Smash The Town Isn't Bugged
More likely you missed something, even though it may be hard to believe. Look for the two-three other posts about this already out.
It’s not bugged, I got it done just a short while ago. There are very very tiny fences that have to be destroyed too. We spent 15 minutes running around trying to find out what we were missing, someone found an itty bitty fence and broke it, we got the achievement.

No it is not bugged. I completed it at my first try of the dungeon. Then I helped a pug-group and we had little problem. We missed one little tree next to the asura gate of “Divinity’s Reach” city model. The models you could have missed are:
-Trees behind mountains near Hoelbark city
-Houses near Hoelbark city (they are covered in snow and little ones are easy to miss)
-Fence near Black Citadel buildings (make sure u destroyed every part of the fence)
-the one tree next to a Divinity’s reach asura gate
1 that I almost missed was the climbing frame type thing near the Charr-type buildings.
-Houses near Hoelbark city (they are covered in snow and little ones are easy to miss)
That’s what we missed when I first did it, a low ,flat snow covered hut that was hard to tell if smashed or not.
I just did it so it’s definately not bugged. But there are a lot of things which are destructable but either not obvious or look like non-destructable parts. It’s much easier if you can get your whole party on board rather than trying to do it yourself.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
i destroyed everything but there were 2 buildings that just wouldnt break. not even when i casted aoe’s on them.
I’m simply explaining why I’m right.
you should do this achievement AFTER you completed the dungeon. easier that way.
theres a bench on the east wall no one gets since they are looking for trees. there is also one tiny tree super hidden

I have the achievement so if it’s bugged it happened later on or it doesn’t affect everyone.
And yea definitely do it after you finish so you can really scour without being bothered.
Funny how everything is a bug , nothing player fault.

Sometimes it is definitely a bug. This happens to one of the places where it could be for some players. When a group completes it and some of the group receive the achievement and other group members do not (barring none had it prior), then something is definitely bugged. Pretty much common sense. Now I agree if no one in the group gets it, then most likely scenario is that something was missed
Some objects are really hard to see or simply impossible to see, even with graphics set to max.
But you can still hit them with PBAoE skills like Arcane Wave or Stomp. Walk around using PBAoEs, and you’ll see white damage numbers coming out of nothing here and there.

Engineers: this is the only thing in the game flamethrower is actually good for. Enjoy our most fun kit being useful for once.
Guardian staff #1 ftw
I dunno is it bugged or not.
But I tried to do this achievement with party, some people left after the boss and the two of us decided to wreck dem houses. We destroyed everything and didn’t get anything, so the other guy eventually got bored of looking for that last one fantom building and left.
So I decided to try and do it solo. I entered the dungeon, ran around and destroyed everything myself – and got the achievement without even the need to do a second circle.
Maybe if people, who destroyed some buildings, leave the party before you get it, then houses destroyed by them don’t count? I dunno. But people should try the solo way if they have trouble otherwise.
Did this with friend today… we destroyed everything. No achievement. After some time of running and searching we found little tree we missed and we got achievement.
It would be nice if they implemented some kind of progress bar for tracking these kinds of achievements.

Nope, achievement is awarded to every player in zone upon destruction of last piece of decoration. Mobs destroy them too sometimes.
Our group had the same thing happen, however we persisted and one of us found the hidden piece, it looked destroyed, but was not.
It is destroyed already, don’t bother.
@ Kullerkeks…. That one can’t be destroyed, and it does not have to be. Our group thought that was the problem and tried for quite awhile to get it, but it was a different one.
Can’t destroy this one, no matter how hard i try.
That one is indestructible. You dont need that one.
Does it matter if everyone left?
This is the second time (and only 2nd dungeon run I’ve done) I’ve stuck around to try to do this and just can’t seem to do it. I don’t know anyone else who plays the game, and I’m not in a big guild of ‘sorta know’ people, so it’s just me. I don’t think I can do this solo, matter of fact, I know I can’t.
So I’m sitting in here now, I tried looking at all the places listed above and don’t see anything left? Thoughts?
No it’s not, I got it. You’re obviously just missing a well concealed one.

Like the trees behind the rocks, rocks disguised as… rocks, probably some intersections from fences still standing etc…
Lava Font, Meteor Shower, Ice Spike, the initial blast from Eruption.
I’m indiscriminately laying waste upon waste in large areas that look totally destroyed, in the hopes of finding that last little thing, and still nothing.
I’ve been in here for 40 minutes and don’t want to leave to have to do this a third time.
I have this achievement, I even helped a group get it yesterday. You need to check everything. What held the group up was one of the Norn homes.

