Borliss Pass, GoAT and the other guild that I can’t spell (Just cheked it’s SBZY)
I have a question for you guys :
I have been in BP Borderland all night yesterday, and we were doing some tactical strike around on your map with my entire guild (2 player including myself). We also had the random commander logging in, just to steal every player we had helping us and going Karma train (…).
But that’s not the point. I wanted to ask : The entire night, I played at around 5pm, stopped at 6pm, then got back for 10pm to midnight. The entire evening, you guys had a GOAT/SBZY/random pug of around 30 players, running around in a bunch doing nothing at all except taking back camp and maybe one tower each 1 hour.
I gotta specify, that most of the time, we had like 5-6 AR player, and I didn’t see much GoM all night.
So all I did with my guildy during the night was capping camp, and rushing a random tower from time to time. we also followed your Zerg to kill the slower guys.
So finnaly here is my question : Do you guys really have so many player, that you can waste them in a Zerg vs 4-5 players capping camp? Seriously I gotta show the screen shot, that Zerg was enormous, and were travelling in a bunch. You guys had to run around the map to cover every camp we were taking.
We were hoping your zerg would disperse, so we could get some nice fight. But it wouldn’t. All night, a bioball of player running around.
Didn’t it get boring?

@ Kardia – and your borderlands was being taken at the same time. Didn’t you worry about that? I don’t know about you, but once I have garrison, bay and hills with waypoint, I’m sure as hell going to defend it. Plus, all the while we were upgrading things, setting siege, and chatting in team chat. I’m sorry if AR people can’t get their pugs to actually defend. It does seem like you guys think the game is just about capping. Too bad.

Wow, starting to sound like “GoM” who thinks because they have the larger number wandering around compared to the opponent you guys have some tactical strategy going on. You have those wonderful 3 waypoints in your keeps simply because ARB and apprently GoM have been leaving you guys alone, nothing else.
So keep thinking highly of your “Tactical” prowess.
When your in a server like AR, you will make use of what you have, and with smaller numbers, and lack of 80’s, of course we will camp raid to our hearts content.
I really wish both Borlis and GoM would just move out of this tier as it seems your both ready to move up and actually fight servers with the same numbers as you do. Then perhaps you will see that either sides “zerg” mentality won’t be as effective with even odds.
For now the only saving grace and I hate to admit this, is the night capping AR does just to keep the points competative. I prefer to fight all of you at your prime time, makes it a challenge when my guild runs around on our alts, lower lvl, with blue/green gear, vs your 30 – 40 man teams in your best uniforms. As soon as I get off work, I’ll be leading another one to help lvl members up and hopefully get them geared. Which map we go to is still being determined.

It gets incredibly boring, but we are in it for what we need to do to move the server forward, not our guild. Now, when we camped Briar with Ballistae and Arrow Carts in the lord room for hundreds of lootbags, that was fun. You can cap every camp with your two man groups. We will cap it right back and you will score no points for it. In other words, GTFO our map
We also have a severe case of, OH LOOK! We’re winning, lets go zerg xp!
Talk about being board, NEWL, camping the norther supply camp, killing people that straggle out one at a time. Good stuff.

Did you read what I wrote?
We were about 5 player in your borderland,.
You had between 30-40 player, ask Plok I’m sure he was there. I will post the SS I took of the group when they passed by.
We were running around capping, most of the time with a 2 man team. So what? We should have gone to our borderland to defend our Keep, adding 2 more guy to the zerg?
Or stay in your borderland, cap supply and tower, and keep your 30-40 zerg moving.
Using 5 player to keep 30-40 player in the map is a tactic I’m willing to use.
Plok, I rarely agreew with him, but he understood what I mean. I didn’t say you were doing anything bad, what I said is : I would love to have enought number to be able to counter a 5 man group with 30-40 players all evening/night.
And I was also asking, and Plok answered, is it really fun?
I’M WvWing since release, and rolling with a Zerg ball is no longer fun personally. That why I was wondering, Zerging without having any number of ennemies ot fight, was it fun.
By the way, were you there plok? Had some good time fighting this group!
I’m easy to reconize, I’m among the only Charr Necro with pink gear and rolling with Minions and using an Axe.

