that mobile. They were the most mobile class. That was something they wanted for the Thief.

And honestly, a 1200 range skills that is not affected by movement impairing skills is barely different from a teleport. Comparing it to something like Rush, which is bugged already, isn’t exactly fair.

I`d place Anets business on the nerf due to either the new map that has orb (despite rtl can bug out in that map more then others lol) or that players complained that they couldn`t stop them in WvWs.

The WvWs part is probably due to the criers, the amount of times I`ve gone into there (in past, don`t bother any more, waste of time) & not one of them has stunned/immobilised me & plenty afterwards grouped me to say “why runqq” etc

The “We don`t whack-a-mole nerf” crap that Anet lied about has proven itself big time, RTL is the only escape/catch-up spell that has been nerfed over 133% (someone correct figures?) within any time at all, but to also do the no heals or utilities or elites when in mist, is just kittened & showing their cluelessness.

Warriors require 30 points into Discipline to get a trait that gives 3% damage per boon on your enemy. Most warrior players don’t consider the extra damage against bunkers, who run with Protection anyway, to be worth the investment.

Thieves get boon stealing on Sword/Dagger. This means they sacrifice tons of damage. And even then, unless we’re talking boons with long durations, it’s not that useful. Best that I’ve managed was taking like 14 stacks of Might from an ele. The chain for Larcenous takes 4 initiative, so it’s not like they can just rip all the boons off, as that would leave them without stealth. And the top boons to remove would be Stability and Protection, both of which are usually applied in short durations but frequently, thus making stealing them useless.

Ah, had forgotten they`d put it in a silly 30 point for warriors, almost as dumb as Ele` only 20 pointer for fall damage (when they finally gave us it ;p)

Way I see it, have you ever been Moa`d?
There is feck all you can do, they even made the “oh shizz I must Moa run” spell lower escape, yet you`re not allowed to use stun breakers etc.

NOW it’s more unbalanced the before the nerf. Yes Bunker Ele
WAS hard to fight against but now its a joke. The other changes are right but 40 second cooldown destroys a little bit the gameplay of Elementalist.

Whereas Ele` now has the worst or second worst mobility & non stealth, I`d change to stealth if we were given the option.

This is just one of those threads posted by an ele who wish they could go back to stomping anyone with little ease.

Not gana fully agree 40 seconds was a justified change but something had to be done. D/D ele was just too kitten good at the moment. The whole idea of nerfs/buffs is to allign all professions on the same field, which rtl (among other things) is necessary.

You may not get the same mobility as a thief, but you will have options to get aroud. You may not have the sustain as guardian but you will have options to negate/recover damage. It’s not an easy task when you’re talking about 8 professions trying to accomplish the same goal.

At times, I wish ele were just flat out removed. I get kitten annoyed by them and this is post-patch. People need to adjust, and improvise. They are just gana be annoying forever but so are many other professions (I got jumped in wvw by 2 80’s (not upleveled) on my level 8 necro and survived for atleast 20 seconds till my group came back to support me and scared them off).

I’d say balance is a few adjustments away imo. It’s not perfect just yet but it’s managable.

First: I am not an Ele. I play only Mesmer. Want an Twink and without this nerf i would make one to 100%. But now i am think about it because the gameplay is not the same like before. ( played one for months ).

Second: This nerf was too high. 40seconds are not okay. You can’t find arguments for so ad drastic nerf.

I played a lot with my ele and it was great. I had a lot of fun in PvE but now it sucks, it’s boring now… Arenanet should know that after changing RTL most elementalists will stop playing and start with another profession.
Warrior for example is much faster now… yes RTL ignores slow but savage leap does too and after that warriors can easily escape with shake it off + rush as already said.
And I don’t want to play the “Where is the next rabbit so I don’t get outrun by other professions”-game all the time. Thats a stupid solution -.-

Having quit WvWs (partially because it isn`t worth a ten minute trip across map to tag a mob, mostly because it got tedious fast), I`ve been in spvp.

Previously I assumed the idiotic RTL nerf was because of the new “Spirit carry the orb” map, but have seen worse today.

Rangers can use the GS 1100 range leap & it doesn`t seem affected by carrying the orb.

Anyone know if other classes do or don`t?

So now this only leaves me to think the usual, Idiotnet at their best ;p

Just RTL to critters and problem is solved, I don’t have any problem using it after the nerf. You still have so many possibilities, it is hard to get killed. I usally switch to water and cast 4 + 5 + dodge to clear all my conditions and get full hp, then teleport away and switch to air, RTL is usually not needed at this point anymore since with PTV gear I’m pretty hard to kill anyways, but when this is needed I use it to get to some neutral monster or even better critter, you still have 20s cd and you can continue your escape.

Instead of QQ that this nerf is too much, you just adapted.

I do wish that Anet will fix the hit mechanics. I think they are bugged for all rushes and classes.
