How Anet Can get PVE'ers To Play WvW
They don’t need new WvW titles, they just need to fix the existing ones. To get the ‘Yakslapper’ one for example, you’d need to do nothing but kill Dolyaks for about three years.
Anet is thinking how to get WvWers to PVE, not the other way around. cant u tell?
More pve’ers to wvw would just mean more zerglings. There’s nothing wrong with running in a zerg if that’s your style, but we just do not need more of them.
I agree that we need less pve’er zerglings around….but on the other hand as a solo roamer the vast majority of that type of player is super easy to 1v1.
Arguably, Anet wants fewer pve’ers just zerging for tokens since they’re giving out so many badges just for having achievement points.
PvEers don’t want to WvW because they’re used to the PvE game. The solo-friendly (outside of Orr) experience. When they do WvW, they either quit soon, or join a zerg. Know why? Thieves.
No, this is not a thief is OP type rant, this is a simple explanation. Random PvEer is running around, sees noone, then gets killed by thief. The random PvEer is not used to mobs spawning from out of nowhere and taking out half his health in one hit.
So he respawns, and goes to where he died, thinking “now I know he’s there, now I get to kill him”. He dies again, because thieves are hyperhard to counter when you’re at that level. Again, not a thieves are OP rant.
After respawning, the PvEer has a choice. Either quit, because the experience is just not fun when at any time there could be a thief right next to you, or go join a zerg. The third option, call up a few friends, is very, very rarely used.
So, the thing that keeps people away from WvW in this game is very simple: thieves.

Maybe. just maybe….some people don’t want to wvw just because they find no joy in killing other people.
PVE’ers does not like WvW. Arrow carts to break blobs was a joke. Unless Blob Wars 2 gets fixed, people are going to either quit or join the bigger blobs. I’ve seen a few guild(s) who left a pretty dead time zone from top servers to join a more stacked server during that time zone. Everyone wants to be part of the bigger blob. Anet needs a real fix to blob busting. I doubt thieves are the only problems with the game at this time. They are a nuisance at best…
Also, repair fees. PvEers are really, REALLY not used to such a HUGE amount of repairs in a short time… The only way to avoid those: pick up a long range weapon, join a zerg. Or quit.

To get PVEers into WvW, make it I dunno, a viable way of making money. Or, wait til people flee the game and each server has not enough population to defend their stuff. Because it really feels like PVE when you’re taking an unmanned keep.

It is part of their stated goal of discouraging mindless zerging. Later comes direct encouragement of mindful large-scale combat. If by “PvEer”, you mean a player who prefers not to fight against other players… please don’t wish for them to enter PvP modes more often. Wish for them to be given every reason not to. It’s better for all of us that way.
RvR isn’t “endgame”, it’s the only game. Cu in CU.

For one I desire for Rally to be completely gone from WvW. Not the downed state, but Rally then I will be more enthusiastic about WvW.
