Hacking/Cheating back in full force, again
Please stop complaining about those hacks, Anet seems to approve them.
WvW hacks? Where do we start?
Cross profession skills hack (eg. Elementalist who uses death shroud, warr who uses ele skills.)Saw that today, an SOS warrior (had two warrior signets showing) using Mist Form.
That’s nothing, I got feared off a cliff by a thief from SoS. Since when can thieves use fear? There was no one else around except him. Also saw a necro yesterday who could use mesmer’s blink.
It’s possible the "steal’ you saw was another gap closer. Thieves can get fear from necros pretty reliably, and are smart to sit on it while roaming, especially near cliffs. Not saying he wasn’t hacking, but good chance it was just misidentified skill usage. As for the necro “blink” as you claimed it, if they put flesh wurm up somewhere, even if it is out of range, they can teleport back to the flesh wurm by destroying it. If it’s out of range though they won’t go all the way to it but it will appear to be a “blink”. A smart necro will also know how to use Dark path on a bunny or other ambient mob to get a free teleport away without going into combat.

Thieves get a ‘skull’ that will fear people when they steal. Believe me, I know.
Does ANET publish numbers on players banned with reasons why they were banned?
JQ Ranger
I only know of the teleport hack. If I’m being a look out at a tower and I see someone running towards the tower only for them to disappear and then reappear on the wall or inside the tower….something isn’t right.
The annoying thing is there’s basically no way to report them since you don’t know their name and nothing you can report in game with gives is appropriate or allows you to explain what happened. I don’t feel like Anet really care to be honest :{
What about this:? http://www.arenajunkies.com/topic/243352-interrupt-hacking/
There is currently an issue with people using semi automated bots. So 90% of your gameplay gets automated for you including perfect burst rotations etc. The only thing you have to do is move, initiate combat and inititate burst.
Gw2 has this as well, notice that someone always interrupt u and seem to avoid all CC, root that u+your allies cast ?
(Due to TOS, I can’t link the sites)

WvW is not supposed to be fair. And it’s about factions, not 1v1. so at the end you will have cheaters on both sides and things will balance out. Therefore there’s no need to worry about it

Best. Post. Ever.
This let me sleep at night again and appreciate the hackers on the other servers for balancing the ones ones on ours until I thought… What if the T1 servers buy out all the hackers?!
I give you some constructive advice: BAN THE kittenG BOTS AND HACKERS
A Skritt is dumb. A group of Skritt are smart.
A Human is smart. A group of Humans are idiots.
Seriously though… pretty sure you can still document it and report to exploits@arena.net
I’ve noticed usually guilds and opposing servers will help root out their own hackers if you have evidence. And the hackers are usually PvE players and lower tiers (from my experience) because in WvW, their account isn’t going to survive very long. Best way to find a hacker is on your own server. Who wants that trash in their guild or representing their server?
i am thinking about to quit playing gw2 after this cheat problems.
Over the past few days I’ve seen:
Unstompable player, Player with no cooldown on downed skills, teleport hack.
And quite sure zoomhack is still pretty common too, and not talking about the resized window.
Happened to me today when trying to stomp someone. Not sure was it because of lag but i could hit the body when hitting air to the side of the actual model. Couldn’t stomp though.
I have had this happen with players I tried to rez. You stand right next to the corpse, but you don’t get the rez option. They ask in /say “rez plox?” and I can only say “sry, can’t target you”.
if i recall correctly, that’s actually the exact same issue. it’s not a hack, and it’s not an exploit. it’s the after effects of a lag spike. when the person gets downed, they can’t be stomped, nor can they be rezzed, but they can still be damaged through normal means.
Anet is actually in the clear on that one, since there isn’t anything they can do about latency issues. Don’t get me wrong, they could alter the game design to account for them, but that would mean removing the downed state and apparently that’s their baby.
misidentified cheating is also a problem, because the real cheaters get a red herring to hide behind while people who aren’t cheating are being reported. take the “zoom hack” accusations. yes, sometimes someone actually is using a zoom hack, other times they’re not. there are ways to fire a cart into a tower that isn’t cheating. just set it up against the door, and you can look over the gap above the door to aim it. bad game design, sure, but not cheating. if a cart is firing into the tower, see if there’s one set up near the gate. also, pay very careful attention to where the CENTER of the red circle is, when the carts are firing onto the walls. the center can only come to the edge, so anything more than a half of a circle on the wall and it becomes questionable at the least. it then boils down to three possibilities. eyefinity, abuse of windowed mode, or a zoom hack. Anet won’t do anything about eyefinity or abuse of windowed mode because blah blah blah BS excuse. the truth is, they just don’t want to be bothered, and don’t have the balls to offend someone who might possibly have enough cash to buy three monitors, because they’re hoping some of that cash will be sent their way. which means that actual zoom hackers end up with a free pass, because they just need to lie about it and it can’t be proven otherwise.
That being said, however, there are ways to prevent cheating. The game’s launcher can be set to scan the game files each time someone logs in. If the files have been altered, or if additional files have been added, it would detect that. It only adds a few extra minutes to logging in, which is a perfectly acceptable tradeoff. Programs such as punkbuster can be used for real time monitoring, which would cover most third part hacking programs. Sure, there will always be new cheats coming out, and the anti-cheat program would always be playing catch up, but that’s preferable to people using the same hacks for a year and a half seemingly unhindered. IF they at least take measure to prevent cheating,a nd actually ban players who are cheating, then that sends a message. If they turn a blind eye to cheating and the same person can get reported by hundreds of people for several months straight and not recieve any bans, then that also sends a message. If they crack down on exploits that give people a few extra silver in PVE with permabans, but do nothing about rampant cheating that affects the outcomes of WvW matches, that also sends a message.
They’ve been broadcasting their message loud and clear since launch: “If you have a naughty word in your character’s name, or benefit from one of the numerous design oversights to earn a minor measure of imaginary currency, you’re a plague upon humanity and must be purged from the game. If you use third party programs, or abuse the terrain, you’re untouchable. If you’re a PvE LS tourist, you’re a saint and everyone should bow down and bask in your aura. If you play PvP, you’re contributing to the esport delusions, and get some slack. If you play WvW, you’re not wanted in this game, and we’re constantly thinking up new ways to drive you vermin out.” They should post that on their front page, and call it “GW2 Manifesto 2.0, the factual one.”

