I was expecting these new shields to prevent ACs and that was it. Instead it makes it impossible to push chokes against blobs. Along with those next to ACs literally makes zerg busting impossible when they throw down siege. The amount of siege a group can place inside of a small area is ridiculous. The amount of siege people can place needs to be decreased in an area.

I don’t want to talk about the new borderlands. They are only useful for higher tiers because they are massive.

kitten siege in WvW. I’m all for defending a tower but when it becomes a game of who can siege more it ruins WvW. Siege doesn’t take any skill and it needs a MASSIVE nerf.

I would consider splitting into multiple groups to circumvent the zergs and abuse their lack of mobility, instead of trying to take it head on. Shield generators are fantastic for holding off groups, but if those groups split apart, it negates the power of that main group.

We ran 6 squads tonight, all in different areas to avoid the melee-train zerg we were up against. The result (with immense help from others as well) was 480 ppt for about an hour. Their zerg was sticking to single points (like SM) while we took all of the surrounding areas. We used multiple TS channels with commander chat and coordinated movement against the zerg.

I apologize for your loss today. But your logic is flawed. You make no sense. The “strat” you’re using atm basically involves no equipment in terms of siege. Its pretty much you just bashing your head into bodies & hoping they don’t fight back, when walled off against a group of players who actually plan out all their moves, & utilize all options possible, you guys complain. I understand its pretty heated on that side. But I still fail to understand your point of view. Its pretty simple, take a step back, think about the steps you took & what you could do to improve & possibly beat it.

Other than that, I understand the complaining & I am here to talk if you need me <3

SM is an objective, though, so you’re not really making sense. As you can see in the image Freelancer posted, we were all over the place — there were plenty of fights to be picked.

I don’t think you understand. We play WvW to fight people not take objectives. We fight around objectives to get fights but it is frustrating when people hide behind siege which take little to no skill to use. Once again we are not a PPT guild we are a zergbusting guild

Back when we helped define early metas in alpha/beta, “PPT” and “Zerg-busting” guilds did not exist. People fought for their servers, it was a pride thing. We only recently came back this last few weeks so this is a new concept to me.

I’m not saying anything against “fight” guilds, but to us, if holding SM means getting “xx” more points for our server over the next few hours like we’ve been doing, that’s what matters – no matter the cost. We split into 5-8 groups intentionally for just that purpose, because running around with 20 is not as efficient.

I’m really confused… you are essentially saying you’re only interested in zerg vs zerg, and complain we are playing for actual objectives, as intended?

We only ‘hid behind walls with siege’ in SM, to defend. Our other 5 squads were taking objectives. Yet you apparently kept tunnel-visioning SM. I mean, not really sure what to say here…

You make it sound like you were entitled to taking SM.

By all means, I’m OK with losing a fight if there was an actual fight involved. 8 shield generators pretty much stripping any stability we could muster is not something that’s possible to overcome without throwing a full-on zerg at it. Counter siege doesn’t work due to positioning inside SMC, siege disablers doesn’t work because by the time you’re in range to throw it, you’ve had to blow through all your invulns and stability to disable maybe two, and that’s if you’re not being controlled to death.

If “the counter that would work (in theory)” was splitting up to go in multiple entrances… that would’ve been 3 groups of 10. That’s again, leaving us vulnerable to control in a room full of siege.

So I would like to see a change to shield generators. Even if it’s just an increase in cooldown for the crowd control it grants, since limiting the amount you can place probably isn’t gonna happen.

Don’t get it wrong, I was actually enjoying the fight until it became clear that nothing we could do would work, save getting more people.

Ahh the age old battle between the ppt guild and fight guild caught in the forum in real time. Let’s watch and see what happens!

No never mind. Everyone I’m sure has seen enough of it on thier own server. Although I must admit I still laugh every time some pug drops siege and the whole Zerg bails on the fight because sieges are for sissies.

And really it is nothing that will be solved here and is the reason you have whole servers trying to lock themselves in tiers they enjoy. So those who love fighting with siege and hiding in towers can ppt with other like minded folk. And those who enjoy open field fighting with out every tom kitten and hairy dropping siege on every bridge.

Not like you get anything for winning or that it matters at all, so you might as well do whatever it is you enjoy. We just need a post or two by the duelers next to SM complaining about being shot at, and we will have covered all the bases.

I don’t know if you noticed, but during the times you were threatening entry into the lords room we had our whole guild there to defend. It would have been easy enough to split off 5-8 guys to start taking towers and keeps while you pinned the rest of our guild in the castle. We then would have had to respond by moving out our own groups, weakening the inner line.

There was one moment where an invading mesmer got a portal down inside on the ramp. If that portal had been taken by another mesmer the entire attacking group would have made it past our siege. It was an extremely tense moment. Mesmer portals a super important in WvW. Having a group distract at one entrance while a veiled memser portals people in behind the siege is an effective tactic and it almost worked. I think the only reason it didn’t was the lack of a secondary portal to bring everyone else past the siege.

The problem with siege is that it is immobile. Use that against it and take everything else while pinning the force in place at the siege. Force the fights away from the siege by taking other objectives. Stonemist is worth 50 points. There are easily 5 towers that could be captured to make up for that, not to mention the supply camps and keeps. That’s what I enjoy about WvW, is the constant ebb and flow as forces try to counter and react to what the others are doing.
