So, is everyone excited to log into HoT and see how many achievements they’ve suddenly completed overnight?

From a month ago:
For Heart of Thorns, we are rebalancing the WvW Lifetime achievement requirements to much more reasonable numbers. At the same time we’ll also be updating many of their associated titles.

• We are not changing the Realm Avenger (“Ultimate Dominator”) achievement requirements or title, as some players have actually obtained it and it’s a bit of a status symbol.
• The “Yakslapper” title will remain, but the requirement is being reduced to 2500 yaks.
• As an example title change: “Ultimate Liberator” will become “Kingmaker”

If the defense achievements aren’t set super low, they might be some of the rarest completed. I’m proud of my defense record: 86k supply spent on repairs, 2800 keep defenses, 2300 tower defenses, 1300 camp defenses (enemies killed outside the camp didn’t count grrrrrr…). I don’t remember walking 8k yaks, but I have 8k yaks escorted.

Escorting yaks is easy. If you apply any boon to them (such as swiftness) when you pass by, they give you progress to the achievement if they reach the destination.

I’m excited. Now we know that we will be able to obtain them instead of working towards never getting them :P

If all this is doing is setting most of the WvW achievements low enough that pretty much everybody who has played remotely seriously in the last year will get most of them, this is going to be just a band-aid if it doesn’t address the huge disparity in achievement point gain between the 3 game modes.

By this point, most of the people who consider themselves WvW players are not achievement hunters, by natural selection.

For the purpose of debate however, lets say that there are a lot of WvW achievement point hunters out there. How long is it going to take for them to figure out that future effort will get no AP reward? Both s/tPvP and WvW have been rewarded far worse AP-wise than PvE, each less than 20% of the PvE total… and that is just going to get worse on Friday when new PvE achievements come out.

PvP and WvW need to be on par with PVE as far as achievement point potential goes. That means repeatable achievements grandfathered into the game to reflect time already spent.

They dont need to be on par, because PvE is by far the largest part of the game. So it makes sense that the total amount of AP you can earn in WvW or sPvP is lower than the PvE total.

Wait didn’t the majority of “Ultimate Dominators” exploit OS with kill trades for this title ? lol

I know there are some legit cases of people earning it but it’s really not a status symbol anymore due to tarnishing it with kill trades.

That is not true. The Yak must be going to a keep, SM or Garrison, and you must be within range of the Yak for a certain period of time (seems to be around 90 secs, but I’ve never timed it).

Yup, the only status about that title is that you exploited WvW. It’s not a title I would display openly lol

Actually I thought the same thing but tested it out.. What you said is true to get the event credit pop-up/karma but I tried it out today and he is right.. You can just apply a boon and the count towards the achievement will go up if the yak makes it to the objective but you do not get the event pop-up..

Now the yaks I tested on all were headed to keeps or SM and I also thought in the past that the ones that just walk to the tower got no credit since you do not get the event pop up for those yaks. Couldn’t really check if the tower yaks actually changed the number in my achievements since we had SM.

I’m close to 9k hours now and I thought the exact same thing. Funny that there is still stuff out there that I didn’t know about :P

Not true. You can camp infront the entrance of a keep and buff all incoming dolyaks with a random boon. It will count even if the event medal does not pop up.

At least to me getting rid of the impossible achievements is very welcome even though I have done far more than most of the caps. Besides Ultimate Dominator is still out there for most players and I am still about 100k away.

Got all the achievements except the one farmed one they didn’t change.

I never wear titles, but Immovable Object sounds kinda nifty.

Well, as it turned out, I got all of them now, and I haven’t played for a year now. All of the new caps are pretty low imo; defend Stonemist 500 times – I was nearly at 5k. Oh well, so much for coming back to complete those…

Game is still downloading the new content but I could log in annnnd… instant 10k AP chest due to these wvw achievement changes. Very pleased with the changes to some; I will have to get used to the new titles… some sound a bit… weird.

Gotta go to work now so I’ll leave it on downloadin… hope to get into this new WvW map when I get back!

Time to add some new achievements, I guess – I feel a bit useless now that I’ve reached nearly everything.

That’s only one I’m missing too.

I picked Unstoppable Force as my title since I’m pretty unstoppable if I must say

I’m still “the blazing light” like I promised.
(I don’t like that title, but I loved the way there)

Edit: Although “unhappy camper” is great! one of my toons has got to get that. And whenever I’m moody I will be on that toon
