I dunno how much more can be said about this. Lots of different players asking for the same stuff. I’ve seen comments about how the system will be improved, but having no idea when or what changes doesn’t alleviate the frustraion players have been dealing with since the game went live.

Until we have an in game system that lets players form private or guild forces it will always be easier to simply run with a zerg.

Aye. It gets more and more frustrating every time your 5 man team gets just a bit larger. So easy to get separated, no way to tell where we are other than vent/ts/guildchat (which is ridiculous). Easier to just follow the zerg.

I still dont understand why Anet done just cheese out and say outright “no we wont bother doing a more featured commander interface with guild tags etc” and increase group size in the simplest way possible. We know it can be done – sPvP has larger groups and entirerly different GUI. Lets say 20 people groups in WvW. Only show name and HP bar on the right side when groups go above 5 people (5 or below, just like it is now). Done, Anet just improved WvW by a factor of 10. Everyone can see the same target, everyone can see where they are on the minimap.

We’ve ran 2-3 guild groups using the Commander and Squad system and 2-3 guild groups separately with a “bullseye” to mark a driver. By far the the C&S system was far more effective for keeping the groups together and organized. The only problem is our 2-3 groups become 7-8 groups with people expecting you to lead, sending tells and telling you to turn the pin off because you are “not leading properly”.

As effective as the C&S system is for multiple groups, it’s not worth the hassle to turn it on when you enjoying running havoc or ambush forces of 2-3 groups. They need to allow commanders to hide the pin and still retain all the functions of a squad. Nothing new here…. and still waiting for a flexible grouping system that ALL players and guilds can use.

I’m really hoping this situation doesn’t turn into a 20 page thread that gets locked and deleted after we’re advised to post in a new thread about the “perceived” shortcomings of the WvWvW grouping system.

I dunno what more you can say about it. The group UI does not work in WvW, the Commander and Squad system is completely useless for how some guilds and players enjoy WvWing. It’s been said a million times since release on these forums….

They are aware of how we feel, they acknowledged it…. that means:

A) Think the current system is fine, and not a priority to them.
B) Don’t have the resources or time to do it anytime soon, not a priority for them.
C) Doesn’t help generate revenue at the online store, so not a priority for them.

Any way you look at it, it’s not a priority to them. If it was we wouldn’t still have a broken group UI and a useless commander and squad system a year after release.

Grouping systems should be a fundamental focus in GW2. WvW suggestions are moved to the general suggestion forums and quickly buried by 10 pages of PvE suggestions in 24 hours.

The search feature doesn’t seem to be working… this post needs to be a “sticky”

I’m honestly surprised more people are not pushing for a working group UI and a decent commander & squad system. There seems to be more people concerned about the bloodlust buff then actually being able to group and organize with guilds and friends.

Flexible grouping should be a cornerstone of any social MMO that involves large scale PvP and coordination. In GW2 grouping is more of an afterthought….

Commander tags are primarily tools for leading militia

it’s not the guild groups we need to help organize. Most of them already roll in voip and get organized when they log in (jump into a team, know how to target whomever is leading).

There are a lot of good suggestions that have been raised which would help in leading the militia of random players / pugs as some call though.

You have to ask from the following perspectives:
-What would help militia outside of a tag?
-What would help commanders lead militia with more ease so they can focus on the map and battles more?

This has nothing to do with guild groups or gvg’s. Consider the absolutely untrained who is mindlessly following the commander. How can commanders utilize these players better.

I’ll tell you 2 major issues which I see brought up continuously -

1. Supply info too tight – most militia sometimes stack – ish kinda close, but they don’t know how small that radius is.

2. One of the biggest pain points i think every commander has – message suppression.

Willing to pay for boxed expansion if you put legit GvG in the box $$

Yes, that is exactly everyones complaint.

We want guild commanders in addition to the militia commander. It already works fine as the later – the former does not exist.

Anet could improve the game so much by simple additions and modifications. To recap my old and some new examples:

- Name the squad (shown on overhead map when you hover over the tag). THis is so you can name it “Camp Cappers”, “Pug Raid #1” or whatever. For overall zone organisation.

- Change the icon.

- Change the color (though I must admit this is a bit extravaganca, not really needed).

- “Private” tickbox – shows tag to own guild members, group members and the guild members of any group member. The later part is to allow cross-guild organisation – if the WOW guild has 10 members in the group and the UGH guild has 1 member in the same group, the commander tag would be shown to all WOW and all UGH.

- Group limit upped to 20 man in WvW. For 5+, small HP bars, no boons shown. For <=5 just like its shown now.

- The Commander gain more powerful variants of the Warriors different battle standards as choice of elite skills. The effect is bigger for group members.

… Has Anet really only ever thought “Oh yeah a tag, that’s great, we put it into the game! What should we do more with it? Uhm, lets make it… a blue tag! Yeah, and you can enable or disable it! Awesome! Like, an icon, yet not an icon, a tag! That you can enable! Its so perfect!!!”. No imagination whatsoever?

I’m pretty certain this has been mentioned before. Wouldn’t it be great to have commander tags specifically for guilds? And also have some target tags like “1”, “2”, “3” so target calling is easier? It would definitely help organized play, those who want to jump in and “pug” it still can and those who prefer concentrated efforts can at least have some quality of life tools. What do you guys think?

I would love visibility options for commander tags. Force only, guild only, server etc.
