I was thinking of dungeon crawler games like Gauntlet and other adventure games like Legend of Zelda and I was thinking, “why not have more beautiful dungeons with vast puzzles your party will have to do all the whole being attacked by elite mobs at every turn as usual?”
Basically some dungeons will be like the mini dungeon in Diessia Plateau that was under water where players had to get a monster to melt a frozen wall to get to a jump puzzle to get a sword and freeze flame jets to open a stature-based lock with said sword to a boss with a chest?
Why can’t our big dungeons be more like this in design where you have to split tasks up or split up your party of 5 (also have weaker easily manageable mobs attack the lone members as they hold down a switch or something in 5 seperate areas)? And if you lose people, it will accommodate for smaller parties so you don’t get stuck unable to progress for lacking 5 people until someone hot joins?
Also things like pushing terrain/blocks into certain places and stuff to open doors while monsters come out of holes and things. Like instead of destroying the gravelings in AC, have a large block of stone be pushed by one person or two as others protect him/her to cover that hole in the wall.
Make good use of that kittening F key Anet! You can make this game really shine!
