Wait what?

This is a shout-out to Gunnars Hold players.

Recently some of us have begun a restructuring of the way many of our guilds interact for WvW. However, we are well aware that a lot of guilds putter out to WvW and don’t generally interact with others, thus lessening their own enjoyment of WvW probably without even realising it. What we’ve begun doing is changing the entire structure of our organised WvW. Details obviously can’t be shared here but this seems like a very good time to try and bring more of our good people into WvW alongside their server buddies.

I’d like to invite GH-based guilds that tend to stick to themselves to dive into the wider community, with shared comms based at gunnars-hold.eu. Although it is mostly used for WvW, it also has areas for PvE and sPvP. Why bother if your guild is only PvE’ing? Because it means you can simply switch channel to tune in to WvW and maybe you might find you want to join in. It also means its very quick to switch if you’ve finished whatever guild events or dungeoneering you might have going on and feel like some random mayhem. Also, there are regular PvE events (mining runs etc) that are organised through these comms.

Most of the time, the WvW comms is very relaxed and a good laugh. There are times when great focus is needed so the banter gets throttled back a bit in favour of stopping all those pesky loot bags from running around (picking them up is sooooo much easier when they are forced to remain still). To date, we’ve not had any issues.

This post is not just to invite the PvE’ers. As mentioned, those that are already out and about in WvW or even solo players that feel a bit left out at times would probably greatly benefit from seeing the wider picture. By being involved in the comms, you get the wider picture and a greater sense of involvement. You’ll probably also get more loot bags by the expedient of having greater knowledge of what is going on immediately around you. Guild size is not an issue. We have guilds that field 1 player per night and those that field 30.

The more we communicate the better we can exterminate.

but seriously – as Roo has stated it’s a very fun and friendly environment with no prejudice or ‘must do x or y’ kind of attitude. Just a lot of GH players getting along well together, organising events and fun and generally having a great time!

he also forgot to mention that we provide nice leaders to those who are new to W3 (that means, they will not yell on you when you screw something first two times) and very comfortable environment in our defences – clean soft beds, no vermin except some outlanders

We have done the turnaround in WvW after falling down week after week from T2 and are winning this week in T8 (at the moment). Great time to join us! If we continue like this we might get back a spot in T7 aswell. Lots of Gunnars out and rolling, withstood a 8-hour attack on SM by both enemies, leading by 30k this week, things are much more enjoyable then the weeks before. Take your chance and join us now!

I’m WvW a couple of times a week so I’ve asked my guild leader to grant me WvW access on the forums, as soon as that’s done I’ll get chat sorted.
I’ve noticed that GH are doing a bit better at the moment and we had some great fights on sunday night.

My guild generaly has a WvW night on Sunday but it’s hard to get the numbers.

The first week of continuous play in the new structure is nearly over. Its too early to tell how successful it will be long term but bumping this for any GH players or guilds that are looking to get together with the larger team.

I would also like to take this opportunity to invite previous emmigrants from GH that had a track record in working well with the community to send observers back here and see if the changes might make it worth your while to come back home. We won’t be able to grant access to the strategy and planning but you are welcome to fight alongside and check out the changes the community have worked hard to put in place.

Can only speak highly about all those in our community old and new.

I still think that GH is lightyears ahead of some other servers in terms of organization and the comunity is amazing there!

I am not from gh, but must say great recruitment post. Looks like you ppl have nice community there. Compared to that ruins of surnia alliance recruitment ….

+1 to this from Piken. Still fondly remember the fights we had, solid WvW community, dedicated, friendly and its great to see you guys are re-organising and trying to push back up to where you should be!

Thank you Snowstorm for your kind words. I remember also that from all the opponents we faced those months, Piken Square was by far the most organised and respectfull.
It is no surprise to me that you guys are doing so well, plus i have some friends at Red Guard so i am wishing you the best.
I am amazed about how better we seem to be doing the last couple of weeks.
New people join wvwvw every day asking directions and advices and noone is giving them a hard time. That alone to me is a sign of a healthy server.

Just like to add my little bit I am one of the single players in GH wvw but when I log in it’s like a family to me I am always welcome and never struggle to get a group to play in. The players that I have got to know are very nice and helpful .Take it from me you are never by your self in GH wvw

I am another player from a tiny guild where only I play WvW regularly.

