Anet you have to do something about "GvG"
Most of the people who think they’re doing GvG in this game, have never GvG’d in their life.
@ the person who said it should be like GW1, we would need a dedicated healer class for that.
Gw1 gvg lasted longer than 2 minutes. I still don’t get where these wannabes think that zerging each other is now skilled.
I wonder why the OP left Blackgate, since it appears they are quite unhappy on TC. Better still, they should consider a move to JQ. None of the guilds support GvG apparently.
Engrish??? lol
That’s your response? Really?
Sentence structure reads perfectly fine. And bonus: there’s no misuse of their and there.
They still don’t call it Nancy, jayne
GvG is way more important to this game’s community than idiotic tower flipping, sorry
Preach on, brother!! o/
Err, I’d say WvW is good for the community. Like, the server workin for a cause is what brings the community together. Ogre, you seem cool guy, and I like your videos but I dunno if I’d call your server hoppin guild that disbanded when your guild leader got an achievement as an authority on community?
Nothin against GvG, I think there’s room for it. I think WvW is great though and there ain’t no reason to talk down about it just ‘cause siegin ain’t your thing.

Its rather telling that it is mainly Americans who have no idea about GvG isn’t it?
And the guy calling it “kill trading” is clearly trolling.
Lol I have watched GvG matches it’s a joke It was only slightly more of a joke when we still had culling issues. Yea you do have people that watch, but its because they don’t know its a joke yet its a good thing you educate them lol.
Its funny you guys talk about zergs the way you do cause we all know that 20v20 is a completely different play style from the one you’re complaining about lol.
You guys are not pvpers because 20v20 in now way is a show of skill for any individual in them and you are counter productive wvwers as you sabotage the game mode to farm bags.
Last off no one would would even care if you did it before reset, but you can’t be bothered to not kitten over your servers.
Our server doesn’t mind. I suppose very little servers do.
Maybe you should stop going to garrison and causing lag over the entire map, you’re ruining our GvG’s.

Ikr we should call it skill trading and I am not trolling at all you guys are doing almost exactly what when on on illum the only diff here is we have slow dr instead of a hard timer.
Oh and “GvG” didn’t even start till the wvw loot was buffed in fact I believe I was at some of the first if not the first “GvGs” one of my ex guildies was one of the ones that first organized it with bags in mind.

Make GvG a part of sPvP. There, fixed. But this is Anet. They’ll probably add cars to the game long before we get GvG…
No, don’t make it instanced and thus boring and repetitive. The reason why everyone I know started playing GW2 and quit after 2 months was because they wanted RvR 2.0 (i.e. open world 8vs8 fights). But there are too many things wrong with the game so that decent group PvP never developed.

To clarify for those who have never participated in a GvG:
-The loot is negligible as you stop stomping when one of the sides calls it
-Farming groups of randoms is far more profitable
-GvGs between guilds that are somewhat equal in skill last much longer than fights against groups of randoms.
-There’s a lot of downtime where you wait for the guilds to get ready
-GvGs can be any numbers from 5v5 to 30v30, or yes 8v8. Tactics and team compositions will of course vary depending on the numbers.
-It requires more skill than sitting on a siege engine pressing 1 or 2.
-Most guilds will spend maybe a couple of hours a week on GvG and the rest responding to all those reports of inc.

Then why do some guilds consistently win? If there is no skill involved, wouldn’t wins be more random?

There’s still a gap between good players and bad. However, the watered down structure of this game’s idea of GvG is deplorable. And honestly, without a dedicated healer class and the meltdown of the ‘Control’ aspect of the “new trinity” there is no brilliant display of true skill.
Look at mesmers. Once renowned for being super squishy and no way of dealing damage, they were also the most feared class in Guild Wars GvG. Their ability to shut down opponents and interrupt/distract/punish was one of the most skillful mechanics out of any game, ever. Anet decided to remove this because of QQ from people who failed at interrupts and claimed they were left out of being able to play the profession because of their ping. Now they’re a faceless caster who’s all but a shadow of their former selves. (Though I will admit I still enjoy playing mesmer, it still doesn’t live up to the master of control).
Monks: Responsible for keeping entire teams alive and absorbing large amounts of pressure. Sorry, but nothing in GW2 compares to a clutch infuse health on a target getting hit by a perfectly timed rangerspike, literally giving the player 1/4 of a second to react. Monks had to watch every single person on the battlefield, and learn and understand what was happening at all times. Sure, it’s impossible to know what every single player is doing at all times, but monks had to be kitten close to knowing just about all of it. Again, removed from the game because “monks make the game un-fun.”
This game’s references to GvG are abhorrent at best and again, like I stated before, most of the people who claim they are doing GvG haven’t. I don’t disrespect the idea of open field fighting, I do think it’s fun even though my posts may not make it obvious. However, do not confuse something that was easily the backbone of Guild Wars pvp with something that is now nothing close to the same.

