RvR Ranks For WvWvW a way for it to be endgame

Also, I’d prefer that people play WvWvW because they want to play WvWvW, not because they turn WvWvW into a “I’ve got better gear/higher level than you” game.
The whole point of WvWvW is that everyone’s on equal footing, modulo gear, and even gear is maxed out after a while.
people will still want to play no matter what stop trying to troll or go back to wow
if you read i dont want it to be about gear i want it to be about skill you add gear then this is like wow your only good cause of gear. my system makes it more of skill
and sorry that is bs cause if you are 80 in WvW and you fight someone that is 1-70 you will 3 shot them so dont come at me with that till you know what you are talking about

Yes, daoc had RR system, it was fantastic, lot of people loved it, lot of players in GW2 agree with you on implementing something like this, opening 2 threads regarding same thing in 24 hours probably won’t help it’s cause, I recommend posting on original thread to keep lively convo going
I’m all for anything that resembled DAOC’s Realm Point system. It’s still my favorite “casual” (non full loot and stuff) PvP system of any game.
What’s funny about that is back then, no one called it a grind. It was just an amazing PvP progression system. If they had the exact system in this game, I guarantee the vocal masses on this forum would consider it the “Realm Rank Grind” and would complain about how it takes two years of solid PvP to reach Realm Rank 10 and how it’s unfair to have to fight people who are higher rank. It’s so ridiculous now.
We can only hope that Anet sticks to their vision and doesn’t listen to the vocal minority and realizes there are many more playing and loving WvW and don’t have complaints to post.
When you play WvW you get Honor Badges, money, loot, karma, xp, gathered mats. Hate to break it to you man but the rewards in WvW are the same as PvE. Literally exactly the same.
In fact in PvE you get tokens for killing dungeon bosses. In WvW you get tokens by killing kitten. At the moment they do not have much you can buy for these just 1 skin but I am sure they will offer more stuff over time.

This is definitely true for me, I have 1000+ badges sitting in my bag and 150k karma doing nothing, I just buy siege with them. I am hoping ANet gives players ability to purchase commander with badges, otherwise it seems like it’s just taking up bagspace

Yes, this is a discussion forum. People will in fact disagree with you here. I happen not to like the idea of turning WvWvW into something it isn’t. It’s fun as it stands. You’re trying to redesign the endgame before the vast majority of people have even hit endgame.

You do know that GW2 “endgame” gear is about skins right. You use those badges to buy skins. Its no different in PvE or Structured PvP.
You already get rewarded for winning in WvW by getting money, karma, XP and loot. The rewarding system is balanced.

Game just came out I am sure they will offer more gear skins to purchase down the road. You should be happy to have 1000+ badges, means you can buy a whole lot of siege without spending valuable monies.

You can buy 80 gear if you want. Its about the skin though really. Just like the gear you buy with the PvE Dungeon tokens. Its about the skin!
You can get Exotics for 2-3g each or craft them very easily. Best way to do it is craft them rather then waste the tokens on it. If you like the WvW skin then by all means buy it and skin the crafted gear since it looks like plain. Imo the badges are better spent on siege. That actually saves you money.

You can’t possibly call WvWvW boring already. Lopsided? Perhaps. But again, the matchmaking system hasn’t had enough time to settle on a stable set of server groupings. The lopsidedness of the groupings will disappear over time.

One of the reasons I bought GW2 was because they stated they would NOT add additional layers of grind to the PvP except for cosmetic things. This is done purposely so that causuals and new players will never feel like they can’t catch up. Also if players take a break from the game they will not fall behind.
I can only hope ANet politely ignores suggestions like these and sticks to their core design philosphies as these are what make GW2 unique.
While these design decisions are not popular with everyone their is a large loyal playerbase that does appreciate it. Becoming a grindy MMO would be a big mistake and place in them in the dime a dozen category of MMOs.

RR in daoc was game breaking, it doesn’t have to be for GW2. I think what you mean to say was you don’t want PvP grind where it drastically affect player stats. I agree with you on that completely, I don’t want having MoC from RR in daoc to be ‘the end’ for casters or some ridiculous RR ability you get just to be competitive

I agree with the poster above you: I don’t want to see something like that in GW2. WvWvW is about serverwide accomplishment, not individual accomplishment. And I don’t want to see another grind added into WvWvW, nor any mechanism that allows individuals in WvWvW to become more powerful than an existing 80 with exotics.
If people want to grind for cosmetic differences in WvWvW, that already exists today, and will likely be expanded over time.
Great, we’re all in agreement for WvWvW reward shouldn’t give additional stats/abilities to players.
This is what I would love to see in this game related to RvR ranks
- Cosmetic gear per rank
- Titles
- Website that display top contributor (Not rank) or guild per week for battlegroup(?)
I don’t think it’s enough for players to have just serverwide accomplishment, there needs to be some sort of individual accomplishment reward for WvWvW no matter how trivial that may be.