@ God – Nah, you know, accusing Borlis of having a zerg is really funny. AR is still more populated than Borlis, you just gotta get your players outta pve. On the weekend we had very similar numbers, and they’re not THAT different right now, but as your fair-weather players see that you’re losing, they give up playing WvW until it resets, or they start lvling their chars in WvW, which makes you weaker.
AR and GoM are leaving us alone? Really? Maybe you wanna tell me the story of Hanzel and Gretel next, cause that’s a fairytale.
When I got to our borderlands we had like 10-15 people spread around the map and both GoM and AR were taking the southern towers with big groups, GoM even had hills. You guys had golems and all that kitten (even SoS and CRFT paid us a visit). I called my friends to the map and we made a big group and took care of it. If we had not done that, soon enough AR and GoM would have the whole map. Mind you that we split up into smaller groups many times, specially after we had taken our things back.
Anyone knows that it’s very hard to keep players in a map that’s fully conquered cause they wanna go to another map and cap more things. So yeah, kudos to us for keeping a big group in our borderlands to help defend it. Or will you tell me that players love staying in a fully conquered map?
I have stated this many times, when you see our numbers, it’s not because of transfers. It’s something else we’re doing, which is very simply 1) bringing them from PVE 2) super dedicated players that are on for way longer than they should. I played for about 40 hours this past weekend.
Don’t forget that Borlis moved up from the bottom tier, so we are the underdogs here. We didn’t get any major transfers and we had as many players leave our server as we had them join us.

“Hey guys, nice battles last night.”
“This week’s win brought to you by the skilled and dedicated commanders of GOAT.”
“Thanks for the badges.”
These are the kinds of fun, perhaps sometimes slightly abrasive but good-natured comments that would make this community better. But I guess good sportsmanship is not a clause in the TOS. Instead we get stuff like “u zerg noobs” and “y u gang up on us”. What a shame. The whole WvW forum needs to be closed because people cannot be civil.
Doing what I can for DB during EU primetime
You are no longer considered the underdog, as you won the match 2 week ago.
The only reason you lost last week is because one of your major guild took a break.
The reason why AR is staying in this match up with faily good score, is only because of our offpeak team capping everything. It has nothing to do with our population, it’s just that we have player online when the Borderland are empty.
I won’t lie, I know since beginning that Anvil Rock is a PVE server. During the halloween event, we lost half our number, having the permanent outmanned buff. We have guild recruiting pve player for WvW, but it doesn’t cut it.
Borliss Pass got better out of nowhere 3 weeks ago. They had trouble cutting it into our tier, and all of suddent they won the match up. I don’t know, it just weird that all of suddent you had player everywhere.
But it’s all good, part of the game. AR didn’t win a single match up since release, so I don’t think we have any fair weather player left. We are used to losing, it doesn’t make any difference.
Oh and yeah you are right, our upleveled 80 player are hurting us really bad.
@Eviator : Man you are on the internet, you can’t expect everything to be rainbow and flower. And I love the way it is. We need some rivalry if we want to stay motivated.

No we don’t have the population
I’m trying to understand something here, and perhaps a respresentative from Borlis pass can answer this question.
my group loves to fight borlis players, and this week you guys have shown your numbers again compared to last week. I am sitting here now as anvil rock throws everyone we can in arb to defend against your forces, and it seems equivalent to the numbers gom is showing up on their own map, plus eb.
The real threat to your lead is GoM, so i’m trying to figure out why you guys aren’t hitting gom, but instead spending your time here at arb, when arb has pretty much left you guys alone this week, at least my guild has, and has gone after GoM for posting how “dominating” they are in last weeks match up.
My question is, with all your numbers, are you spending your time fighting ARB, because your afraid to fight GoM? Just wondering, because as I see both your borderlands hardly change to either color often, but yet ARB gets green and blue majority of the time, I can only imagine this answer as a “yes”.
GoM will continue to fill two maps with their players, and hit ARB, while owning majority of the places in eb. They will catch up to you borlis pass, and I suspect if you continue to hit ARB and you don’t slow down GoM, they will surpass your score. If this continues, I may have to reconsider not leaving you guys alone on your map, since all of you seem to be hell bent on taking arb all the time. We could just have another repeat of last week, where ARB and BP fights it out while GoM takes everything else and sits in fortified, untouched towers and keeps. Because the two underdog servers in this match up can’t get it in their heads, that GoM is the threat in this tier, and not each other.
i’m sorry, but with AR, it’s personal. GoM will be coming for you day and night. that’s just the way it is.

