tl;dr for you. You obviously dont get the point of this thread.
Of course – It’s not about the pixels, it’s about the effort you put into getting something. Ascended should be special and if everyone could get it easily it would just lose its value. Also – ascended gear was originally connected to fractals – so in other words PvE so the joke’s on you.
Also – i gave an example with accessories where 1/3 can be done in wvw as well. And guild missions aren’t really PvE. If anything it’s competitive play where players has to work together in other to do something.
You realize that having ascended gear gives you higher stats, right? You also realize guild missions are still PvE because there is no other person to PvP against, right? You know this is in the WvW forums which is an actual subset of PvP because you compete against other REAL people, right? You know GW2 PvP was promoted on the premise of no upward gear progression, right?

IIRC the manifesto correctly, the entire game was suppose to be cosmetic after lvl cap, but alas against the clamor of their own player testing group,

I remember that day, It was a cold dreary afternoon in winter, I think, Where they said “Let all run the same dozen mini-dungeons and become weary” They promptly followed this up with a meeting on “How can we make SPVP an ESPORTZZZZOMGOMG1121733T GAME FORMAT”

Anet wants you to craft so that you have to buy gems. Ascended gear is a real cash bonanza for them. Its the sort of thing I expect in a F2play game.
Look at the accessories. 50 ectos to buy one. Its pretty obvious what is going on.
Getting rares has never been easier. I salvage 4-5 a day, and I’m a slacker.
