I would just run a more spvp oriented setup. Warriors are great with bigger groups because you need a strong melee push that can CC the zergs but in a smaller group, the warrior can’t stay alive long enough. Thieves have more burst, good sustained damage and can easily disengage with stealth etc. d/d ele is also a must imo. I agree with the guardian and mesmer tho. Their support and utility is just too valuable for a small group. As fifth slot i would probably take another d/d ele but that’s just how i see it based on the current Tpvp meta.

A shout/hammerwarrior with traited horn and sword that is carried by two guardians and has a shatterdeathzone around him can survive pretty much and has high mobility.

It depends on the Mesmer weapon choices.

If your mesmers are rocking Sword/Pistol + Greatsword if would prefer a d/d-ele as peeler.
If your mesmers are using Sword/Pistol + Staff they are almost uncatchable thus favoring the warrior.

Edit: Another Plus for the Warrior is the ability to provide constant DPS on a zone of downed people. Being outnumbered the downed State becomes a serious issue.

Edit: we like to call damage from downed players: damage from hell. Sound funnier in german though and you have to say it with repulsion :-D.

I’d call it the biggest issue for smaller groups against bigger groups. They ress faster then you down people.

The night-capping complaints are becoming an embarrassment to your forces chaps. Our night team does a great job of maintaining what we’ve claimed in ‘primetime’, but let’s not pretend we field an army, just a handful of players that like to play at night. By 11pm last night we’d nuked the last of your structures in your very own borderlands; your Garrison. After that the guilds logged off. You had plenty of players, more than enough to mount a defence. A single Golem was all we needed to get into the claiming room, and a single portal was all we needed to hit your defences from behind and wipe you. You made ONE attempt to push, and only when your gate was <15% HP… it was also pretty bad. A portal bombing is not a good idea in that situation; It was too late by then, and we had more than enough damage and healing to drop the majority of your group, and a golem. With the numbers you had you could have easily wiped us with a little thought; Take the side exit, come to the water gate, repair it, and hit us from behind.

So, with the utmost respect, I think it’s time for you guys to take stock a little. Capping early and sieging up isn’t a strategy, it’s just a delaying tactic. I’d love to see you guys in the field more, you have some great guilds and we’ve had a few decent fights, but I worry how you’re going to stay relevant when the nerfs to superior arrow carts and AoE come. With one patch your playstyle and strategy becomes considerably less effective.

Eventually, at some point in the week, we will always catch you with your current strategy.

Oh, also, love to [REQ], we’ve met you once or twice I think. Liked you guys. Would be fun to set up some GvG some time? Let me know if interested and what your numbers would be, and [JDGE] will happily field an equally sized force for some fun.

We’d taken everything except one keep on your bl by the end of your prime time (ours goes on for another hour by which time we’d taken everything). We’d been ‘nuking’ you for a few hours at that point.
Our point ticks have consistently been highest at both weekend and the week during prime time.
I suggest you tell the players whining about nightcapping to log in during prime time and we might not have overtaken you.

I hate to break this to you, but you’re not facing equal numbers at weekends. I can’t speak for Gandara as a whole, but I can speak for my guild and it does seem like other guilds play like us; our structured, large-scale WvW nights are always week nights, and always towards the end of the week. We take weekends off.

[Dius] last night finished at 21:40 iirc.
[Yak] finished at 21:30 iirc.
[JDGE] finished at 23:00, but with 8 people left online.

We also have many, many players from GMT+1/2 zones that log off with you or before you. Gandara isn’t a British server. We have many people from Sweden, Finland, Italy, etc, all of which either match your timezone offset or beat it. If you’re telling me that Riverside don’t have a single player that plays past 11pm+1 then i’m going to flat out call you a liar, as as i’ve already said, even at 11pm you had more people than us running around in your own Garrison. We didn’t start nuking at 11, we stopped with your last structure; everything else was ours long before that.

This screenshot is from saturday, 21pm GMT 1, that would be 20pm GMT. We are ticking with 370+. So yeah, you got the highest ticks at weekend, “consistently” I forgot.

We’re not ticking 500 points during the night, AM are probably the strongest of the 3 during the night actually.
The middle of the night is pretty even actually. You guys usually take your bl back by 3am or so and the only things that swap on any bl from that point on are camps or maybe a breakout tower.
The only difference points wise at nightime comes from SM.

Cant say we ever found a solution , i practice a bit of a wait and hit or wait and run tactics when i see a big force , just to see if they render so i know the numbers.

Most of our members have low-end pc’s and they start laggin as soon as something aproaches , wich comes in handy sometimes.

