Guild Wars 2

Thanks to a couple of the PAXA guys in our BL last night for the fight on the middle island. Was a lot of fun. I wasn’t grouped up with anyone but there were even numbers i think and it was well fought. The others didn’t seem to last very long, but I thought I held my own pretty good till the other NSP guys were spiked. Also thanks to the guardian for the nice bow at the end. I respect that after a good fight! I also want to thank a Mesmer from (FGM- or something like that) had a lot of fun fighting you last night as well. Things got even more fun when I was tagging along with XOXO fighting you and some others at the SF spawn.

Stryk, was going to mention that fight today. We were winding down for the evening when we came across you guys. Immediately I said, “it’s Stryker!” The fight was solid. For no coordination and possibly an up level (can’t remember) you guys were fun for sure. The guys in vent were like, “that dude is tanky as hell!”.

I was the one that bowed man. We always appreciated you while we were on NSP and still do. You’re one of the good ones man, solid player stand up guy. Would love to see you lead a focused group. Cheers man.

Only because the rules for those games and the tournaments/organized sport that they are played in require a prize. WvW does not, therefore a winner is declared and the WvW rules are applied.

I haven’t seen a post about you guys bragging about killing someone (excluding when provoked by false information). I am not saying you will, but some of your posts towards SF are quite aggressive and makes casual players or players in general to feel they are representing the server as a whole instead of as a 5 man. This puts more pressure on these small groups and some will see fit that the risk doesn’t meet the rewards and proceed to zerg.

Sometimes, zerging gets mindless, sometimes it is all about that 1 skill, indeed. But, to generalize it as everyone is unskilled that zergs is a bold statement and hits individually instead of at the concept of zerging. Thus all the rude comments and pairing XOXO and PAXA as basically the same type of guild. One that doesn’t like zergs, ones that think 5v5 is the only way you should WvW. As a few know that’s not what you are saying but we assume through these posts that is your views on the matter. You also got to realize that a lot of us find our thrill in zerg vs zerg combat rather than 5v5 combat. But, our numbers vastly outnumber you and this is why we want “to win” and move up tiers.

Indeed, you do post appropriately and with civility, at least most of the times that I’ve seen you post. This is not always the case with other members of PAXA though. To be honest I think PAXA and XOXO should put up some forum restrictions as PVP does. It doesn’t have to be strict, just something to enforce good forum etiquette (I know, XOXO and PAXA aren’t the only ones who stoke the fire on the forums as well. Just that I respect what your guilds are trying to do). It truly saddens me to see Varconi attacking one of my guildmates and my guild after posting a video (sorry for the call-out) I know Varconi can be reasonable but when you attack ones guilds or guildmates it gives your guild a bad reputation.

I came from Warhammer Online, Gorfang server, in the guild The War Council on destruction and we would run 6 to 10 people and fight zergs all day. It was really fun being apart of something small and not grand scale.

I think that zergs have more of the rude attitude via emotes because there are more people there. One person starts to /dance on a corpse and then others follow. They are most likely laughing at how you were alone at the wrong place, wrong time. I respect XOXO as a small man the guild and it’s 5 billion clones have a good strategy and 1v1 skills.

WvW benefits zergs a lot. No one denies that. But, saying that small roaming groups only fit into sPvP is not only wrong but attacking the ideals that their guild was formed upon. So, when we say things like “go to sPvP if you want a fair fight.” It is actually an aggressive statement which provokes their “zergs are mindless, press 1” quotes and then 4 threads get closed. Small roam groups, stop supplies from reaching that camp, stop a few reinforcements trying to defend that tower, gain points via other means, and can through a zerg of course. They add a lot to the server and people should appreciate these groups and other small roaming groups you find as helping the server win.

Also, I’ll be roaming around SF BLs see if you can find the pink necro in full Dry bones skin hopping around but be warned I’m sporting a support spec and full cleric gear.

I used that terminology because this game has been out for more than half a year and there are basically solos and zergs…. We should be filling in the in-between gap.

In my defense I didn’t start attacking anyone in your guild I was in a trolly mood and someone else made a post about the skills being used. I merely said pink guardian repeatedly.

