Meta Shift - Deadeye zerg
- no one would respect you
- no one would enjoy it
- you would try to run as soon as anyone got close to you
- after the first time, someone would use Wall of Reflection on you
A heretic’s voice in your head
A stargazer, releaser
So their commander is dead, and then it’s 30 thieves vs a well rounded zerg. What do you think happens then? Also you can’t exactly tell the enemy zerg “please wait 10 seconds, malice needs to charge”.
I would imagine single Wall of Reflection would get whole Deadeye zerg kill themselves.
I did some research and discovered an upcoming meta for WvW. With the Deadeye skills, a full zerg can pin snipe effectively, and wipe out enemies from a distance. What you have is 30 Berzerker Deadeyes and some boon strippers/stun lockers on voice comms. After your Commander marks the target, you boon strip and stun lock first, then everyone kneels and fires. The target enemy dies instantly. Between shots, your stealth squad will cast Shadow Refuge and hide your entire zerg. 10 players can hide up to 50! While in stealth, you move to prepare for the next spike.
This spike strategy was very popular in GW1 PvP. And thanks to Deadeye, it will make a come back.
This is totally ridiculous.
The logic of this is silly.
Deadeye may be fun, but whats the difference of 30 rangers sniping the commander, 30 warriors, 30 revs smacking the hammer down for 200K+ damage, etc and so on? Or 30 of any combination of ranged classes targetting a single player.
If this was effective, it would have been meta 5 years ago.

with the exception of the last item, whats the diference from the curernt AoE condi meta?
You’re just going to get destroyed even with such a setup.
f1 cant be reflected, so take mug and have everyone push f1 to pin snipe and boon strip without kneeling. take the refresh on kill trait. you prolly only need 20 deadeyes to down someone instantly, so the rest of the group can be a scourge turtle or something.
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
New meta will be warrior running into blob and open elite then scourge will follow in to do their kitten. Then, the rest just smash their cc follow by dps and everyone rip.

I wonder about something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1vWK2yf9Y0
applied to GW2.
- Lines of kneeled Deadeyes with action cam to avoid targeting problem, just shoot strait.
- Use waves of rile skill #2. The pierce + immob to remove stab stacks from the enemies.
- Use roll for initiative + withdraw to keep the lines while maintaining distance.
- Add some mesmers for quickness & feedback protection bubbles.
- Maybe some mesmer/thief (for stealth) & spellbreaker bombers.
=) hehe shields and wall of reflect and auro sand squal solution.

You don’t even need anyone else, since you can all focus single targets down and gain stealth afterwards too. If you had 15 deadeyes, you could perma stealth and kill one by one without attacking at all, with just the F1.
Something like this with the elite being Shadow Meld and the other utility skill being a venom.
Deadeye traits would be Revealed Malice, Unforgiving for a chained CC that lasts forever and Be Quick or Be Killed so when you F1 the next target, you have the additional Power for Mug.
As that is, with just 15 deadeyes pressing F1, they will do 22155 direct damage on a target with 2600 armor and 30 stacks of Poison for 20s, which is 4897.5 per second, not counting any venom effects. You’d have to be pretty unlucky for them to live through that and the F1 gives you stealth and refreshes instantly if you kill. This could be stealth trapper all over again. Then they could actually use rifle skills.
Takes serious co-ordination, but it’s a massive troll.

Well if you had 15 vanilla mesmers you would probably do 50,000+ instant direct damage on a target by pushing 1 skill button. Pretty hard to survive that. And they can do while running. And they would kill the 4 guys around the target too. And they can repeat it 1 second later if the first hit wasnt effective (got to kill the ressers).
Tell me why exactly the deadeyes F1 should sound threatening compared to this?

1500 range adds a lot to it. As well as the fact it can be chained indefinitely.
Not saying it’s a great strategy, but it’s certainly not one to ignore the possibility of.

This isn’t true, the reflected shot would deal what the base damage without mods would do as far as I remember from the old reflect damage calculations.
When you reflect a projectile your precision, ferocity and damage mods are taken into account not the aggressors. Your power also makes 0 impact on the damage of the projectile which I believe is based on the aggressors power level.
Since the crazy high spike damage people have been showcasing in the beta comes from high power but mostly insanely high damage mods (6 malice gives 130% damage not 15×6 =90%) rather than just high base damage. This means when you reflect it, if you’re full zerk it’ll do maybe 5-7k tops and if you’re a zerg guard probably 1-4K.
I do agree that the concept of the OP is rediculous though, you’re more likely to see a group of 5 stealth camping and sniping the pin either just before an engage or after first push if we aren’t in a pirateshit meta.

Range doesnt add much when the group can permastealth and portals could be chained to move it anywhere on the map in 5 seconds.
Fact remains that with imagined coordination, classes/theoretical groups have been this strong and stronger for 5 years.
i remembered this strat once from another game,
t’was a GvG tournament with a cash prize on RO
the Hunters are hidden then few tanks lure enemy on their range then boom
this i only one scenario, you’ll learn to counter it eventually