@ Kardia – I know that I personally introduced over 50 members to WvW in the last month. Our alliance is working well together and our guilds are recruiting and training PVE players. Anyone in Borlis knows that reason we’re doing better is because of our own efforts and not some Deus Ex Machina server transfer.
Check the forums. Borlis never advertises asking for transfers to our servers. We are proud of our community and want to build it ourselves.
I myself was a clueless newbie running raids without a commander tag 2 months ago when the leaders of GOAT and SBZY whispered me saying I was doing a good job and took me to their TS servers to teach me how to be a commander. It is because of their vision of what was needed for the server to do better, which is, the need to have an alliance that works well together, that has well trained commanders and knowledgeable people following them, that we’re doing better. Not awesome, just better.
But yeah, of course the other servers will discredit us and say we’re just zerging. That’s how it always goes. We know our story though and no one will make us forget it.
Borlis Pass
I didn’t say it was all about transfer,
but from the experience I had yesterday, seeing a group of 30-40 players traveling in a bunch from crossed sword to crossed word, it didn’t impress me.
And I know AR is doing the same thing, and I’m not proud of it ether.
There is no strategy in having a blue icon, waiting for 30 player to show up, and charging. Randomly shout “Take supply” or “Build this ram” isn’t much ether.
I wish we had more tactics then that, but sadly, the commander icon, the AoE limit, the small map : Those all promode zerging. Follow the blue dot and try to tag the ennemy to get the loot.

I know personally, this guild will continue to hit everything green. Better have your best gear on, and protect your homeland. Oh, and you might want to continue spawn camping, it’s like the only organizational strategy that works well for you.

I just wanted to throw out there that not everyone in WvW on ANY server just runs around in mobs. I’ve no interest in getting in the middle of any personal battles going on here but I do think that generalizing an entire server is disrespectful to the players who do adopt tactical strategies. Also, consider that the “zerg” has its place and may not be as mindless as you think. At any rate, its just a game. Try not to be so butt hurt that you blast every player/guild/group in WvW because you disapprove of how SOME may be playing it. See you guys on the battlefield, and lets go GoM!
Eadren what server are you from? i come on here to pick a target (Gom) the server that whines the most gets me attacking there camps all night

I wish the mods would be a little more lenient about the so-called “trashtalking”, at least on the wuvwuv forums. Rivalry is good and keeps things from getting stale.
We’ve played the same matchup 3 weeks in a row now. I’ve gone from a respectful, sportsmanlike mentality to downright hatred at AR and BP because I’m so sick of seeing those kittens all up in GoM’s lawn. In actuality, though, I wouldn’t trade those servers for any others because each week of fighting against them has been an absolute blast AND a good challenge. I just love to hate them… that’s all

Speed Reading ftl. fun night tonight.. i enjoyed watching anvil and borlis fight it out over Green vale camp in Borlis Borderlands , Anvil Set up seige and tried to use the wall as a zerg break while borlis streamed in from every corner of the galaxy. haven’t seen that for awhile. was a good show to watch.
So while you guys have been fighting for 5 weeks straight and dislike each other.
you still have fun fights right? Enjoy them while you can. coming from a high tier i can say fights like that only happen rarely, it’s a numbers game up there. and if u think gom/anvil/borlis has double your number wait till you go up a tier…
Night all
This match-up has been really fun. Fun fights! =)
My guild just transferred to Borlis Pass last week, and i can tell you something we noticed about all 3 servers.
You ALL zerg. BP has 4 commander dots, all in the same spot. They claim to not be a zerg, but they are.
GoM is nothing but a zerg.
AR, the few times i have seen them has been yet another zerg.
Where are the small scale guilds? Why does everyone think you need 50 players to take a depo? a tower? a keep?!
You win this objectives with persistence!