If it makes you feel any better the first or second day of this match I joined a COSA thief’s party and told him he was the worst player ever for the sole purpose of making his guild hate me. I find that I get more joy out of killing someone from COSA or PvP now that we have created this fake hostility, I am positive they enjoy killing me 100xs more than some random.

I expect to get corpse jumped and emoted on when I die it makes me smile that killing me is a highlight.

While I ultimately agree with PAXA that there ought to be more small group PVP and less zerg (I transferred from higher tier like others so that I could find more small fights), I have no idea how you are “promoting” this playstyle through mockery, walls of boring biographical text, and blatant trolling.

As a mostly solo or duo player I could make the same pointless argument you do – why so many 3-6 man guilded roaming groups on HoD and NSP? To a solo player PAXA is a zerg. You choose the number 5 as being the basis for “real PVP”, and then frequently run in groups bigger than 5. Too small for a zerg and way too big for most small groups. Talk about a niche market – no wonder you’re frustrated.

For any solo players t7 is waaay different than t8 was. You run into so many more roaming groups and fewer solo, and they tend to be organized and just better. Other solo guys know what I’m talking about if they’ve tried to 3v1 or even 2v1 GT, SPCA, XOXO, tM and probably a couple others I’m forgetting. 1)PAXA typically doesn’t start the mockery/trolling. Yes it has happened, but it is most often responding.

2)The number 5 is just convenient because that is the current group size limit. The guilds that run in small groups don’t care if the fight is exactly even, just reasonable. 5 amazing players can put up a fight against 8 good players. Same for 3 fighting 5 (read earlier about the tM 3 man). They will probably lose, but it won’t be as stupid as 5 fighting 20 at a camp.

3)If you run solo and are killed by SPCA/SPLT/PAXA/XOXO/tM/GT, I can guarantee you the people in that group would never call you out or mock you. We all know it takes no skill for 5 to kill 1, just as it takes no skill for 20 to kill 5. And, at least for PAXA, if you stayed to fight you’d probably get a /bow. All the small roaming guilds also have members that run solo/less than 5, we all know what it’s like to have an epic 1v1 ruined by adds. You solo roamers get lots of respect from us, and as the weeks go on in this tier (despite all of the “winning” done by SF) you will become recognized and left alone more often by those groups.

Unless I’m bored and chase you down with 5 just for the hell of it.

Sorry, I am not going to re-read the same stuff you have posted before. You want others to listen to what you say but then you dismiss the people that do not see things your way as sheeple and suckers. Very mature.

You belittle others you claim have no skill because they do not do what you want them to do. It is immature, disrespectful, and just proves you are not here to make an actual point.

You are not promoting small group pvp, you are telling everyone else they suck because they do not play by your rules. You straight alienate them instead of fostering camaraderie and getting people to like your ideas.

It IS a literal meaning. We fight World vs. World vs. World. The scoring reflects that. There is no flaw because the point of World vs. World vs. World is for each world to fight the other two worlds. Whatever we get out of it is what we get out of it. Just because you get nothing out of it doesn’t mean other people don’t. You just think it is flawed because it is not what you want it to be.

But there are sheeple and suckers in this game. You don’t have to like the words I chose to use, but that doesn’t make it any less true. Is it mature of me, obviously not, but that’s not what I’m going for here. You see, I call it like I see it, and that’s what I’m doing here. You don’t have to like me, but I make a valid point, and you choose to blindly ignore it because I didn’t come across like a carebear.

There are many people in this game that have little skill, and I think most people can agree with that. A mass majority of this game runs with groups so large that they never have to mash more than a button or two. Not having to use a fraction of what your character can do is not exactly a key strategy in getting better. Not only that, but you get lazy and depend on the comfort of a zerg to achieve success. Not only are there bad players, but there are bad players who continue to get worse. Again, I’m not naming names, I’m just stating a fact that a good majority of the player base is not very good. I’m a Houston Astros fan, and the Astros are an atrocious baseball team right now. Does that make me any less wrong that I am saying that they are terrible, when they are actually terrible?

I’m not saying people suck because they choose not to engage in small-group PvP, simply that their preferred method involves a reward system that doesn’t actually reward you, and that their preferred method of playing simply relies on them being at their computer and in a large crowd. I’m not trying to foster camaraderie in my post, I’m just point out why we play the way we do and just how painfully obvious it is how irrelevant the score is. Again, you don’t have to like the way I come across, but what I say is true.

