Just a suggestion – perhaps it may prove valuable in empowering the players when dealing with gold spammers.

The idea being if a player gets reported for spamming “X” number of times, that player is automatically kicked and their account is locked pending GM review (we could even consider a first strike warning). I’m fairly certain this would greatly deter the spammers from continuing to blast general chat. I also think the risk in this feature’s misuse isn’t great either; as any players who intends on abusing this feature will certainly have their accounts on record and can find themselves in their own ban.

Agree, Also, an update needs to be added that gives a unique ID to every installed games, sort of like they do with other games to track purchases. A person caught gold selling should have their IP banned, MAC address banned, Account Banned, Hardware Banned, and UID Banned.

@runeblade – obviously this solution doesn’t solve every use case, but I would like to say it’s a step in the right direction.

If we can restrict them from advertising publicly, we make gold purchasing less accessible to those whom would likely purchase it from the gold farmers, which would take a toll on the gold spammers pockets, which would make them less likely to hack GW accounts since they’re less profitable.

Will it solve the problem with accounts being hacked right now? No. But we’d hope that this would help out in the end game.

I’ve basically been suggesting this for days, and so I agree ai the OP.

All accounts should have a report threshhold. The way it would work is that every player starts with say 25 – 50 “points.” Each time a player is reported for something, (botting, spamming, exploiting, language, etc) by another player, they lose one point.

If the player loses all points, the account is either locked, or limited, pending ANet review.

This would very quickly weed out problem players. Players who casually get reported for things would eventually reach the threshhold, and find themselves under review, but the average player who may get reported a few times due to error, or by someone with a personal grudge would not really see an effect.

There are of course a few cases in which this could be abused. For example if say a guild wanted to bully someone, they could all gang up and report a single player, or another guild enough times to force the account to be locked down. However, in the review process I’m sure ANet would be alto make an appropriate choice based on the history.

In the end this system would free up ANet from having to deal with every little infraction, and concentrate on the problem players. It would result in spammers and botters to be quickly suspended pending review, this not making it a viable exploit, and much more inconvenient to do.

Anyway, I hope ANet implements some fair system soon.

Other way is to restringe map chat to lvl 10 or something like that, or verify what accounts create 30+ toons daily.