Enough of the zerg issue. no matter how you look at this game, zerg will always be there.
Don’t complain about zerg, this game is designed to be a massive war. expect a zerg.
You can also win objectives using overwhelming force, taking them before your opponent has the ability to respond and counter you at all- especially if you don’t have any defenders. That’s what I’ve noticed a lot playing on GoM is that we have a lot of trouble just keeping defenders and not enough people communicating enemy troop movements -or- when troop movements are given, moving our troops is like herding cats.
I’ve missed Khronus and Saria this week. They haven’t been on during the same times they were last pairing and our score reflects that.
I’m just glad GoM isn’t crushing our two humble servers like bugs as every other server that visits us tends to do.

lol,
before i went to class today, i lead my team on gom to do some lvl’ing and karma aquiring.., it’s funny you say this because we intercepted the gom group that’s been tailing us, and we intercepted a borlis group by accident mind you, but won vs both. I eventually had to go to class though, but as a grand finale, we did take one of the towers. The guild had fun, and the two encounters were fun as well. gg guys.
anyhow, not angry at anyone, I just like to see some political strife going on among the servers, to much kitten posts and you can go crazy after fighting a server for weeks on end. I know this will be a long battle between the servers, because there is no clear dominance to put anyone further down a bracket, or further up a bracket.

You might actually get players doing other things besides being a herd. Players might actually learn to always have supplies on them, to always have a ram/cata/bal on them at all times. They might learn to stop auto attacking a wall, because you can’t damage it!

@testpig. Your guild transfered here what last week? Dont come here trying to act like your the best thing and acting as if our server doesnt knw what to do. If thats how ur guild is then i suggest another server jump to a different server.

Next time come on your Borderland, BP BL. GoM and AR got some small scale guild running around and fighting.
We, LS, are a 2 man guild running BP BL all night long, capping camp and tower. Sometime we gather some allies, but 10 player is the most we can get usually..
Fights are pretty cool, as skill actually count in those small group fights. It’s a lot of fun really, I’m sure GoM player who play on this borderland also have some fun!
The only downside is during BP peak, they have a looooot of player there. It become AR small group vs GoM small group vs 40 player BP zerg. It’s annoying, as I go to this borderland to escape the EB zerg.
Yesterday we had some good fight at Red Refuge, defending it with balista, arrow cart and all. Seriously, I prefer defending this camp over the tower anytime of the day.
Lot of fun on this borderland when we can small fights!

