Engineer bad for zerging?
I would argue in the frontline something like double guardian double warrior Engi can often be better than just pure heavies myself.
Yeah… I run Settlers engi with p/s, 6/0/6/0/2 with healkit, grenades, bombs, Elixer S, and Supply Crate (it’s the only viable Elite, IMHO), and I am stupid durable and provide a lot of support and (condition) damage. It’s a hybrid build, so it doesn’t max DPS or Support, but it provides some good fields, blast finishers, and a lot of condis (AoE Poison is really, really strong in WvWvW group fights, btw)
PS: If your guild is freaking out over you wanting to run a class they don’t like, maybe you need to find a less crappy guild O.o
Edit: Got Alchemy and Inventions traitlines swapped. Fixed.
Mains — Mathias of the Wood [Ranger]; Collaborator Bluatt [Engineer]

The engineer lacks support when compared with the FL standard dudes guardian and warrior, so this is how i play my frontliner: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdQQJAqelUUpPrdexvLseNiaBF6MuxAI6rEys8pIA-T1BEABDqEUR1fsS5HAPAgHOBAxs/wd6BIDQxYA-w
What you basically do: spam “1” as long as green numbers popping but dont get attracted by your heal – you just dont completely waste the time youre not bombing. When the commander calls for leap, do Slick Shoes+Rocket Boots. Slick Shoes work while in “air”. Hitting a valuable number of people needs some decent practice but you can disable really REALLY fast the enemies backline. Or frontline – depends what youre aiming for. Bomb-5 is, along with Slick Shoes, your strongest skill. Use it wisely and use it to stop the frontline from moving – even if its just stops them for 1/2 – 1 second. This build forgives alot of mistakes but you need to train a little foreseeing in order to master the bombs in zergfights.