Finding the community forum and the community Mumble channel was a real eye opener for me. I can now log in to the Mumble channel and immediately get into a group if I want to where we are all on voice comms.

I can take an active part in the big WvW events that we are organising on an almost daily basis and I have even put forward ideas and plans for our WvW efforts and events that have all been given as much consideration as those plans made by our biggest guilds.

Being a member of the community forum and Mumble is like being a part of a 500+ member Guild! We all play together, we co-ordinate, we create balanced teams, and above all we have a huge amount of fun with none of the drama of big egos.

If you are a WvWer on Gunnars Hold, please come and join us. It will change your whole outlook on WvW. It did mine! – I only went to WvW for map completion, saw a map chat message advertising the forum and haven’t been back to PvW since!

I’ve been a gamer for 25+ years and this really is the best fun I have had in that whole time.

Good luck Gunnar’s Hold from PS! still my favourite match up! anyone skimming this thinking of transferring their guild get in touch with gunnars hold, they know what they’re talking about and deserve more bodies to make it happen.

Likewise, kyus. Piken was a great opponent, very skilled and gracious in victory. From what i could tell our servers had similar outlooks and perhaps that’s why we had such fun against each other. It was all about fun and fair fights, kitten the points, lets get stuck in and beat each other up. I still remember it fondly.

As for any GH PVE players/guilds wanting to try out WvW – please get in touch. Don’t worry about feeling lost or messing up, we have community members who give regular wvw tutorials and who are very good at answering questions. The GH community is amazing, we have dozens of guilds working together with no egos. The glory hunters left long ago and took the drama with them. What’s left is a committed and mature playerbase whose primary concern is being as good as we can be without compromising our integrity or letting points get in the way of a good time.

Right now we’re a tier 8 server who are currently working hard to reach tier 7 – which i think we’ll achieve in the near future. However, with some more players and hard work we could go even higher. We have the infrastructure and organisation in place, and thanks to a number of people, some of whom have posted in this thread, we are improving day by day.

Recently we’ve had a few guilds join us and they’ve played an important part in our recent success. It’s been a long time coming, but finally our prospects are looking good. If anyone else reading this is looking for a friendly and mature server, for themselves, or for their guild then i’m sure we’d love to have you.

Technically a bump, but given we’ve had an influx of people to GH recently, I once more want to prompt people to join on the community comms at gunnars-hold.eu.

Although WvW is my only focus in this game, we have many active and passionate PvE players. I don’t pretend to understand them, but I support them too. Well, at least morally. If you see me doing a dungon somewhere sometime please don’t tell anyone

But please, if you are playing on our server and looking for greater depth in your WvW experience, please please get on comms with the rest of your team mates.

Nothing is perfect and neither are we – if you are here and are bashing your head off a wall because you can see something obvious we could be doing better, please please get in touch. You’ll find most of us willing to learn and are not too proud to admit such. If you’re on our team and can see ways to improve us, throw your ideas at the rest of us.

Although in recent times we appear to be doing well, we are well aware that we have a (very) long way to go, a tough road ahead and are in no way in a position to be lofty and big headed. Heh, I’d argue even if we do get to a position where it would be tempting to do so that we avoid that community-destroying behaviour.

To reiterate/summarise – if you are on GH and you want more from WvW please contact the community-serving comms and forums based on gunnars-hold.eu – worst case scenario you get a bit of a giggle. Best case? Well, thats how far you want to take it

We’re organising an open WvW contest that will run for a month (10.02~10.03) and will reward people with most WvW kills, caps and defences done within that time. The current pool for rewards is 71g and still rising.

To say they are lessening their enjoyment is incorrect. I know my smaller guild will get together and just grab supply camps, roam and do our thing while in vent and having fun.

It is more fun for us then being in server voicechat and being told what to do and when to do it.

There is nothing wrong with either style of play, but don’t act like guilds are not having fun if they don’t play your way.

You can do this!

In the Gunnar’s Hold community nobody is told what to do. You can also have complete autonomy as a guild group, in fact, this is encouraged.
