Then to make it absolutely fair, give everyone the same weapons, armour, skills and stats.

I’m completely for that. I am not a fan of ascended weapons.

The golem price is only was only last drop to much.
The current WvW-golem rushes where already on the horizon much earlier:

Further boosted by AC damage reduction on golems as on other siege.
But opposing to golems other siege are: immoveable, max 5 per local area and have a user that take full damage.

And ballistas are nearly nowhere usable for defense (only exception is the nord-east BL tower).

I still like Skill-Laag Mastery next most:

Lvl 1 your 1 skills becomes a priorisation in beeing executed by the server
Lvl 2 your 1-2 skills becomes a priorisation in beeing executed by the server

Lvl 10 your 1-10 skills becomes a priorisation in beeing executed by the server
Lvl 11 your 1 skil has a higher prio than those with 1-10

Lvl 21 your 1 skil has a higher prio than those with 1-20

Maybe make golems burn supply like fuel. Drains 1 supply from its driver every 3 minutes. Dunno if it would have the desired effect or not. Would suck if your golem zerg wasn’t organized and ran outta gas leaving a dozen golems stuck just short of an enemy keep. Couple of good ideas listed in this thread, I hope they find a good way to limit the number of golem zergs without killing the strategy all together.

I think one of the biggest things which made golems VERY cheap for a short time (and its still coming from that) is when a bunch of people got a lot of BoH from the retroactive achievement chests. I got way more than you’d even need for a Gift of Battle, so I saw people burning them on golems and selling as a way to make some $$ off their excess badges (especially if they didn’t WvW).

All in all though, Ive found golem rushes are negated almost entirely by one thing: scouts. And I just don’t mean sentries at keeps, I mean scouts that roam the BL’s (sniping yaks, harassing etc). Golems cant be immediately moved anywhere. Even if they portal train a good group of scouts should be able to spot that.

The price is mainly cheap for alphas, which aren’t as big of an issue. However, if your enemy rushes you, even with 20 omegas, it can be stopped (I’ve seen it done numerous times).

May as well remove the rams too, and the towers and keeps.

In fact, flatten it all out, remove the wildlife and trees and mow the grass. Then to make it absolutely fair, give everyone the same weapons, armour, skills and stats.

how to build 8 golems in one minute, in 5 easy steps:

1. get 40 people together, each of them with 10 supply. (400 supply total)
2. portal to a borderland map, and build 4 golems.
3. stack on Commander Siegerazer and wait for 1 minute countdown.
4. after countdown, all stacked players get 10 supply (400 supply total)
5. build 4 more golems

if you have 2 commanders in your home citadel, you can do this twice (be careful not to start both countdowns at once).

if your 40 players don’t have supply to start with, detour to some other borderland first, and start Siegerazer there to get everyone filled up. the portal back to your ‘target’ map and proceed to step 2.

I don’t think you’re kidding.

I actually thought there was one I saw for a split second on Hughs stream the other day – “Forum Mastery”, at 5 pips you can write forum posts that convey absolutely nothing but somehow still appear to be addressing players concerns

if you had just stopped there I’m sure a lot of people would have been in agreement. One map like that would solve a lot of problems and gripes with WvW.
