In this post from the community operator, when it comes to minipets players can get through dungeons, it says that by the end of the festivity, simply by playing the dungeons, we’ll have more than enough to make any of those minipets. I’d like a clarification on that, so here’s my questions:

1) You mean we’ll have enough mats to make everyone of the 5 dungeon pets, or that we’ll surely have mats to make the one we like best?

2) In case you meant that we’ll have enough mats to craft every mini, can you explain how? Only through the first playthrough on the account we can receive 250 stuffies or 250 glue of choice and 100 cogs (and cogs are account bound, so no trading), so it seems that after the whole 5 dungeons we’ll have, at best 500 stuffies, 750 glue and 500 cogs, and that is enough to make only 2 of the minis. I’m fully aware of the possibility to trade glue and stuffies, and that the gifts gotten from the second playthrough can yeld stuffies and glue, but they are not reliable sources.

I’d like to receive an answer from a staff member if possible.

P.S. Please don’t look down on me for this post, I’m not a disgruntled customer! I’m enjoying the festivity at my best, and I’ve tried every activity so far, liking them all, but I’m an OCD player, sort of, and I like minis!

I myself, like to collect things on Guild Wars, always used to in the first game, and would like to continue this trend. But if we can only get 2/5 ourselves, there will be 3 gaps in my mini-pet area (not saying it’s anywhere near full mind you!)

Also why can we not get the daily when we redo them in LA to get more cogs/mats to make all 5? and if we cant, where can we see each of the toys to know what 2 we may want to make

So to follow up on this question, the event runs until the 3rd. It had been previously stated that after tixx has visited all 5 major cities we will be able to visit him in lions arch. So hypothetically, once he is in lions arch could we play the dungeon ever day after and have enough materials to make all of the minis?

Unfortunately not, unless accessing the dungeon via Lions Arch resets your account, which I highly doubt. Subsequent runs are only resulting in Winter Box’s, not the required materials needed to craft the mini’s.

So, at the end of the event, you’ll have to choose 2 of the 5 mini’s you want.

At least, with current info, that’s what it looks like.

It looks like each new day’s dungeon put that new mini pet in the gem store as well. Take a look at the mini pet section in the gem store and sure enough you’ll see the ventari for 350 gems.

I for one am pretty upset about this as my fiance and I spend $105 on gems for the chests mainly for the minis. The chest description on the wiki initially was misleading along with the special mini slots in the collections tab. Unfortunately we spent all of our gems on the boxes and now there’s nothing left to buy these last 3 dungeon minis when they’ll be posted.

I feel like this should have been mentioned before it was implied so people could have had a better idea on what they wanted to spend their gems on. I personally would have saved for 3 of the dungeon minis and as many boxes I could have got afterwards.

That would be horrible. They are account bound so people would be forced to live with empty slots in their collection table forever?

Hopefully we can do this again next year and get 2 more of the ones we don’t have. If that’s the case, I’m ok with that. If it’s 2 per account, EVER, that is a bit more extreme

Look what I posted above about how you’re intended to get all 5.

Clarification would be nice, the English language isn’t a clean cut language, the words being used are a little disingenuous for every event. Not asking for more information, just basically saying take your time and actually re-read what you type up and see if anything can be taken out of context or may be a little to vague for players who never played GW1 and aren’t use to your system.

I DO have a complete collection, and I will be extremely disappointed if it is not possible to maintain this without trying my luck (ha) at the gem store. Very uncool.

But now I’ve understood what’s happening reading other topics.
They are putting the minis for 350 gems every day in Gem Store… So they’ll let you get only 2 so you’ll need to spend 1050 gems for the other 3 (and you have to buy gems 2 times since you get 800 per purchase)…

I thought only Baby Quaggan, Snowman and the other 2 minis in the chests were “gem-bound” but I was wrong…

Game company hates collectors nowadays, dozens of exclusives and other crap which prevents you from ever getting complete collections.

I love the winter event in general. It is fun and relaxing. But you clearly achieve to disappoint me once again with your greed for money. One kind of minipets can only achieved in random chests, making it a lottory of how much money you have to spend to get them all… I bought the halloween pets since this was an clear trade of money for pets and not based on luck. And now of the other mini pets you only get two and have to buy the other three -.-
So now instead of buying something in the shop like halloween I will just enjoy the event and buy nothing in the shop because I am frustrated of this policy.

Please read up. I’ve already said in this thread that they intend for you to only craft two and you’ll have to buy the other 3 via gems if you want the whole collection. I got 2 accounts and if the toys are RNG’ed somehow then I’d rather sell them in a few months.

When I first saw the information about toymaker in every 5 cities who will give us a toy to craft, i thought “ok, so there will be 5 more minis for everyone who participated in event, great!”
Now If what Anthony said is true, I’m really disappointed about mini toys rewards…
I suppose we will get 5 frames, but cogs and materials will be enough only for 2 toys, the 3 more we will be forced to buy for gems (of course if we want to have 5 toys)
Come on, there are already minis from shop… I have one suggestion:
- First time we complete city instance = reward is pet frame+100 cogs+ 250 stuffies or glue (this means 5 frames+500 cogs+1250 stuffies/glue = 2 toys)
-first time on the every next day = reward should be 25 cogs + 25 stuffies/glue (this means we need to do every of 5 instances in 6 diffirent days during the event to get 3 more toys)
-every other complete of instance (second, third etc. in a day) = gifts, as it is now

This way every account will be limited to only 1 of each toy and also players who will play everyday in every instance will get all toys. And many of us will be very happy
(I really hope this suggestion was oryginally developers idea and it is already in game)

This is a bigger question. And was my original assumption until the Red Post answer in this thread. I figured they were putting the Minipet of the day up for those players who would rather purchase them instead of “having” to do the dungeon every day in order to have the materials to complete all 5 pets. That was an awesome idea. It serves all player types.