Your whole argument is moot. This in not GW1 and for those that played GW1 can say that this game is much different, which I’m sure your aware of. GvG or Guild vs Guild would really be anything that has 2 guild pitted against each other. So just because you have some fabricated definition of what GvG is because you played a different game that defined it differently doesn’t mean you have any say on what it is or can be in this game.
As for comps and classes, the changes that anet makes may kill some classes viability but may buff others. Teams have to adapt, thats what makes it fun right? who wants to play the same build for ever…Monks? not in this game, makes no difference.

I have used term “turning chess into checkers” before when speaking about “GvG” , but that is giving it to much credit what it is doing is turning poker into 52 card pick up or 52 bag pickup.

Just to let you know, that playing a proper GvG in GW2 takes just as much effort as fighting alone. You’re only as strong as your weakest player. If RG or any other top guild had a short-minded scrub like you, they would never win a match.
But w/e, people with ego’s like you will never change their minds, you played a game before this and you think you have the right to decide what GvG is and what not in this game.

@OP: GvG should have it’s own map/instance but should never be with the same setup as sPvP. The majority of WvWvW players/guilds think that the stats in sPvP are too static and dull. There is barely any variety, you either go bunker or offensive. While in WvWvW, there is so much more you can do with your gear setup instead of choosing just 1 way.
GvG, as it is now, goes against the spirit and intention of WvW. Right from the start, the minute you enter WvW you are a member of the Worlds Force. A guild label should not come before the World. Anet could really pull the plug on GvG by removing visible Guild Tags in WvW.
Guilds participating should at least be considerate and smart enough to realize it’s 3 Worlds per map. You should be having 3 Guilds down at South Camp for GvG. Leaving one out at a time to spectate. Thus leaving an equal number of active WvW players on the map. All of the complaints of GvG would be eliminated if people were smart enough to do this….
Then why do some guilds consistently win? If there is no skill involved, wouldn’t wins be more random?

You guys should stop arguing about semantics. In the end you can call controlled Matchups with even numbers any name you want. The fact remains that the term GvG is a pretty adequate describtion: two guilds facing each other, nothing more nothing less. Nobody ever claimed it is the same as Gw1 GvG, neither did anyone claim it was as skillful.

Pfft.
Same argument every time from some former WoW member who feels like they are “owning” by spamming their cookie-cutter builds that were picked out for them. “This isn’t GW1 this is are am gvg in gw2.”
Please..
Anyway, where do you think the term GvG came from? No, it wasn’t the GW2 fanbois in this game who had never gvg’d from gw1. It stole the term from it’s (much more impressive) predecessor.
Get over it.
Nice try dodging the statement by throwing out blind assumptions about other people. Point still stands 2 guilds fighting each other would be a guild vs a guild or GvG to make it easy on you. And regardless of where the term came from it still applies. Yo bro you guys don’t zerg! Zerg is a race in starcraft…. :S Sounds like a “GW1 fanboy” doesn’t get what he wants. Should cry about it more and see if you can change peoples minds with your pointless argument.
Then I’ll throw the same irrefutable argument at you that I just sprung up on the other tryhard.
Anet created Guild vs Guild. Anet created GvG for Guild Wars.
Anet created Guild Wars 2. Anet did not extend GvG to Guild Wars 2.
/thread
It’s weird that guilds continually have fights that consist of 1 guild fighting another guild. I’m not sure what that would be called…maybe GvG? Anet didn’t add a game mode for GvG so people took it upon then selves to create this game mode and use WvW as the field. Regardless of want you think, until anet adds a option separated from WvW there will still be GvG in WvW.

