To those predicting that no-one will run on the DBL, I’ve been running with a squad of around 40 on the DBL for a while now.
OTOH the changes to the wall around the rampart lord are utterly ridiculous and give the defending team an unfair advantage.
I will give them credit for opening up two more stairways to the lord. I had been part of many a Mexican standoff up there both attacking and defending. While those were fun, it often decayed into an arrow cart pirate ship battle.
I’m not really opposed to defenders having an advantage.
Had a blast on the DBL last night. Ran into everything from solo roamers, havocs, and warbands. Have to shout out to YB, saw a guild group run a rather tight formation on some of the stairs that did a number on our Pugs even after we had routed another of theirs in open field. The chance to get knocked off and killed from the heights made the fight all the more fun since had to watch what your back was up against. Was also nice since when running havoc we were able to escape some warbands by breaking up and weaving in and out of the crevices till we lost them. Different tactics work differently in the varying areas of the map which makes it fun.

There really SHOULD be an advantage for defenders on the home map, however minimal. Keeps shouldn’t be a cakewalk.
Yea, but that everyone goes to EB could also mean, that this is the map-type and the playstyle the “average” wvw player enjoys the most and the majority of the players may want to play it. Everyone likes different things. But we cannot expect arenanet to adapt to our personal wishes if they do not represent the wishes of the majority of players.
This always confused me, if EBG is the most popular map/style, why is it 1 EBG map and 3 Borderland maps ? Seems so backward.
Always thought it would be better with 3 EBG maps, and a single Borderland map that is actual 3 ways, but gives a fairly easy defensible home area, and some stuff inbetween “border areas” to fight for.

1. How many times does it need to be said the players voted for it, more than 75% who voted.
2. Like I said earlier I ran with a squad of at least 40 yesterday on the DBL for the majority of our guild raid and no-one complained.
3. If you don’t like it don’t go there we have choices now.

I tried. I really did. I’ve gone to the DBL the past couple days. But I just can’t take it.
Its still way too convoluted. I can barely get out of the SE section without getting aggravated.
Half the time I can’t even tell what I’m looking at. Everything’s the same color. I can’t find the walls or gates to the structures. Is that a cliff or a wall? EBG and ABL have nice stone walls, contrasted with green grass or snow. You can tell where the tower or keep is. You can distinguish it from the ground. DBL I came upon a wall that had been knocked down and I was like, what is that? Walked right through it and wow, I’m in a tower. Wouldn’t have realized it if I hadn’t seen the portal.
The entire thing needs to be razed. I’m going back to my original thought. A giant bulldozer needs to raze the entire thing. Take the hilltops and raze them into the canyons. Take the deathly drops and make them disappear. Even in the towers.
The verticality needs to go. Twice in half an hour today I was fighting someone, dodged and fell to my death. Once was inside a tower!

A lot of the time it’s more fun playing the forums than it is playing the game.