However, being forced to purchase the other 3 pets for gems no matter our play style is pretty much unacceptable. I am onboard with the Wintersday Boxes. I think they are too high of a price for the “chances” you get, but I am willing to be onboard with those. I believe that ALL the pets from those boxes should have been on the BLTC for a decent price as well but that is besides this point. In game events that reward you with recipes like this should be able to be made by EVERYONE who wishes to put in Work to make them. These are things that should NOT require us to dish out anymore of our already scarce gold. These are things that need to be accessible.

As it stands I have given this game MUCH MUCH more money than I gave any other MMO in triple the play time. The goal should be to make people use the gem shop to spend around 20$ on average a month. The current shop is flat out encouraging players to spend 50$+ a month and is 1) Not good for the game, and 2) not good for its players.

Coming from WoW and remembering that Children’s week event they had where you could only get 1 of the minis each year, I do not complain to much. For me, “it could have been worse.”

It wasn’t that way on Halloween – there was a pet pack people could buy that would drop 3 set minipets. Those 3 could be combined in the mystic forge for the 4th. It wasn’t RNG at all, and that was great.

There was a some frustration among collectors over the karka minis, which only dropped from chests. But, they weren’t account bound, so extras could be traded on the TP. That wasn’t great, but that was OK.

The festive minis (not the same as Tixx minis) are RNG-only and account bound, so you can open 50 chests and not get anything, or get stuck with 15 snowmen and none of the others, etc. That’s really bad for collectors and collectors are pretty upset about it. It’s also a bad trend to see. It makes players think, “What else will ANet do to mess up collector’s ability to play like we want?”

I thought that since events could be replayed we would be able to get the same reward too, otherwise what’s the point of having the events replay in LA? There’s already the each day achievement for people who are there in the dungeons each day, I thought the point of being able to replay the dungeon was so that people who have RL obligations (i.e., most of the Western world for the next few weeks) don’t miss out on anything.

This is a game, not a life. ANet needs to recognize that and stop expecting people to put GW2 first.

Only problem is it’ll cost 1050 gems. (Between this and the RNG for other minis) If thats not a scam/move to make us buy gems, I don’t know what is.

Nicely put. I consider myself part of the collectibles crowd and am very upset they keep putting the minis in the RNG chests. Any of those minis go for extreme amounts of gold, which I can’t even ever get close to. I for some reason do not get how people are getting the amount gold they are (to be able to uby either the minis, the halloween weapons/skins, precursors, etc.).

I’d support that. at least that way we aren’t forced to only buy the other three from the BLTC.

Very disappointed that we do not have the option to create all 5 of the daily minipets. The gem store in theory sounded like a nice thing, but in practice, it’s horrendous, as the ingame gold to gem market is horrible. And buying the gems with real money just doesn’t seem worth it as the gem amounts for items are way to high IMO.

Please give us a way to obtain more cogs and allow us to complete the wintersday mini pets.

First, all he said was that if you do the first 5 events you will have enough to make 2 toys. I don’t think we should read into it too much, it was just simple math.

That doesn’t mean “OMG! we only can make 2 ever.” Who is to say the lions arch dungeons won’t reset daily? We are not even past the first day yet. Why don’t we wait and see once he gets to LA?

Check your Gem Store. You are able to purchase the minipets that are revealed for 350gems. No idea if they’ll be gone the next day, but I love this option.

At least now I can collect all 5 of them.

I’d say they did this so they can get more out of the event…as in next year. People could get 2 more, so they don’t necessarily have to make more, maybe just one new one instead of 5 new ones.

It is a little sad though. But I can’t complain. Thats two that I got for free for once instead of gems.

Still seems kind of weird considering we have all this excess time for the event running, but I guess that is for the majority of the playerbase to get around to the events if they are busy.

Agreed. This is seriously stupid. I don’t mind some stuff in the shop but there’s like $60+ worth of stuff, plus random chests where you have to get lucky to even get the rewards with real money… and they can’t even give us these 5 pets? Seriously?

Collectors get royally screwed yet again. I’ve been one of the biggest fans of GW2 since the start hailing it as one of the best (if not THE best) game of the last decade and bringing a lot of friends with me. I had plans to play this game for years, but this stuff just makes me want to stop playing right now. Why bother playing when the only way to get half the stuff is to toss tons of cash at the gem shop? I gladly tossed a good bit of money at the shop early on and I would love to continue to do so… but I can’t support these stupid business practices.

Funny, I was about to ask the very same question.

So, will Tixx’ Wintersday repeat next year(with the same dungeon reward and minies) or we’ll be getting a complete new Wintersday event next year?

I just got 25 glue from a present I dropped from a mob. So it might be quite possible that we can get the other crafting materials for the minis from gift boxes as well and be able to make more than just 2 of them after all.

I though we’ll be able to gain glue and cogs from tixx when he’ll be in the lion arch but i was wrong aparently.
I hope this will be fix and everyone got all 5 pets

Gonna be really sad if anet expects us to shell out 1050 gems to get the 3 other toys. I thought the 4 minis from the boxes were going to cover their bases on that front.

One of the reasons I left StarKitten Online was because of their love for paid random drop boxes.

Then came along Wintersday, and I really liked the costume, so I bought a gem card…and with some of the leftover gems, I bought 10 boxes. Surely Anet wouldn’t make the same mistake that StarKitten did?

However, 10 boxes later I had 2 random dyes and some other, useless items. And then I remembered again why I disliked lottery boxes again. It seems that no matter how much you spend on them, you will never get your money’s worth.

So yeah, I won’t be making that mistake again. Surefire stuff only from now on.