What people get out of WvW is certainly up to their own prerogative. There is quite a bit of score/tier talk and I’ve simply let people know that in the long run, there is absolutely no point in caring about it as it just a continuous loop of no actual reward. If despite that, you still want an update every half hour on the score, then power to you. We understand the need for a zerg and that it is going to appeal to certain people. I’m not telling people they suck for doing it, but it involves a nonexistent reward system and if continued on its current path will quickly lead to the demise of this game. I challenge people to realize that, and try something different. If they don’t want to, then it will be business as usual and I’ll keep doing my thing. I think when a larger group of the player base starts to realize how pointless the score really is and actually starts fighting for the sake of finding a good fight, they might be a bit surprised in just how much more fun they’ll have.

i have not been able to throw seige that far up.. dont know if it is an exploit or not but unless dev’s say otherwise ( if they have i haven’t read it) standing outside a seige block zone and throwing seige back into it is not exploiting. if it was then anet would have extended the seige block radius so seige could only be placed where they see fit and fair. also the placement of those is easily countered with a treb.

Was it HoD that also did this up near their northwest Tower on their own BLands as well? Someone was doing it with ballistas, might have actually been in a previous match *shrug. Hopefully they fix that kind of stuff soon.

Well ive been trying to get people to duel in SF BL for the past 40 minutes and i had a pretty fun one with a tM ele till our zerg ruined that. I’ve been trying to duel one of the 4 ZoS dudes running around but they answer all my bows with them mobbing me :/

Well ive been trying to get people to duel in SF BL for the past 40 minutes and i had a pretty fun one with a tM ele till our zerg ruined that. I’ve been trying to duel one of the 4 ZoS dudes running around but they answer all my bows with them mobbing me :/

Different scenario, same concept. Should be more groups under 15 running around. Under 10, under 5. The whole bunch. The 30 mans should break to 20 mans, and the other 10 doing something else. One track mind leads to mad exodus’ in games and ultimate failure unfortunately

Dear SF,

Life’s been pretty boring without you here in T8; GoM is fun to munch on during prime time, but it just isn’t the same! Jumped into a GoM zerg a few days ago that looked like the zergs you gave us in the good ol’ days, but sadly I was not attacked once and within a few minutes the ground was littered with Badges of GoM. This is just one instance of course, and we’re basically playing extreme musical chairs over here in T8.

FC is still a fiesty bunch, filled with much talent and pizazz! ET is still ET idk what else to say about us lol. I guess what I wanted to say is that we’re all rooting for you big brother!! Show T7 what you’re made of, and maybe someday we’ll be seeing you on the battlefield again! I cherish all the painfully pleasurable memories with you, and still have that family photo with you and FC hanging on the shelf with our keepsakes. Make the family proud!

Wvw is only about Zerging because 98% of the players don’t know how to player vs player. I don’t want a pvp arena…. I want there to be dudes who know what the kitten their doing running around trying to kill me and our group. This is open pvp…. I’m biased but I think Sars in previous posts said it best…. There’s 13 kittening capture points on a map or something like that…. There’s a fight at maybe 2? Or one big one?

You guys just don’t have experience fighting players. I would bet 59-60% of hat 98% are here for the first time. Here meaning in a player vs player environment. Everyone Zergs at some point in their career…. At another point in their career if they are half a whitted person, they move up the ladder….. 98% are still on rung number 1.

Again, that is YOUR ladder and YOUR opinion on what WvW should be. I am at the top rung on my ladder bro. I just don’t feel like climbing your ladder. At least not yet. Plus, I know you cannot really gear yourself properly, but if I wanted small group pvp experience, I would go to the Mists.

Man ppl need to get off this go to the mist statement. Its not the same. Mist is a lot of 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3. It hardly ever is 5v5 cause u need ppl guarding points. I used to do tourneys and this is how it was, unless its changed in the last 2 months which I doubt.

Why do you need to gaurd points if your in the 5v5 for the fight and not to win or score points?
Thats what interests you guys in WvW right? Not point total or winning but finding “fair fights” right? Testing your skills against another group of players.
Seems to me spvp would be perfect for that. 5v5 and theres no chance of a zerg steamrolling you.