Everything is broken. There are like nests with bones in them, but those don’t seem to do anything?
Got the achievement few mins ago, ran around entire thing alone with a level 43 Staff Guardian, while not everything (buildings, some trees) is breaking just from auto-attack all the time – I got it in one go.
So… if all else fails that is definitely a thing to try for people, since you don’t really need to see what you are destroying with this kind of AoE attack.
Finally got it! Everyone stuck around to help as long as they could. I thanked them and a few left. About 5 min later I dropped a Lava Font on a building that was clearly burned out already and it ticked off (as well as for another person in the group).
Well that’s just silly, it was already broken.
Can’t destroy this one, no matter how hard i try.
This piece is the one I needed to finish. I am on a warrior and I couldn’t destroy it with a weapon, I had to use Stomp to pop it.
So for all those people who said you don’t need it, I certainly did need it.
I got this last night with a group and we did it after completing the run. The last house took a long time to find and it was some tiny little thing that was very easy to overlook. I don’t think it’s bugged, I think it’s just not as easy as it would at first seem.
Fire bombed the crap out of this place with my engi and a ele for like an hour.
We bombed the trees, we bombed the rubble, we bombed fences.
No idea whats still standing.
theres a bench on the east wall no one gets since they are looking for trees. there is also one tiny tree super hidden
Thank you. The “bench:” is what I was missing. I feel dumb.
Well, as I said:
When I tried to do this achievement after the run with 3 people leaving the dungeon I couldn’t complete it. Even though we ran around for more than half an hour and destroyed everything there was.
Then I went in solo and got the achievement after 5 mins just running in circle, kiting mobs and spamming grenades.
I’m not sure if it’s bugged, but there’s definitely something fishy there.
We had trouble with one house looking like a rock. Finally found it.
It was bugged on my run for it. One of the fence things for around towns was halfway stuck in a boulder that was near the edge of the map. Nothing I did as a ele would destroy it.
Worked perfectly fine for everyone in guild. You missed something.
You just missed it. That is all. No bug here.
It’s troublesome to locate the little ones, but it’s perfectly achievable. Just keep on at it.
To anyone that still can’t find even after completely obliterating everything, trees, benches, houses.
See attachment. It’s an INVISIBLE house near one of the norn structures, in the middle of a line with 3 “pits of dirt and bones”.
Edit: I entered the place again to make sure it was invisible and it was. At first, there’s 1 tree there. If you destroy it and throw an AoE again, 2 other damage numbers will appear.

Took us almost an hour. Turns out that some of the round Charr buildings that look broken are actually still intact. We just kept AoEing everything until something broken.
P.S. to ANet: that stupid unbreakable wall in the rocks in one of the charr towns needs to go away. We wasted WAY too much time trying to break that…
Took my team like 10 minutes after the mission. GS warrior is good for this.
Get an Engineer to help you, and only use Grenade Kit. Grenade Kit does not follow the normal rules of AoE and so if an object is stuck in a wall or a weird place under the world, the Grenade Kit will hit it.
Enjoy!
I’m still having trouble with this despite reading and trying everything mentioned in this thread… Ugh.
I found my ranged mesmer weapons buggy for smashing the trees. I could hit the structures and that was it not matter what angle I aimed from.
No it really is bugged for some reason (there’s a chance) it will be bugged after all events end and chest pops up. I spent 1 hour (after doing it previously) searching with no success, reloaded instance and completed it within 6 minutes (not doing any events) which IMO is complete bs.
I think it IS bugged, but still clearly doable. Over the past two days, I cleared the stage four times in total, at least to the best of my ability. I’m 99% sure I cleared it on at least that third run, but it still didn’t count. Now the 4th run it did count, so clearly it’s possible, but I think there’s something wrong because it should have cleared those earlier times too. I think there might be some way to make a run impossible to complete, or maybe certain items are bugged so that they are invisible and indestructible to some weapons.
When it cleared, I did have a team mate with grenade kit, so maybe that made the difference. I was a Thief myself and was using Cluster Bombs and Death Blossoms to take things out, and I seriously think I could have spent hours methodically exploding every square inch of the place and never complete it.
you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”
