Far better to cap WvW weapon stats at the exotic level.
Yes, I know this will upset all those hardcore players who’ve picked up ascended and legendary weapons and are now very attached to those extra stats. But the benefits of more competitive enemies and therefore more exciting combats are worth it.
^ that’s like asking wvw to be similar to spvp whereby you limit the skills/gear/food etc. and making it nearer to a balanced game.
If that be the case, might as well revamp ascended weapons to cap at exo stats w/ infusions. And hopefully ascended trinkets back to exo level w/ infusions.

It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!
I don’t mind capping my weapon stats at exotics, as long as Anet also cap levels at 2, and randomly “phase” people out of combat in WvW as soon as combat starts so that there is the EXACT numbers of players in the fight, and only phase in the other amount once the battle is over and everyone on the winning side has restarted their HP/skills. Also to make things absolutely fair there will will be no terrain, just a flat even out space, traits will be taken away and everyone will have just generic roles (Melee DPS, Range DPS, Tank, Healerish, Buffer). Once one of them prove to be too “superior” we’ll just remove that option from the players, until only the lowest, most dumb down class is left, when that proves too difficult, Anet should all skills and replace it with one button that does everything for you. Also they should start banning the use of VOIP cause that’s the truely OP tool that no one should take advantage of, it’s unfair to allow a few people PAY for an external service to get a unfair advantage. Pay to Win anyone?
Or we could just add a linear progression in WvW so people can attain Ascended gear playing WvW only, albiet still getting the gear slower than if they wanted to spend extra time to do PvE, but not rely completely on chance. Give us the option to spend WXP to buy Ascended gear or something.

Arenanet gave PvE’ers 2-3k free badges of honor in their achievement chests, badges they are still sitting on with absolutely no real purpose because they dont care about WvW.
Making Ascended available for Badges would just mean they spend their otherwise worthless badges on a “free” weapon. (who do you think has an easier time getting 20g?)
Arenanet essentially killed badges as a currency for anything valueable when they handed em out like this.

This would mean you would have to take 250 Towers or Keeps in order to get the Seals to purchase the Ascended weapons

After capturing 250 towers and keeps you should pretty much have the stuff to make an ascended weapon already…

Lies. I did the same thing, and burned through a whole stack of ori ingots. Just because some (like me and you) saved up a crapton doesn’t mean most people, or anyone who is newish to the game will have that.
You just don’t get 750 oricalcum ores from salvaging.
I’d just be happy if they gave us ascended mats in WXP level up chests, specifically dragonite. It’s silly that we only get 4-5 dragonite for taking bay or hills, when ppl can zerg temples over and over for 30 dragonite a pop.
I think 750 badges of honour and 20gp would be reasonable. That would take a while to accumulate and far exceed the 2 weeks you can supposedly get them in PVE.

Nah 750 would be to low, BoH have been thrown out i had over 4,00 at one point.

If you are on a highly populated server and play 6 hours of wvw a day in an organised guild group, then you might get 250 badges a day. That isn’t ‘casual’.
Bear in mind on the lower tiers that there just isn’t those large scale fights that often, and camp capping only gives you 0,1 or (rarely these days) 2, and they spend a lot more time killing 5 or 10 enemies and capping camps and towers with 10 people instead of running around in a zerg or 50-80. For them the reality is 250 badges can take a week or more of quite a lot of wvw play, so setting it at 4k would make it a 16 week slog for them 9or even longer).
It would be much better all round if ascended everything could be a rare drop from killing players in wvw, or camp boss, or tower or keep bosses. That way all levels of server would have a chance at the drop instead of some arbitrary number of badges which just encourages people to zerg and move to the high wvw population servers to get the maximum badges.
And yes, we still need ascended back pieces!
