The question is, can they be filled? The new maps have the potential of splitting the blob a bit, which has been complained about and requested for ages.

Filling them is the next hurdle. They are easy on the eyes graphically, but if not filled they’ll become a burden hardly worth many WvW’ers time.

The jolt of a culture change passes after some time. We can critique them a bit more objectively when their potential is reached to some degree. Let’s be patient and hope we didn’t get 3 large, winding pathed maps dropped onto populations too small to utilize and appreciate them.

Otherwise EotM-style Battlegroup matching may be imminent, coming to a GW2 near you…

Even when they are filled almost nobody leaves their corner unless they are going PvD. The map is too big, too complex and makes getting reinforcements/fight resets annoying. New players are almost immediately turned off when they spend 10 minutes trying to get into the fight… very EotM where players just skulk around when a commander is far away.

The map size is NOT the problem of this new WvW.

Wake the f up people, they changed loads of mechanics, not just the bloody look of a map.

And btw, i have seen the new map filled, quite a lot of times now and guess what: empty or full it changes nothing; new WvW is awful. That is because you don’t need to see the new map “filled, before judge it properly”.

If a footbal match is going to be played with kitten rules in a stadium that is not well designed for it, you don’t need to “wait for the stadium to be filled with people, before you can judge that match”.
That game will be played with silly rules in a bad enviroment: this is what matters. Period.

I’ve seen the map filled twice, on two resets. The problem is that you wouldn’t really know the difference from when it isn’t filled. If you’ve played on reset, you probably have too, but just didn’t know drivers on the other servers to ask if they were actually on map or not.

I’ve seen it filled in T1 and know T2 had at least one filled (can’t play two accounts at same time >.< ), but none were filled consistently. Just for several hours like you said on reset night, and after that the remnant flocks back over to EB. What I saw while filled were groups still attempting to follow a single tag for the most part. There were a few small roaming groups tagging here and there too but that was about it. A few large clashes between zergs which lead me to think that the other servers were still somewhat single pin zerging on their side of the fence as well.

That mindset is not easy to break, and it’s been fostered for so long that it’s a staple for many WvW’ers in general. Without more guilds committed to running their own separate raids more frequently I doubt this map can survive the test of time against the tried-and-true hive.

if people are zerging it’s maybe because it’s the most efficient ?
If you have 3/4 people defending some keep, you can’t just take it with 10+ group… Or this will take some hours… Because first of all you have to drain all the sups with multiple attack…. Treb, cata, ram, etc… Then people just regroup to KT…
I have defend palace at 4 people against group going up to 15+ without any problem… Do you think that you can have multiple 30+ group on the same map ?

This is incorrect, some people have some foresight and can see some of the issues. If it’s filled and the number’s have the same cap as Alpine then it is to big. Regardless of how many people are in the new map it’s far to “busy”. By that I mean it’s over complicated, it’s to vertical in many places, you need a Zerg just to scout a keep for defense, all the effects make it laggy without people on it, and finally if you manage to get close to a keep it’s a maze of meaningless annoyance for both the Attackers and Defenders.

It’s like asking for some pie because it’s really good pie, only to have someone add ice cream which is fine but then they add Pizza, Peanut butter, pickles, eggs, salmon, hamburger, hotdog, Stew, Chili, french fries, dog food, and finally the kitchen sink all ontop of your pie that is now just a mess of to much crap and inedible.

We just wanted some Pie with maybe a scoop of Ice Cream.
