forgive me if i’m not impressed by a guild made up of kids who run the FOTM gimmick builds and run around thinking they’re the gods of the game. So you can run a D/D ele that a 5 year old can learn in about 15 minutes?? congrats?? you want recognition or props learn to actually put together a build for a difficult class like ranger or necro. Necro is actually pretty strong for zerg busting, much like shatter mesmer. I tried to watch the vid, but honestly d/d is boring as hell to watch.

This is what I figured. You should note I have played elementalist from the start and haven’t just switched recently.

That’s like me saying because I have run Thief since the beginning it makes my D/D build not FOTM. But unlike you instead of staying with D/D thief I’ve changed to my own S/D, P/P build instead of switching to the FOTM build.

Just because they have rangers in their party 1. does not mean they are good 2. does not mean that they know how to play a ranger. and 3. if you have ANY experience fighting against [OG] you will know what i’m talking about when I say that they PRIMARILY run standard meta builds you can find simply by googling “GW2 Ele/thief/warrior build”.

Yup, necro is a really solid group addition. Ranger… I just don’t know.

And they didn’t just have one ranger, but two in one of the clips. :P

Bunzy, you complain a lot about downed state but in this movie you are saved by downed state mechanics a few times. Having a thief around really helps your team manage downed state and in some cases it can be an advantage for small groups since you have better communication and synergy to get people up.

There are things that definitely need fixing but the overall system is good.

Being so anti fotm that you’d use terrible weapon sets isn’t well thought out. You do what is best for the situation even if that means being fotm. If it doesn’t fit your playstyle that’s one thing, but switching just to say “i’m not fotm” is idiotic.

Watched the video for a couple minutes, come back to me when you start using combo fields. In the mean time the video’s good for showing the minor difference in the build’s potential in the hands of a skilled player and someone who just flails on the keys.

I’m not advocating running around with bad builds. I’m advocating running builds that are effective, somewhat unique, and require more than a google search to put together, something like a little bit of thought and testing. Just tired of seeing the same old crap post after post video after of video of people who run standard god mode builds that anyone and/or their dog can and do run rather than actually trying to learn a class. All i’m saying is post me a video of you running around owning with, say a staff, or dagger/ focus or something and i’ll be impressed (limited experience with an ele so i just threw out random weapons).

I had to watch the video because of your guild name, hilarious! I enjoyed the video for the most part. Only thing I didn’t like was the black box. But good job playing Ele!

A glass cannon 100B warrior can not sustain in these types of fights where you are outnumbered.

So much clueless hate here. I doubt any of you have any idea what build the people in OG are actually running. There’s a lot more to a build than your weapons. Also, if you would actually watch the video before complaining, you would notice group comps such as ele, thief, ranger, ranger, engi. Is that an overpowered fotm group?

I play a D/D ele, and I have since it was considered an underpowered novelty. I am not going to stop playing the way I enjoy more than anything else in this game just because popular opinion has shifted and now it’s considered strong. If you think it’s so easy to succeed on a D/D ele, give it a try some time. I guarantee I’ll destroy you like every other person who figured ele was an easy to play win machine. Oh, and you have no idea what my build is, either.

It was an enjoyable video. You need to get better at picking up your bags tho Bunzy. :p

Fighting greater numbers with success that’s fun in any PvP game, I do not understand the hate on this thread. I have pug’ed with OG, they are fearless and solid players.

Personally, I like to see more small roaming groups in WvWvW. Zerging ftr… yawn

And no, I do not use a hammer on screws. But somewhere along the line, while everyone else was using a screw driver, someone else sat down and thought up a drill.

Anyway, I downvoted, and since you asked that people tell you why; The music was “WTF,” the black box was terrible, the actual playing was…just boring. I’m not sure if it’s just you, or the build, but it was so boring. It seems like it’s just “cast everything the second they’re off cooldown.” Like random burning speeds just thrown out the second they’re off cooldown, not even in front of your ranged teammates for combo fields. The one time you encountered another D/D ele in the video, (that I saw) was near the end of the video, and she almost destroyed you. Also, auto-cast on auto-attack? That’s a terrible idea. You should take it off, because in certain situations you don’t need to be wasting time accidentally double-casting auto-attack. I feel much more precise without it, since I’m in control of every single motion I make.

But that’s just my personal opinion, and criticism. I’m not really an Ele expert, so whatever.

