After weeks on end of climbing up the tiers with the advantage of our numbers and coverage, Kaineng has finally reached a match against two great forces that will bring great joy in fighting over the next week(s). This will be quite interesting.. GET READY FOLKS! ITS ON!

I just hope it isn’t a repeat of this week with Kaineng pushing DB constantly bolstered by Mag raids. I don’t think there was any kind of a formal alliance but Mag mostly avoided FA at least during the hours I play. I haven’t seen Danelon and Golanta sit that long without flipping for a long time.

This is literally not possible if you mean by points. Mag’s night time weekday crew is like 10-15 people across all borderlands. DB’s daytime crew is similarly anemic going by proportion. If kaineng took 2nd in day and night during the week, they’d still win by points.

Reset and weekend should be really competitive, though.

Mag/DB have really strong morale, so yeah, you’ll be getting fights all week. We still have a lot of roamers. Points wise, I wouldn’t be surprised if mag/db lead in ppt for the reset/weekend. Basing that on how Kain did versus Yaks on reset.

We tried to take FA’s west keep on their borderland yesterday from SW tower. Your BP guild came along and double teamed us out of it. Not really cool.

We then decided to go to your borderland and proceeded to take every single thing on it, so you might want to have a talk with them.

Because it’s not really clearly who is actually the big dog in this matchup. Also, because for Maguuma to ally with anyone will give away their biggest advantage. It’s expected that the maps will be largely split during Oceanic/Asian times between Kain and DB, with Maguuma crushed. For Maguuma to succeed, they’ll have to consistently clear the map during EU and NA times.

Ehh, alliances are for chumps. Just makes it all the more twisted when you get stabbed in the back (and one server in a strategic partnership will ALWAYS get stabbed in the back).

No alliances, but going by borderland spawn, Mag will naturally be pushing into Kain. It’s the same reason it was easier for us to push into you last match – SW spawn is too good.

That’s the welcome that FA and DB gave us the start of this week… while part of me thinks it shouldn’t be a “pick on the new guy” tier, the same thought process from highschool of “the seniors picked on me when I was a freshman, so now it’s my turn” will be hard to ignore

My prediction, Mag will dominate during NA daytime/primetime hours but we don’t have the overnight presence and will lose ground there. I’m hopeful we wont be teamed up on through opening weekend like last week, so hopefully we can establish enough of a lead during the day so that our overnight losses aren’t as tragic.

I have no idea who wins this, I feel DB and Mag are pretty evenly matched, DB with a edge because of Oceanic presence. I’ve never faced Kain so we’ll see.

As long as the battles are bloody and hard fought, I don’t think anyone will have complaints.

Not that I care one way or the other but how did we determine this would be the next matchup when the ratings are going to be reset for this next weeks matchup?

The post about the reset says they expect several weeks of volatility, meaning high tier servers will be put against low tier and so on. At least that’s what I take from it. Anet can’t outright say the matchup predicitons from a 3rd party website are correct:

1) We’ll let the current matchup play out. Since free transfers were available during the first part of this matchup we don’t want it to count towards the new ratings.
2) When the matchup rolls over on Friday, February 1st we’ll post the final ratings & rankings. The new ordering will determine the groupings for the next matchup as usual.
3) After the new matchup has started on February 1st we’ll reset all the ratings (and deviation & volatility) behind the scenes.

The same post stated that they would take this weeks results to determine matchups next week. And then they would delete the history.

What will be fun is the few weeks of wildly volatile ratings changes. Top tier teams will probably find themselves in lower tiers for a short while, simply because scores this coming week should expect to be closer in the top tiers than some of the middle tiers, who may have an epic blowout week and find themselves tier 1 for a week or two.

Because every world will have reset ratings the system will treat the February 1st matchup as the first matchup and will calculate the ratings accordingly. The new ratings will then be calculated normally in the way that you’re already familiar with. We expect several weeks of volatility while the ratings settle down but we believe that it will ultimately yield a more correct result more quickly than letting the current ratings persist. That also means that the coming month or two will be a fantastic time to fight for your world’s place in the rankings!

Heavily implies we’ll have new completely random matchups. Maybe it’s because I just got up and my brain isn’t putting the words together correctly? lol

Imagine if this fight is so close that all 3 servers end up in T8 and stay there forever because we’re all so equally matched.