… neither did anyone claim it was as skillful.
Move on.
Uhh, your guildie did
Then why do some guilds consistently win? If there is no skill involved, wouldn’t wins be more random?

You might want to try reading those posts again…Caliban said there is skill involved while PsychoticWaltz noted he wasn’t claiming it’s as skillful as gw1 GvG. Try harder.

You should take your issues upon the leaderships of your server as all your strategic points could be handled by the guild leaders of your servers teamspeak or messageboard.
Sooo…. as soon as I mention removing Guild Tags, the knee jerk response is to say Guild Leaders should be the server leaders too? Not much into the concept of a “World” community are we? lol
Nope and nope.
GvG is a myth in this game. Fantasy created by wannabes and tryhards who never lived up to the elitist standards that defined Guild vs Guild. Sowwy anet didn’t cater to the casuals by totally disrespecting the thousands of players who did compete honorably for the past 8 years in true GvG. But they still disagree with you. In fact, if my guild wants, it could easily just steamroll with a zerg over your silly little wannabe gvg’s and it’s well within the parameters of the game.

It was a response to your quote below, thus my response is the same. Carry on…
“Guilds participating should at least be considerate and smart enough to realize it’s 3 Worlds per map. You should be having 3 Guilds down at South Camp for GvG. Leaving one out at a time to spectate. Thus leaving an equal number of active WvW players on the map. All of the complaints of GvG would be eliminated if people were smart enough to do this….”

You’re a good troll. I’d you give you that. Keep dwelling on the past, maybe one day somebody will give you credit for all the awesome things you did in a game that barely anyone cares about anymore. Because obviously, every post you make is a shout for attention about how great GW1 players are.
Keep it going though, it’s getting quite funny.

Both Redguard and their opponents would disagree with you. However, they would be wasting time feeding the trolls.
Still can’t believe you are on Jade Quarry as its obvious you missed out when they were recently active on your server.

I’m not going to quote the definition of myth but you may want to look it up. But us “wannabes” and “tryhards” are truly sorry that anet didn’t live up to you 8 year long expectation. It must hurt knowing that you spent 8 years playing a game mode that is no longer relevant and no one cares about anymore. Time to adapt unless you think GW1 is going to make some glorious come back…doubtful…
You should take your zerg and steamroll any GvG (thats what you called them right? just want to make sure…) so you your self are not contributing to the game of WvW and are also a reason for complaint in the original topic of this post. Have fun crashing other peoples fun then either run and hide or get farmed. And before you come here and defend the awesomeness of your guild, no one cares, there are good guilds on all servers and I’m sure most the guilds on SoR and BG that GvG would be happy to open field fight your zerg any day. Maybe when your done slumming it with mag?

GvG is represented in wvw already when your guild is on a map you are fighting other guilds. Your success depends upon the ability of your commander to lead your guild mates. You gain additional forces = to the renown your commanders hold obtained through the effort put forth by your guild.
Choosing a small number of members to fight for your guild is a poor representation in comparison in most cases and due to the limited server mobility a true representation of superiority in the raking system you guys use can never be obtained.
Attempting to change the rules of a game to create the illusion of success is sickening. Of course this is pretending your not just trying to legitimize kill trading.

I was with you up until this post
Your only argument is “Guild Wars is dead”
Flash of News: More guilds GvG’ing in GW1 than this game
Not sure why people are still giving this guy attention, when it’s clear that no matter what argument is presented, he’ll just respond rudely. He would have had a valid point to argue if he hadn’t resorted to that — now all I see is troll, troll, troll.
It’s the Internet, you all know how that works, especially on forums. And frankly this thread isn’t worth anyone’s time.
Sounds to me like all the cry babies in this topic are coming from NA tier 1.
Would be more correct for any American comments to be directed at the Tier 1 section. Those guys love to blob, recruit more coverage, refuse to GvG, make excuses for open field fights, run into towers, build arrow carts, spam ballistas, and boast about how good their SEA/ EU coverage is. Those are what I call, noob casual E-RP’ers.
The people complaining are obviously inbred as hell. I would recommend just shaking your head after reading the topic creators first post.
