There are 4 jp in WvWvW (3 of them are exactly the same but still). And yes, it’s a pvp zone so pvp should be allowed in there. Normally, the one in your borderland should be mostly camper free and can be done once a day easily. It’s not a game concept problem, it’s a player problem. An infinite circle of I got ganked last time so this time I’m ganking. Depends of the servers your facing, solo players in there are usually non agressive, it’s when they start being in majority that suddenly they start attacking. Try different time of the day to do it, that’s what I do, if there is a ganking squad, I don’t try for hours in the hope to get it, I just leave, do something else and come back later.

The ONE thing I would remove from the JP (in EB at least) is the mesmer portal (I can hear all the mesmers and JP campers guilds yell at me for that lol). But here’s how I see it: It’s a JP, you should have to do it to get your reward and mesmer portal go against that. Plus, if you want to jump down the arena and gank some oncomming invaders, then you should have to climb your way back after.

The rest is up the players, if their fun is to spend hours in the JP ganking small groups and solo climbers, then it’s their thing and they’re not helping their server conquer. Sad life for them and sad for their server who don’t have all the able bodies on the battlefield.

Pvp is one of the aspect of GW2 and requesting to be able to absolutely avoid it and still get the best reward of the game isn’t reasonable. Pvper have to do the pve stuff to get theirs….actually, there is way more pve stuff to do than pvp stuff for the legendary and still pvper aren’t the one complaining about it.

Don’t let the campers get to you. Give it a shot, wait at the entrance for a group to travel with and if it doesn’t work, stay cool and come back later.

anyone else think that creating a jumping puzzle where you can pvp is a kitten good Idea, I definitely do. there is so much content in this game that caters to pve, WvW has 2 different maps (1 being duplicated 3 times) that its nice to create this different environment that is so unsafe and has no rules.

if you are going to go into the EB jumping puzzle go in and enjoy the prospect of not knowing who;‘s going to jump out unexpectantly and equip utilities and traits that will help. see it as a challenge but most importantly if you can’t get enjoyment out of it I’d probably just stay out of there.

I think removing the possibility to mesmer portal up to the end would solve a lot of problems.
Now those that camp the arena near the end have a near endless supply of players to camp. And those that are killed are back within no time with some mesmer portal help. So , even fighting back and pulling off some enemies is not going to help, they are back in one minute.
It would be ‘fair’ if everybody actually had to do the JP rather than cheese past it.

I don’t have a problem with camping, more with the near impossibility to fight against it.

Joined the puzzle today, killed 4 people from 1 server, then 3 people from the other server came and chased me away. Fun was had. Don’t remove the puzzzle from wvw, remove the dumb badge requirement from the legendary so carebears stop complaining.

I’m not sure where this would be correctly posted but I was told here, so here’s my question, why give us mystic fountains when we can’t pick up a torch with it on? ~ 3 people in my party doing jump puzzle, 10 invaders, all camping at the start of it. I finally did the puzzle in the dark, (after dying 2 times because of people camping) and the stealth runs off as I’m in the round room, make it up to the top, on my way to the next fountain and guess what, invaders camping the door way with aoe so I can’t leave the room so I died. I’m not a “bad” player, but strength in numbers, why make fighting in the jump puzzle? there are GUILDS that camp the puzzle so only those invaders can get it, and that’s not fair. you can’t expect 20 people from a single guild to go do a puzzle just so one member can get the chest. ~Why do I want the chest? because I need badges of honor and I don’t really like doing WvW/killing people, I’m a PvE person, not PvP, why not make it fair for us PvE’ers to get jumping puzzles?

While I agree that it is not very honorable camping the arena with your guild while porting your whole server up, if you are a pve player GTFO of WvW and stop clogging up the queues.

The JP in EB was specifically designed so that people could prevent other servers from getting any further. If you do not like that or PvP in general I repeat gtfo of WvW and stop clogging up the queues.

The PvP & trap elements are great, but sieging is a joke. That’s just my opinion.

Dear Anet,

There are many jumping puzzles throughout the realm of Tyria. Sadly, only four of them allow PvP while doing them. I am really really really upset about this. Why don’t they all allow PvP? I am completely sick of jumping around like Mario and Luigi, trying to get my achievements and treasure and not being able to bump the guy next to me off the ledge, to his/her dooooom. I also wouldn’t mine Scorpion Hook’ing some kitteny kitten right off a pedestal so that I can have a face-to-face “conversation”. It burns my hiney to see that guy all the way at the end by that nice shiny chest when I don’t have a clue how to get there myself.

I can’t believe you would put PvE jumping puzzles in PvE areas. The nerve…

I’m never buying another thing from the gem store. Like, AT ALL!!11!111!11one!

Mesmer nerfs in the JP are not necessary, assuming the people your going in with are good and not pug trash. Still amused by the fact that people are going to continue to post in this thread about more regulation for open world pvp. I just hope that devs have somewhat of a carebear filter.

