I’d like to announce “Adopt-A-Dev” for the upcoming WvW fall tournament. The WvW team got together and decided to volunteer our play time to get out of the comfort zones of our own guilds and worlds and offer to play side by side with you for the duration of the upcoming tournament. We want to fight by your side, experience the ups and downs, have fun and learn together with you how to make a better WvW experience.
We are going to be looking for guilds in different leagues who wish to host a dev. They will participate in your activities and fight for the honor of your world and guild!
To make this work we need to establish some ground rules:
Have Fun!
Be respectful of the devs as people
If a dev is made to feel uncomfortable in any way, they are free to stop participating.
The devs are volunteering their free time.
Please understand they have other personal obligations outside of work and may not be able to join all of your group play sessions.
Also consider that we are located in the US Pacific time zone so we will need to factor that into matching up with your guild play sessions.
The devs are here to experience the WvW tournament with you.
They are not doing this to handle complaints, take bug reports or give information. Treat them like any other player and remember they also want to have fun.
Devs should not be taking leadership of your group
Just because they are devs doesn’t mean they are in charge
If you are a guild leader and interested in hosting a dev, please PM me with this information as soon as possible:
Your in-game name
The Guild name that you are a leader of
What world you are on
What region you are playing in
What times you typically play
Please let me know time in US Pacific time or at least include your time zone
We will be trying to spread our devs out as much as possible. I will be matching guilds up with devs based on what the dev tells me they can swing and the response. I will let everyone know when the devs have all been adopted and will post the assignments once that happens. I’m making this thread sticky for the duration of the tournament for us to post our experiences together.
I look forward to finding a good home for all of our dev volunteers and I’m excited to join you in the upcoming tournament!
I absolutely love this initiative! I already think some devs are very participative in game, but letting you guys in direct contact with multiple guilds with different views of the game in an official way is awesome. I’m sure you will have a blast and all the fun will turn into some very productive feedback. Kudos for the studio for doing this!
Ah, the Scepter of Orr. You have taken a risk to deliver this. Now I shall return the favor.
im not a guild leader (because i dont want to constantly search for, engage, and train new people) but if some of you guys happen to end up on devona’s rest then i will happily take you out duo/trio/havoc roaming (and you can follow my/my guilds lead although i will require that you at least make an effort through your build and attention to keep up).
this offer will stand for whatever server i happen to be on, any time i am online and not doing a dungeon or guild missions, you will always be free (and welcome) to follow me. currently, i can make time approximately 7pm pst - midnight weekdays, and for up to a few hours whenever on weekends (i get tired of roaming after a while and have to do something else).
it isnt exactly the pm youre looking for john, but im just throwing it out there. and if someone is interested please do contact me however you like.

This is a great idea. I wonder what kind of guilds devs would pick.
I know my world has several guilds with a small presence in WvW (mine has about 5 people at a time in WvW), but also certain guilds with a strong prestige that the entire world respects for their WvW contributions. At the same time, of those guilds, some are a part of the general public community and use commander tags for everyone to follow while others are closed-door and only operate alongside guild members in private TeamSpeak servers.
Depending on what a dev chooses, the experience could differ greatly.
oT on Fort Aspenwood would like to adopt a dev, we run NA timezone we start our raid at 6:30 PST and end around 9:30 PST. We are a hardcore, build oriented guild that require teamspeak (mic is not 100% needed, but helps)
We occasionally do GVG’s, but mostly we focus on zerg busting with 20 man groups. We help PPT, but our main focus is getting good fights. You can find our videos on youtube by searching Ominous Threat
We would hope that a dev would join us for the duration of the tournament so this dev could go back to the office at the end of the leagues and possibly get a new perspective on gvg/zerg busting guilds. We want to see this game strive, as it is currently on a downslope because a lot of people are getting tired of the same thing.

I actually had Roy join my guild for the first season, alot of people on my server thought it was really cool to do something like that, just play as another person & get rid of the Anet tag and play with us for a bit, turns out it was actually an amazing time & I ended up tPvPing with him quite a bit even after the tournament. This is the type of thing we could use a little more of in GW2. ^.^

HI JUSTICE!!!
I should mention a few guilds on Borlis Pass while I am at it. Some guilds that would likely be interested in having you include [Oath] [VNG] & [Noob]. There are others too but they are the ones that immediately come to mind.
Here on JQ, we’re always open to any Dev whom wishes to come join the fun. As an extra incentive, you may actually get to crush Josh and Roy! Who could ask for more than that???
I’d also encourage any Dev to just come pug it. You are more than welcome and I believe you may get a greater feel for how a lot of players play WvW. Especially new comer’s whom aren’t in Guilds yet. It may be an enlightening experience.
I’d rather the ‘wvw dev team’ spent their team working on, you know, um what is it called. oh yeah…wvw.
You need at least 10 of you- one in each of the top kitten, t3 servers, one in each of the bottom of each tier, over both US and EU servers. Then you need others to solo, others to join organised raids, others on ts, others not, etc to get a feel of what wvw is really like for players.
Oh, and make sure you don’t jump q’s in prime time, and also wonder around in the dead of night to experience pvd.
WvW player. Doing another world completion for my next Legendary. Hater of mini-games.
This sounds like a good idea! I hope the team joins as many different kind of guilds as possible, small havoc teams, GvG guilds, ye ol’ humongous community guilds and so on. It’s like a jungle out there!
This is a really good idea and thank you for doing this.
I was asking myself lately if the dev team is actually playing Guild Wars 2, so this is gonna be a good time to find out.
Hopefully this can also improve the mentality of some servers and guilds in WvW.. if a Dev chose to run with my guild.. I’d honestly love to hear feedback and advice directly from them to improve the way we run and operate in and out of WvW. And I can see how the Dev’s would also be able to hear and see us clearer. Especially if they were on voice comms with us. Actually listening to us communicate, lead and joining in.. That’d be amazing to actually have the Devmods work with the guilds to bring the servers and communities together once more. To make WvW even more fun and exciting than it is. Being able to take all our feedback, questions, requests, opinions etc. into consideration for future changes and updates. I think this is a really good thing to come to GW2.. I’ve seen a few Dev’s around.. even have a few I’ve duelled with and done PvP with.. It sounds like a bit of a pipe dream so to speak… but maybe the Dev’s could use this to repair the attrition that has come to the game and the players could learn from the Dev’s to enhance the game for their guildies and their server. Every little bit counts right? I look forward to the results of this.

How quick could you change the looking for group UI to include a WvW tab where you can have the options of Dev looking for Guild and Guild looking for Dev?
I am from Piken Square, I lead the Guild, Pirate Gaming. We would love this opportunity to get to know someone from the Dev team. We are a WvW orientated Guild running anything from 20-30 during raids, currently sitting in Silver league (I think).
For more information on our Guild & community please visit www.pirategaming.co.uk.
During the season we will be totally PPT focused but of course running Guild Raids!! :-)

This is a fantastic idea. I have been down on WvW lately, but I hope by all these Devs getting respective experiences outside T1/zerging servers, they’ll see some of the issues, bring it back to you, and at least out of all of this increase community engagement.
I wonder if they will spend much time in the bottom of Bronze League, wandering aimlessly through the empty borderlands.
Well, I sent the invitation for [STDs] here on Eredon Terrace and there are other guilds on my server who did it aswell… I really hope we get at least one so they can see how things are down here on the bottom of the barrel and I would love to hear their opinion (as a player at least) about it.
Hello my in game name is Melira Jofri Pern, Co Leader of Sons of Redemption on Devona’s Rest. We would love to host a Dev for this next tourney. We are a small, close knit guild and a few of us really love our WvW.
