Currently you don’t get any reward if you defend a post and are “unlucky” in that no enemies actually show up. This needs to get fixed, so the people who defend and therefore hold the stuff we captured are recognized as heros, not missing out on everything and then feel like idiots.

Unfortunately to implement a passive “being on defense” reward system only invites a swarm of bots the likes you’ve never seen. Perhaps more rewarding system for upgrading, higher rewards for actual defensive combat, etc. to make up for the lack of continuous xp/karma/etc.

They can actually add a buff to players who are defending, if you are within the keep you get a boost akin to the benefits of ‘outmanned’.

How about a 20% increase in badge drop % within the area of an owned structure. That would be enticing.

Well, we can only hope Radiohead. Its not like Arenanet reads these forums anyways.

I think the problem lies in, people aren’t compelled to defend much.

Firstly, theres the problem of nightcapping. Secondly, people get the keep back just as quickly as they lost it anyways.

A lot of tasks in WvW feel like thankless, unrecognized work. Maybe something more could be added. I mean, you get xp for repairing/building things. And if you attack a player, npc, or siege from inside before it dies, you will get karma, etc. for defending the structure. There are still places where you don’t get any rewards. Escorting a dolyak only sometimes gives rewards. I like the increased badge drop chance idea.

You know why escorting dolyak event has been suspended? Massive amounts of players and bots had been following dolyaks all day doing nothing else to just get the rewards for the event before suspension.

I have to say there should be a radius for escorting Bessie the Dolyak which the longer you stay within it for the escort the more karma/XP you get… I’ve defended Bessie a lot, she means a great deal to me. There have been times when I’ve been paying for upgrades to Sunny and to see her come over the hill is such a morale boost as she brings the supplies that makes spending my hard earned silver worth while.

I do think those paying for upgrades should be rewarded somehow as well. If you’re protecting a keep/spot you should be rewarded, perhaps a counter for the time you spend there and when the keep finally gets attacked maybe as someone suggested an increased number of badges and what not or drops….

Something that makes it worth while for the waiting. I spend most of my time with the keeps I spend coin on to upgrade and call out incoming but I do feel that there should be a penalty for taking supplies from a Keep/Castles Supply Stash… say you get 5 instead of 10. People just don’t understand that its for upgrading stuff and it gets annoying!

They should’ve made the dolyak rewards centered around things things that only effect WvW.

WvW is a completely different game mode to PvE, the moment they blurred the line, people start to do WvW for completely different reasons. Look at the bots farming Kraits.

Games should not be designed around bots, bots should be something that get rid of… not getting rid of content for bots.
