the only actual real problem i see with the thief if the insane amount of mobility + master of stealth + the insane amount of regen a thief can get while STILL going full berszerker. 500 health a second while in stealth while clearing conditions is pretty overpowered, by a long shot. not to mention they can reset fights at the flick of a wrist, go from 20% hp to 100% hp after some cheesy stealth healing, and still pump out 10k cnd+backstab combos. (not to mention heartseeker). if you are still defending this class after this reply, you do not have brain.

What do you suggest? Get rid of stealth, destroy a thief’s mobility and make them the weakest class? If that was the case a thief would no longer be a thief- it would create a new class. And yes, I will still defend this class after your reply because your reply is totally inaccurate and exaggerated. It is impossible to reach 500 hp regeneration, clearing conditions is limited to 1 every 3 seconds (while every class has an additional condition remover) and the low base health of most thieves is the reason for high percentage health gain. Futhermore, most classes can pump out 10k damage after a few hits. It’s not difficult.

In addition, if you have to resort to insults to get your point across about a computer game then you are either 12 years old or there is something wrong with you.

That clip is also from January… thieves have been nerfed multiple times since then… despite not needing it.

Not to mention the lovely blind buff last patch. Thanks to it, my thief no longer regenerates in stealth so quess it was a nerf after all.

Shadow’s Embrace trait (condition removal in stealth): way overpowered because it almost makes thief immune to condition damage but I can’t think of how to nerf it without overnerfing.

How about just remove it, and give the Thief some real condition removal that isn’t tied to Shadow Arts. We Thieves that don’t use Shadow Arts are just begging for some condition removal.

I’m sure eles that don’t want to spec into water want good condition removal too. Ohh, maybe rangers want to do it too without taking healing spring or speccing into wilderness survival? Or perhaps guardians who dont want to spec into honor?

What does that have to do with disincentivizing stealth focused Thief builds?. You missed the point and/or you just are just venting some unrelated tangent.

The point was that currently the way that a Thief has to spec to get more condition removal is into the [often loathed my all] stealth trait line. The point I raised was to address the imbalance between Shadow Arts and Acrobatics (for the defensive trait lines). If the condition removal was moved somewhere else, it would make make the other traitlines more viable, and Shadow Arts less of a no brainer for many people.

Also, you Guardian example is BS.

I would much prefer the old blind if my thief got cluster bomb back to 1,200 range attack to help defend a tower/hit siege with… instead of being the ONLY class that’s range attack capped at 900…

Ugh. My point is that other classes also are forced to spec into certain tratlines to get good condi removal.

The big problem with thieves in WvW is that they take advantage of new/bad players. There are a LOT of these in WvW. Does that mean they should balance based upon new/bad players? Nah, because that would kill depth in the game.

Actually in a way yes the game should be balanced based upon new/bad players in fact this is vital to the longevity of a multiplayer game, otherwise you can easily end up in a situation where someone enters for the first time, constantly gets stomped and never goes in again. This does not mean that there can be no depth, you’re creating a false dichotomy. Every profession needs a build that has a low skill to high power ratio. This of course isnt to say it should be the most efficient or the most powerful as it shouldn’t be but that there needs to be a way for new players to feel like they’re not a free kill the moment they step into WvW or PvP.

This is the reason why there’s the noob tube in CoD.

Sorry, misleading with how I wrote that. I should have written “should only balance based upon new/bad players” I agree with you about foos. Hope that clears things up.

The new players can learn. That game shouldn’t be balanced around them since they can learn. If they don’t wish to put any effort in learning how to play the game, then we don’t need them. They will just quit the first time something comes along that is a challange.

If they don’t feel they can do anything, we are better off without them playing. Last thing I would want is for my team to have a bunch of the quitter because it is hard types.

We were all new to this game and we learned how to play, at least most of us. If this game was balanced around new players, this game would get boring real fast after we learned how to play, then we would get bored for it being too easy.

I speak for my self and no one else. Only fools believe they speak for a majority.
