It’s because everyone complains about the class they don’t play. If everyone started complaining about warriors being OP, they would nerf that aswell. So lets start complaining about the REAL OP classes.

Don’t think I’ve ever died from confusion. There’s so much space in WvW (compared to sPvP), that if you are hit with a 8-10 stack on confusion in a 1v1 you can basically just run in the opposite direction or kite around a big old rock whilst the glamour Mesmer twiddles his or her thumbs. It’s such as easy build to counter, especially if you’re also a Mesmer and have Arcane Thievery at the ready ;-)

I was a bit disappointed with the nerf, because I think the all out confusion/glamour Mesmer was just a cool build. It was the high risk, high reward of condition damage and it was just funny seeing zergoids smack themselves in the face with their weapons until downed. Although when I played a glamour mesmer 4 or 5 months ago, I remember only very rarely getting enough confusion procs off to down someone in a zerg before all of the confusion was cleansed by AoE condition removal. Was still very fun to play.

Hopefully, now that confusion has been nerfed, Anet will rethink the way scepter, torch and staff work. They all have their uses, but as condition weapons they’re extremely unreliable. It’ so frustrating when say, Winds of Chaos manages to proc only vulnerability 3 or 4 times in a row, or the fact that you have to constantly micromanage the use of Ether Bolt to make sure you don’t over write staff clones etc. And Phantasmal Mage is in serious need of some boosting too. It would just be nice to not be funnelled down the shatter/phantasm route in order to be competitive with this class.

^ +1 exactly… Confusion was not much diff from fear or immobilize * cough* thieves * cough* rangers * cough* every class. Lets nerf vulnerability now to, since it can stack over too many people…. No good

Imo Anet don t make test on their patch. Ok mesmer can already use spec confuse on litlle fights ( 1v1 ect). But anet should know that WvWvW at least in t1, t2 the gameplay is bus 40+…. Sometimes blob of 60+, 70+ players.

Confuse spec were the only way to play against big bus, blob. They killed our maner to brain ennemy with 50% nerf confuse, but in the other hand they give nothing to play now in large groups.

Ya we are useless in large groups now for sure. I wish someone from anet would explain as too why they nerfed it so much in the first place? And not like a 10-25% nerf.

I’m starting to suspect the goal is not to move mesmers away from condition builds but to move players away fro mesmers. They want more people to play warriors.

Yup, or make all classes melee/zerker the only viable builds, which seems to be where it’s at right now.

before the patch the condition was punishing far too much after the player received 4 or more stacks. To the average player that person would die from that many stacks easily.

Yeah, it had to be balanced – but not like they did now. They should have changed it so it doesn’t stack in intensity, like https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Confusion-1/first.

The idea that you should not attack when u have this condition is idiotic.

At least you have a choice, unlike with “hard” effects like stun or daze or blind.

Simply because what would you do? It is not only offensive attacks that cause damage on use but defensive ones also. Any and all skills in fact!!!! So tell me what would you do when activating any skill would cause you 1-3k damage. Just sit there and do nothing?

Exactly. But I agree that it could be taken to absurd levels – for a proper fix, see above.

The confusion condition is not just powerful because it causes damage. It can also stop the opponent from attacking if applied at a good low % of health.

That’s exactly what it was supposed to do. Like interrupts in GW.

With the new patch the confusion condition does a good amount of damage. Yet It will no longer destroy everyone with ease.
If people use there skills they will not be punished so brutally from it. Yet they will take a reasonable amount of damage for using their skills.

I would agree if mesmers had a reasonable amount of options to apply other conditions to balance for that change. Unfortunately, they don’t. Even Engis can do this better. Conditions on mesmers are now even more inferior compared to power shatter or phantasm builds than before, and they did absolutely nothing to make confusion viable in PvE. They didn’t even fix the scepter.
Still I could live with this if I could simply change my equipment to a different stats combination, as it stands now I wasted almost 500k karma and some gold on equipment that’s useless.

So all in all. Before patch OP

More like before patch op – after patch broken. Because they always break things instead of fixing them properly.

Iruwen I would have to agree with the last statement for sure. Maybe confusion was a little OP but now it is just broken that’s probably the best way to describe it instead of everyone bickering at each other haha.

trying out some power builds atm, but it’s only working for me vs small groups which wvw is not.they also fixed staff clone and sharper images yesterday, but the condition coming from there is not useful in groups either…in spvp could sure make a difference though.confusion needs a buff again as still many many builds are all around confusion..

This is the issue, the best use for mesmers in larger groups is with the glamor builds or just with portals. The shatter and power specs are largely 1v1 because that is what the abilities of the weapons are oriented towards with no aoe of any real note.

It’s quite obvious what happened; dev popped on his thief and went into wvw, and died to confusion . NERF IT! he cried…and lo and behold thieves are buffed and mesmers get demolished….

I have much more of a problem with retaliation which is permanently up – considering i pewpew for so little damage per shot but get almost 400 damage back, that’s one OP skill that really does need a TWEAK (notice Anet, a TWEAK, not a sledgehammer).

retaliation could be easily fixed by making any one player only receive one tick per 0.5 seconds or so- It’s still gonna hurt a lot as a ranger (barrage will hurt me for 3-4k, more than most players will suffer from it), but then at least it won’t be instadeath any more.

I stoped palying mesmer because now its useless
Im trying staff ele and i dont really like it
Time to make guardian lol