Well, I just gotta laugh at these people praising small groups so much. If you play to win, you use the strategy that’s most efficient for that given situation, be it running a large group or many small ones.
IMO, a lot of you guys are really sounding like you care more about doing your own thing than helping the server win. You want 1 on 1 and small teams vs small team? Have you ever heard about sPvP? You just might be in the wrong kinda of pvp.
Don’t get me wrong. I have enjoyed soloing camps, taking hills with just 4 people, etc, etc. But what I see is a lot of anti-social behavior. People that, even when their help is needed together with the main group, don’t answer to the call for help.
Do you want to do your own thing? Earn it. Plok comes in and does his job as a commander. He will sit his kitten and defend. Bring a big group together if necessary. Sometimes he’s just running around in a small group of 4-6 people. But if you whisper him and ask for help, he will be there.
Now how about you all stop patting yourselves on the back and develop a server mentality?
Borlis Pass
@ testping – were you around for beta? cause not a lot has changed since then. When you leave a map without a leader people lose focus, fight at the spawn, lose fully upgraded keeps and towers, and all that jazz. Commander tag is just a tool, the truth is, if you don’t have a leader, or leaders, chaos ensues.
Want people to start being useful, good, wvw players? Educated them.
Often times I will stop my group and say:
Ok, so here is the deal…
Let me tell you about ram placement…
Let me show you where people usually hide in this keep…
Ok, now we’re doing to rush, so…
Etc
I mean no disrespect. I have been in the same map as you guys so I know your style. But your comment on this forum is the very cliché and typical “zerg is bag, I am good”.
Also, you are criticizing our commanders with that post of yours. Instead, I’d like to make a suggestion. You moved to our server. So, try to get to know us. Join our TS, ask us if we need help with anything. Take responsibility for a difficult task. Hold and upgrade a tower. Put you guild buffs in it.
Just some ideas for you if you plan on staying in the server, cause there’s no point in staying if you don’t have a good relationship with the community.
If you ever feel like whispering me in game, pls feel free to do so.
Best of luck to you and your guild.
Borlis Pass
@GoM/DP/AR: my statement above still holds true about all 3 servers, they all zerg. And it has nothing to do with me being better then you, and not being better then you etc etc. There is no egos here.
I know the zerg has it’s place, i tend to call them the power pugs. Players need a place to go. I just don’t think the best place to go, is “everyone should be at the exact same spot”. Having 4 commanders at the same spot sort of defeats the purpose of the commander tool. Yes you can counter a zerg with zerg. And the victor tends to be whoever lagged out less. lol.
@Dia
Yes, we have run in the same battlegrounds, and you do know my guilds tactics when we are in the lakes, or when we turn on our commander. You would also know that our commander dot was very aggressive in the lake, as well as very much tried to keep our 2 armies away from each other. Not that we don’t want to work together, but 2 armies can work very well together, from different fronts. Afterall, this is a 3 way war. And yes, we did move to this server last week, so it will be a little more time before we can apply guild buffs to the buildings we capture =), we also don’t claim them yet, as we can’t apply any buffs to. But we certainly do upgrade/defend.
@Haden,
Thats not the case at all.
@Kard
Ok, good to know the small scale is in BP lands. I was thinking they were in AR, because their objectives seem to be all low level, making them nice objectives for small groups to fight over. BP stuff and GoM stuff seems to always be fully upgraded.
@Plok
I hear ya, we only turn on our commander dot when it’s clear the pugs need some simple guidance.

@Dk
How about you all stop patting yourselves on the back of “strategy” and better “tactics” when in reality it’s just simple numbers.
look Dk, it’s great BP has suddenly changed around, but let’s get this straight, till your server blows the score in a really huge spread, I don’t think you should judge how AR works. I see when those guys are on, and sometimes they really don’t have a choice. Running around as a pair, as a guild is all they have, outmanned buff, and just them alone in a single borderland map. This happens quite to often for AR, and it’s been like this for a while now. However, we can manage to field a full map once in a while, in a certain time, and when that happens, AR does work together. As he mentioned sometimes he’ll pick up a few pugs doing the same and they get together. 10 of them vs 40 – 50 of you?
I like bp, you guys provide good fights, SoS in particular loves to face off against you guys, so let’s keep things real, and just roll with our weeks, because this won’t end. Who knows, maybe next week AR will focus on Borlis pass, and GoM will take the lead. It seems who ever AR chooses to focus their attention to, the other team ends up taking the win for the week. So let’s not post stuff about guilds taking breaks, that’s about the lamest excuse I think i’m reading, because I’ve seen everyone of you guys just as much the last 2 weeks as I see this week.
Let’s just have fun k,
Darksavage – 80 Ranger Shadowena – 80 Thief
Darkside Syndicate – 80 Mesmer
@testpig
Well AR lack any kind of harcore WvW guild, except maybe SoS, but it’s not enought to upgrade everything. Without those guild, pug and small guild lack any kind of gold to upgrade our points.
Also, we got our kitten kick since release prior to this match up, and I think the mentality of upgrading isn’t there yet. We could never hold anything, so people didn’t learn to defend/upgrade.
I think those 2 reason doesn’t help us at all
Anvil Rock still have a long way to go, but thats how we like it!
@DKz Lux
Don’t make it sound like if I’m not part of the zerg, you aren’t useful.
Fighting zerg vs zerg isn’t the best strategy, far from it.
I prefer to be part of the small group that will cut supply, take camp, kill reinforcement. Small group are the key to winning, and I won’t stop doing it.
If my team really need zerg help, be sure I will join them. Just check the post on the WvW forum, that explain supply raiding, and how useful it can be.
Server : Anvil Rock (Since Release!) [SOLO]
As fun as its been playing the last couple of weeks, I still see certain members of GOM making boneheaded moves
First, when the other side attempts to take the keep and we manage to successfully defend, it should be common sense to REPAIR the canons, oil, etc BEFORE everything on the agenda. The odds are they could attempt to take the keep again or the other server could do it. Its best to be prepared. The same goes for each of our holdings on our lands.
Second, when we are outmanned and when theres is a call out to defend the Keep when its being taken…We need EVERY player to help
It just seems we have a huge issue when it comes to defense. Its something that really needs to be worked on
@Kard
Yes, anytime GoM or AR control SM in EB, my guilds focus changes to cutting and draining your supply. we keep those objectives under our control, and just keep poking at all your walls/doors forcing repairs, and hoping just hoping some pugger comes around, and selects some upgrade that will never happen on those objectives and help us drain the supply even more.
That has been something which i have notice that this server doesn’t quite do yet, is pick on the big boy. In EB, it’s whoever controls SM. in the lakes, it used to be whoever controlled the orbs. Now i guess in the lakes it’s whoever is in the pointlead(or has their lake untouched).