We die due to culling i’m not gonna say we dont we do , but sometiems it pays off with our 7-10 ppl hiting 30ish we either wipe or break them.
Broke a hills siege with 6 ppl last night , RS had i think about 30 at least there, we realized how many there were the moment we started wiping them but kept on going …

See. Now put the weekend in the middle of the matchup and it would be a totally different match. I have nothing against nightcapping, as it is a 24/7 mode. All I was saying that a smaller nightcrew has much more impact during weekdays than the same nightcrew during weekends.

Its an hour after our primetime has finished. Take one an hour previously and our point tick will probably be higher, take one an hour later and the scores will probably be more or less the same between the servers

Yiishing makes a fair point. With that said, we don’t so much as nightcap, more than night hold. Primetime for us sets the stage for our night crew to hold and work on. Of course, the night crew does cap stuff too, but then everyone’s night crew caps stuff :P

Yes, changing the parameters of the match up would indeed lead to a different matchup.

But, here’s the thing; Gandara would change with it. If winning the match up depends on being tougher at weekends, we’d do that. If winning the matchup depended on dominating your keeps, we’d do that too. We’ll mix up the strategy as needed to get the job done.

There’s a reason, for example, why my guild play all our ‘big’ WvW on week nights and towards the second half of the match up; by that point we know exactly what we need to do to win the matchup. Riverside on the other hand are playing today like they did on Saturday, and it’s not working for you.

Your strategy is flawed. You’re a server of turtles without anything to actually turtle into. You have a few guilds that get out there, play aggressively and do well and are well respected by the guilds on Gandara. The rest of you are content staying behind upgraded walls, taking screenshots and claiming injustice.

Gandara are perfectly beatable; just don’t expect a Gandaran to tell you how.

I fail to see why a weekday point ticking has more impact than weekend one. Point ticks are the same, any day, any time. If you move the weekend to the middle of the matchup, sure, the score will look different on 1st 3-4 days, but final score should be the same…

You dominate weekends, and then doze off. We take weekends off, then start catching up. Its just fluctuation of population playing styles. Maybe what you need is a 4 day weekend (and I let you win, if you give me 4 days off!!)

As for screenshots at 2am, yes, looks green, but how long it looked green before you took the screenshot?

As graphs clearly show we actually start losing ground past midnight, normally highest points are at 00:00 – and while I’m GMT, my guild isn’t.

I’m not saying we better than you, just throwing away your persistent and unfounded nightcapping argument.

There are three in this thread, and several more on the DE forums. I don’t see many RS players disagreeing with him either.

Regardless, Gandara and Riverside will more than likely face each other next week. I’m really hoping RS comeback stronger next week; you have some great guilds, but we know how to beat you. Time to mix things up a little.

No real solution to culling. Countless times I thought I see a group of 6-10 only to see they were 15 or 20+

Abbadons Mouth had taken back everything on their bl except hills when i logged back in at 7, wasn’t around to get a screenshot from earlier in the day.
Think we’d just taken bay back off them around the time of 2nd screenshot. We’d held the 2 keeps on RS from about 8 on.
The EB’ers on the server are doing a pretty kitten good job tonight. That lot are a law onto themselves, they’ll be losing gandara keep tomorrow night. But as you can see each server has control of their own bl and the only thing that will flip over the next few hours is supply camps.

Riverside is not the roxxor server, just because they tick with the most points during the weekend. They just have more ppl playing at the weekend. Gandara is also not the roxxor server, just because they tick with the most points during the week. They have more ppl playing during the week.

And obviously no one has (so far) the ultimate tactics or skills, otherwise he/she/it would be already at least two brackets higher…
Too bad that two servers with different prime time / day are forced to play in the same bracket again.
Never seen less movement in the first 4 brackets in a long time. Seems like the transfer charges really had an influence, but if they intended to do that? Any thoughts on that…?

My guildleader Lonny told me that. He made me walk Wv3 naked for two hours as punishment for my PvE-affinity. He says me doing PvE is bad for our big community. He is our big boss and guildleader and no other guild would take mentally challenged people like me, so I have to do what he says.

Sometimes in Wv3 I see ghosts. Ppl spawn, despawn and respawn in seconds, multiplying themselves from 5 to 50 and bursting you from hell. Omg I feel it again, its the swag, the SWAAAAG!!!

Gandarians aren’t exactly any better than RS when it comes to standing inside the towers or on the walls when there are few enemies out there, laying siege that we need to take down. More than once it’s been just me charging into the enemy group that could easily be countered if we did it together, just to notice that rest of my fellow server mates are still running on the walls doing nothing productive. Not to mention our people seem to have this mentality that it’s better to let the walls fall and fill the lord’s room with siege rather than having a proper fight outside. Stop being such hypocrites and drop this silly flaming towards RS, thank you very much.

Sorry to intrude on your squabbles but really looking forward to fighting you guys again after reset! Especially Gandara – one of my favourite servers to go up against. You don’t ever back down (unlike this weeks opponents)