There is a very simple reason that Anet does not do anything about cheaters/hackers in this game and that is “They buy gems”
All this company cares about is $$, I have lost count of how many players I have reported for using hacks/cheats and all of them still log in to this day.
I will take this moment to promote the few servers in wvw where cheating is almost non-existant.
Namely; drumroll Tier 9!
You’re very welcome to join us if you want a cheat free game (which can also be enemy-free if you’re on in the wrong time) and we still manage to cap towers… and even SM! gasp

Actually low pop server has its share of cheater as well. Of course , if you see no enemies or friendly , it also mean you see no hackers.

Of course they only care about money. That’s what a business is for. But, I’m with you on how poorly they go after botters and hackers. Day in and day out they’re easy to find and spot, yet months and months go by with nothing being done.
Reading the previous posts, I am sure I get reported daily for using my class skills.
People can be dense..Im a warrior that got reported for switching my weapons to fast…The guy said i have no cd on my weapons…Its a trait called fast hands. Some people are just clueless, and report people based on their own ignorance and lack of knowledge about any class, even when they play the class themselves..
I met this necro in eotm. He went supersayain and killed me while i was using all my mobility skills on a warrior. I knew something was up with him when he ran circles around a zerg and dosent take much dmg since ppl are like ‘’kitten is he on’’ I got him to chase me but as you know a necro with speed will be a nightmare for any poor soul… there was no escape.
Theres a twich vid by a streamer named Shinryuku_ku that shows a ranger using something to what i faced.
Heres the link http://www.twitch.tv/shinryuku_ku/c/3732584
WvW has had its bug for months, you can find them on Youtube, basically, the EB left corner has only Aldon as a safe tower, the others can be entered without taking down any wall/gate. This doesn’t require any hack or strange program, you just need a blink/infiltrator’s arrow or skills that teleports you.
I’ve reported those bugs to Anet exploits e-mail but nothing has happened, I don’t know anything about programming but I feel like adding an insivible wall on those bugs isn’t really hard and doesn’t require months of work.
Obviously if those bugs are so easy people are gonna abuse of them..

I think it’s because of a difference in heights. It happens a lot on stairs.
There’s also downed opponent rallying in wvw without having anything that was killed first.
Could be banners or other skills.
In b4 thread lock.
A few weeks ago we were attacking some close towers on EBG with a rather big pug zerg when a mesmer started dropping portals for us. First tower, we figured he had just been hiding in there. Second tower (enemy held for 3+ hours), not so much. Everyone on teamspeak got kittened and moved on but of course we couldn’t stop the pugs from flipping it. He did it on a 3rd tower before we could spot who it was, after which he left. No one saw how he got in, but it obviously wasn’t legitimate.
Yeah… Some days ago a mesmer hopped on front of me on the walls and opened a portal entrace ( the zerg waited front of the walls). Fortunatly he was a nab zerker and i was on my ranger so i killed him with a knock back and a rapid fire. I left the tower and he came back and he flipped it.
Just the WvW
R3200+
No possible way he could have gotten fear from anything to use it against me. And he had already used steal from me during the fight. so he definitely didn’t have a fear saved up from before.
Steals can be held on a thief for a VERY long time. I frequently keep a stolen stealth for 10+ minutes without cycling it.