Talk about being board, NEWL, camping the norther supply camp, killing people that straggle out one at a time. Good stuff.
It was actually extremely fun because the amount of invaders would double every 5 minutes until it became too much to handle. It was survival mode! Definitely much more fighting than ‘one person at a time’; don’t be so modest! We’ve farmed several hundred badges from that camp, so we’re definitely looking forward to causing some more havoc up there :>

Operation: Heart Seeker
Location: GoM
Primary Objective: Reset all fortified keeps and remove waypoints from the map.
Secondary Objective: Take every tower and keep.
—————————
This is our story…,
Commander Darksavage and his syndicate forces arrives in the lands of the evil armies of gates of madness. We began building, preparing for an all out strike deep in the heart of enemy territory. I knew we couldn’t fail this operation, but yet a success would mean a great boost to our own moral. As I walked among the troops, acknowledging the other commanders around me, inspecting our numbers. I was considering all the intelligence gathered about the enemy. I concluded that it was to hot in the zone. I immediatly gave the order for full withdrawl, “let the storm calm” i said. Everyone understood, and so followed. A few remained, continuing our scouting operations.
I knew the enemy capabilities, I knew if we didn’t hit fast enough, they can muster an army faster than a blink of an eye, and I knew they can simply portal themselves to any keep. I recalled everyone we had back into enemy territory and we immediatly began the operation. Our first target was the Hills Keep, minimal resistence was met, and we successfuly took the 1st heart from the evil empire GoM. 2nd target was Garrison, once again, we hit fast enough it was to late, a few defenders were found and destroyed outside the western wall, we did not take any prisoners. Our final target, Bay keep, we met minor resistence at this point, but we still were able to get through and take the keep. The mission was a success, our moral was high, and we headed back to do our final stand at the garrison.
To all that participated in this operation.
Thank you.
Sincerly,
Darksavage

It is a challenge to keep a thread like this interesting after the 3rd week of the same server fights! So I ask, “What is the purpose of this thread?”
Are we going to use this space to argue over kittens and insult everyone’s motivations? Let me give you a little insight. NO ONE CARES!!!! And it should be obvious by this thread falling to the 3rd thread page – NO ONE IS READING IT!!!
I vote that we make this thread about stories! Not stories about who we think cheated or who may be better or worse or how my strategy is better than your strategy. Honestly, no one reading this believes any of it after a few posts.
Let’s make them EPIC – defending, attacking, funny, embarrassing – but interesting!
Couple of nights ago a couple of AR’s and a few BP’s were just messing around. We were taking turns dueling and learning a little about each other. After 10min or so, we started getting bored and were standing around (I was seriously considering ganking one of them just for kicks), and 4 GOM’s sneak up on us and start plowing.
One thief tried to gank me, but I dodged and made a fight. They took me down since I got separated from the crowd and at least a couple were on me. I didn’t care. It was hilarious! I don’t know if they took any more of AR or BP down or not, didn’t hang around.
I’m sure GOM was having a group hug about it all … hehe
Anvil Rock
@ Godfather – last post is a good one.