I would much rather have those unskilled players following commanders and being productive, while wasting a slot. Then have those same unskilled players in a JP, FEEDING badges to the enemy and crying about the JP, being unproductive, AND wasting a slot and potential manpower from the friends they will drag into WvW to try and retake the JP.

The whole idea of WvW is to work together for the benefit of the server. The JP only benefits yourself as only you get the chest to get yourself the badges you should have got from killing other players. The JP does not belong there, it clogs up the short, bugged queues. – Thats just my 2 cents worth.

I guess we just have to learn to play the game with these things and get over it until it’s fixed.

Not to be rude, but I hope this encourages jumping puzzle people not to waste the few valuable player slots on a nigh-useless jumping puzzle while the rest of your world is duking it out above ground in true battle, contributing to the far more valuable wvw-induced bonuses which are server-wide and last the entire week.

I think getting killed at the entrance to the jp is your first clue that your world does not have nearly enough map control, and perhaps contributing to the war effort is more valuable than being farmed in a jumping puzzle.

I also think having the map clogged with people who have no intent to pvp is detrimental and damaging to a server’s ability to strike effectively in wvw.

While many assume ‘oh five people in the jp doesn’t make a difference..’ You couldn’t be more wrong. Five people can really do more than you think in wvw.

if the devs decide to keep the jumping puzzles in wvw, under no circumstances should they be made a non-pvp zone. And I think the badges should stay in the chest. This gives a chance for the real fighters on the server to still farm some badges during periods of complete map control.

Unless…of course… the jumping puzzle was made a capturable objective with a point reward…that would change my mind very quickly =]

And it perhaps would be the ideal compromising solution between the wvw pro-jp people and the wvw jp-haters like myself, while forcing the pro-jp people to defend said objective or lose their precious jp.

Coming from someone that does wvw quite a bit…

When I see people complaining about the other servers camping the JP, my thought is “good, they are wasting 20+ players on a pointless JP”. That’s a 20 player advantage we have on the battlefied, and we’re not about to give that up for the sake of devoting 20 people to clearing them out. Let them waste time camping, while we cap their towers.

This would all be fixed by removing the badges from the chest. Don’t want to have to wvw to get your legendary? Well, I don’t want to have to farm/grind pve to get all the materials and gold for a precursor. You can get every thing you want without wvw when we can get everything we want without pve.

And as for the people doing the camping…thank you for wasting your server’s queue slots on a pointless activity. I still think it’s a rather pathetic thing to do (fish in a barrel, ya’ know), but your efforts in making our fight easier are much appreciated.

im more upset that if i knock someone off the edge and they die that i dont get credit for the kill. if they take fall damage and die as a result of me knocking them off the edge i should get credit and loot.

i knocked some invaders off the edges about 3 or 4 times last night. unstealth + updraft and they fall and die. i get no credit for it.

such a bummer.

There’s only 2 problems I have with the JP:
1. The folks in there count towards the player cap of the map.
2. It attracts PvE’ers that don’t even like doing any WvW to get their easy badges.

No.2 is actually more the issue that PvE purists are forced to get badges of honor for their legendary gift, I’d much prefer to give them another way to acquire them. But for PvP / WvW purists it’s even worse because the majority of things needed for the legendary forces them to de PvE.
So basically PvE’ers only need to acquire 1 thing in a game mode they don’t like but WvW’ers need to acquire ALL BUT 1 thing in a game mode they don’t like.
Changing that for PvE players would also require changing the rest of the legendary stuffs for WvW’ers to keep things fair.

Note that I don’t have a problem with the JP’s design or that it’s connected to WvW. It caters to smaller scale battles in an open’ish environment with a lot of terrain to use to your advantage, and of course to camping/ganking style that still a lot of players apparently like judging from my mmo experience.
I only prefer to have the JP count as separate maps so the whining of WvW’ers stops that JP campers and PvE’ers are taking up their guilds slots.

I’ve seen that done a few times already and before i get knocked off i can use stability so i dont fall, well win some lose some anyway, not all the time. But i dont want to waste a second on trying to make a hit before knocking them off and lose that chance. If i fall to my death as a result of someones action then they should get the credit.

The EB JP is one of the funnest things to do in this game. I would not make anymore changes to the inside of the JP. In my opinion the removal of siege deployment has increased the quality of the PvP in the JP. The challenge of fighting your way to the end is a blast.

I am not even talking about camping. Some individual players will choose to not fight but I have seen plenty engage at first site. In the past I let others go unmolested and after they grabbed the chest they jumped back down to try and kill me. Be nice to the other servers at your own risk.

Please remove JPs from all WvW maps.

The population cap per map has already been reduced significantly lately, and we don’t want pure JPers in WvW maps without any effort to fight for their server to clog the queue up.

Ain’t no WvW-ers got time to wait for hours to enter and fight in WvW while some pure JP-ers are trying to finish their JP….