D/D ele doesn’t do kitten in real fights. Real fights are all about guardians, warriors and mesmers.

way to take a concept point and make it literal. as I admitted earlier I tried the D/D ele build. as well as D/D thief build. Theres just no fun in exploiting the most powerful setups in the game to run around feeling invincible. I use exploiting not in the literal meaning of a game exploit just to head off that process of thought. And I am not trying to troll. I am simply asking people to step away from main page guru builds that everyone plays, because if and when they get nerfed due to the QQ’ers (note I havent complained about them once) you will be left sobbing over your lost godmode, while everyone else in the game who spent time learning their class rather than a 5 minute internet search will be in a much better position. Even Drez’s post in the ele forum shows that I am not alone in this point of view, as people are abandoning the D/D ele because any brainless scrub can run it! it’s not that hard, to quote the OP in another thread “I just switch to water and heal up full”.

I’m just asking you to think outside the box. and if you dont want to do that, dont try to impress everyone with videos of you running a cookie cutter build, because it’s nothing to be proud of.

D/D ele doesn’t do kitten in real fights. Real fights are all about guardians, warriors and mesmers.

Hrm, they bring control and healing and decent splash damage. Thieves really help with stomps and revives and, of course, damage. Mesmers are extremely helpful to a small group with their damage and utility. They also force the enemy to cycle through more targets which is very helpful for a small group. Guardians can be excellent for group support (boons, retaliation, stability), control, and damage.

These are the top 4 at the moment, IMO.

Kinda wish you guys had more roaming instead of fighting around a supply camp with too many up-levels. When I think of [OG], I definitely don’t think of supply camp defending haha.

I know this probably was a quickly put together kinda thing but staying around the same place for over half the video ain’t too entertaining. I think I was the one who told Karlesi/Sol to run with you guys more, that guy needs to put out a video too!

Maybe you can make it to other Fight Clubs Tzenjin or that other guy said they are going to host later on.

Yer this was just done in one night, My new plan is too record over a week and then put the best fights in from there. I think it will make for a much more exciting video. Alot people don’t think we take supply camps or defend them but we actually do our little bit to help the server as well (occasionally) it also draws enemies towards you once you start flipping camps. The easiest fights are the ones that come to you and you don’t have to go looking for them. Trust me we are encouraging karlesi to put out a video :P he is by far the best ranger I have ever played with.

There are things that definitely need fixing but the overall system is good.

That is the reason why we added a thief to the group, to deal with the downed state and they are doing a really great job at helping our team. We use them to stomp/res people up as their main purpose.

The video was ok, though it might be a better idea if you just switch the chat to combat log or something else, so you don’t need that huge black square covering the chat, it kinda pulls down the “enjoyment” of watching.

Let’s also be honest here, there are only two professions in the game that has a somewhat more steep-ish learning curve than others, and that is Elementalist and Engineer. Simply because of all the buttons you got to learn to keep track of. Every other profession, to me at least, was fairly straight forwards to learn and get my grips with (not saying “easy to master” however). Still, none of the professions are seriously all that more easier or harder to play than others. I often get the feeling that a huge number of players saying x profession is oh-so-easy to play, has not even tried it themselves.

In my experience, every “OP build” has a counter in another build. There is no universal iWin build for any profession that will always land you the kills. It’s more that a build that is very effective against, say glass cannons, is going to be very effective in a large amount of situations, since there is a huge number of glass players running around.

The music is a mix it will often tend to change randomly, The reason why the black box was there was because we were using party chat and there was certain things in there that were not for the public eye. Also when fighting outnumbered you can’t wait to your abilities to be making combo fields, you need to use them when they are most effective. It may look like I am throwing abilities at random but each one is actually calculated, I use burning speed as a gap closer and escape tool when RTL is on cooldown. If you see me using it away from the enemy it means I am trying to gain distance to get my heals up again.

Looks very similar to mine. i use the torch or dagger offhand and I only run one power trait and only sometimes. And I have no need to test your skill level because i frankly dont care how good you are and i dont need to inflate my digital ego.

in all seriousness though props on figuring out a solid build on your own. also, try the greatsword as a second weapon i’ve found it quite useful even though it lacks a little in conditions, it can be great for escaping a zerg rush.

I would never use a greatsword until they buff the damage and I wouldn’t take a weapon to escape zergs isn’t my thing I’d feel like I’m letting the team down. I use the torch in SPvP, can’t get that stat’s I get in WvW which makes the Horn better + it helps the team with buffs.

One last thing please next time don’t get all raged up over a video, just seems stupid…. You don’t know us and we don’t know you….
