If you could destroy your world's orb, would you?
no because this would take away the main goal in WvW.
Once the server transfers are done and the server matches are somewhat balanced it will be pretty hard to take an enemies orb and even harder to hold onto it so i doubt there will be any problems then
Orbs give a huge advantage and should be gone from WvW.
There is already enough of a lack of incentive in WvW, taking orbs away would just increase that lack, so why do it? Yes they provide a advantage thats why you dont let the enemy take them, if they do well organize an attack to get them back that is how WvW is suppose to be. Also its not a fair game, its not intended to be, its the casual pvp of GW2 as stated by devs. The orbs provide more incentive, more goals, and require organization and effort, dont take that away.
I’m not talking about taking orbs away from the game as a blanket decision at all. I’m asking if people had the option to destroy THEIR orb, even if it was only on a temporary basis, would they take it.
How would it even be decided? A server wide poll? Commanders?
The orbs should not give stat bonuses to the team that’s winning, that’s for sure.
Why developers continue to reward winning players with more in-game bonuses completely astounds me.

A simple fix would be for orbs to not give buffs to the enemy if they capture it, but just deny the buffs to the world that loses it.

I’d like to see the orb bonus reworked; that stat buff was mighty enough to make killing players feel hollow.
On Devona’s Rest, I’d absolutely get rid of it. It’s not terribly fun fighting superior numbers constantly while they also have +3 orb buffs.
Orbs should only give PvE bonuses.
3 orbs gives 150 vitality aka 1500 health plus 15% health on top. Thats pretty much, specially for glasscannons that can almost get a total of 50% more.
-Players could grief their own server by destroying the orb when it’s not in danger
-“Spies” can destroy the orb to deny the world the buff (Although they’d be stuck for 24 hours)
-A team about to lose the orb would simply opt to destroy it every time rather than lose it
-Where would it reset? The original alter? Sure a home team that destroys the orb would deny it to the enemy, but once it respawns it’s easily taken anyway. An enemy that destroyed the orb rather than let the home team take it would easily be able to get it back when it respawns.
Overall a bad idea, unless restrictions were put in place such as only the home team may destroy the orb, but there’s still room for griefing.
If I could press a button that would destroy all orbs forever I would do it in an instant. Their snowball effect can make winning feel hollow and recovering from losing far less likely.
The undermanned buff should be more like the orb bonuses (and actually activate and work properly) and orbs could either be deleted entirely or have some PvE karma/magic find % stuff.
