I’ve jumped on the head of a few Blackgate people. I’m sure you were perfectly nice people, but I was getting frustrated. Sorry if I head jumped you.

Anet doesn’t necessarily…. not condone the act. I think the whole “FINISH THEM” is kind of humiliating. This may be because it happens to me so often. BUT.. Anet offers a cow finish, a Mad King finisher, and a scarecrow finisher. How humiliating to have a scarecrow sticking out of your corpse.

Meh. I usually spawn back pretty quickly anyway, so I don’t see the humiliating things done to my poor necro’s body.

Personally I think dancing and corpse-jumping it pretty harmless, and other forms of such teasing. /laughing, on the other hand, just seems unsportsmanlike. It comes across as completely lacking respect for the player you defeated.

That said, if there’s a stubborn corpse that wont leave our keep, whether he’s close to being revived or he’s possibly eyeballing what were doing, I’ll humiliate him as much as i can to get him to release.

My solution to corpse-dancing is fool-proof. I kill them all, so they can’t res each other.

In all honesty, I think it’s a really, REALLY carebear decision, to not allow you to see enemy player names in WvW. Too many sensitive nerds, that don’t want to be known as ‘1 of the scrubs who got owned in the 5v1’.

I’d really like to see their names sometime. Not that I’d PM them. Just to know who it is I kill. I am a fan of personal kills over impersonal kills, because they are more memorable. I mean.. At least show the names if they die – in war, you could always just take a dead soldier’s dogtags/etc and find out, so if anet was aiming for realism, show the names when they die.

There is no need to do anything humiliating to downed players (only exception is corpse spying). If you wipe the floor with someone (or multiple people), there is no need to /dance or /sit on their corpse. No need for insult to injury. Give them a curt bow and be on your way like the sir/ma’m you are.

You wouldnt happen to play a necro in game? (get it?!)

Anyway, I think its pretty darn juvenile to do these things, but they dont bother me. In fact, the more people dancing on my corpse, the more people that ARENT doing anything to help their team. In that way, I fully encourage it.

I find it endlessly humorous when a group dances/laughs/etc when they beat you 10:1. I guess if you set the bar low enough, you will always succeed.

jumping on a spies corpse is mainly for blocking the view and making him feel humiliated so they respawn btw, lying dead around to spy is lame :P

I take it as a personal duty to corpsejump every Desolation player I kill. Extra /laugh and /dance if it’s someone from IRON, screenies and colorful things if it was a lone commander.

Yeah, I’m THAT mature.

Dance and laugh freely during or before a fight, but doing so after a fight reflects poor character.

IMO either they sucked and don’t deserve further attention or they put up a good fight and earned a salute.

Sooooo…we’ve probably all been in this situation before.

You’re fighting the good fight in WvW, but the enemy finally manages to down you and defeat you. However…it doesn’t end there. After defeating you, they all proceed to stand on your body and engage in various aerobics including, but not limited to, jumping and dancing, just to rub it in.

While we all know this is unsportsmanlike behavior, I will admit that at times it is pretty funny. And even I do it on occasion. So my question to you all is…

When do you feel that post-mortem humilation is appropriate?

Personally, I tend to do it either to people who have proved to be really annoying, or who have done something exceptionally stupid. For example, if a group of players chases me all the way back into my spawn and gets killed by the legendary defenders…you can believe they are getting jumped on lol.

The only time I find it to be unsportsmanlike is when your soloing a small group and the 5+ of them actually manage to have a brain and kill you. You have no reason to celebrate at that point, especially if I downed half your group lol.

Just noticed how old this post is lol.

I usually reserve such antics for thieves who try for an easy kill, fail, attempt to run away, then die. After a failed gank & spank, you deserve the corpse jumping.

when I get killed solo I usually open my map immediately, so I can decide where to rez. sometimes rather than choosing a waypoint I’ll close the map to do something else (like check my bag space) to find enemies dancing around me.

I assume they’re putting on this show for my benefit, but I doubt they realize that at least 80% of the time, I never see any of it.
