It’s been a fantastic week for w3 this week. I’ve really been enjoying the fights, and things are taking more turns than a race driver in a mental home. A big thank you to both piken and AR as (apart from the occasional invulnerable exploiter, although that goes for all 3 servers, I’m sure) all fights seem to have been fair and honourable. All sides are fighting with every tactic known to man, I swear! There’s always something going on. My repair bills are reaching a record high this week… But it’s oh so worth it.

Piken, a major commendation to you guys for the organisation and skill of your wvw guilds, you guys seem highly coordinated and work together really well.

On which parallel dimension are you playing wvwvw? We’ve probably had much more focus on piken than AR! The reason for being in last is rarely to never because the other servers are teaming up against you! Also, we’re now in 3rd… Is that because piken and AR hae teamed up?

What I mean to say is… No.

Ahh that explains everything. There was this one time, I saw a new commander on our server get his group wiped through what I thought was a questionable decision at the time, but now the reason is clear! He must have been a spy commander from another server out to sabotage the pug group he was leading.

I’m honestly confused as to why some of you play multipalyer games. You don’t respect the game or the other people who play it.

You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to realise that every week there are new faces, and given the Petri dish and how internet “culture” has “evolved”, it stands to reason that a few of you maleficents would try to subvert the otherwise wholesome past time of trying to stick an axe in a guys head.

I would normally try to appeal to peoples better nature at this point, but that never goes down too well with the group mentioned above.

The problem with on-line team games is that some of you are still not mature enough for the concept. Proof of that can be found in this thread.

Busy day today, very busy day. PS woke up though, defending bay trying to get people to go over the wall but they sat on catas and when I finally got outside I had two lovely Asura assist me in facing off against a force of ten or more, we took a number down and had a lot of fun doing it. Unfortunately while we were busy beating up long leggers, a force got in and took the lords room.

No word from the two people inside, telling us to move in… Doh!!!

ah that´s a shame I really wonder if there are still guys out there who don´t know how to configure the chat and use it properly or if they are just ignorant or something not the first time something like that happened

I’m also looking into reports that a certain guild on gandara exploited sunny hill. Worry not, I will find that thief and discover his name!

I woke up at 4 this morning thanks to one of my cats, and spent the next 2 hours capping towers burning through all my siege. Thanks to everyone who was helping me out during that time! We were mostly unopposed. I went back to bed at 6 and was happy to see we still had everything when I woke up again at 11! Keep it up Gandara!

As for celebrating Christmas, don’t be so childish, of course we do, we just do it on the 25th! I understand there are many places across Europe that celebrate it on the 24th so there will of course be some disparity over these few days!

I really did not expect us (Gandara) to be in the lead at all this week, with us moving up a bracket and fighting Piken who came down from above and who were leading up till some time ago, while we were 3rd. Now 11k score in front and rising, gonna be interesting if the tides will turn again. I expect a continuing good fight from both AR and PS, as it has been till now =)

The server with the biggest nightcrew is the winner, been like that in every match-up I’ve seen so far. And I think that won’t change in a near future.

Not True… a few weeks back we finally beat Fort Ranik with just a little under the team they were fielding for their night crew

When I went to be AR had quite a big amount taking Bay…. only 5 of us defending against 15 to 20

Gandara are taking this match up pretty seriously, where AR & Piken not so much… you guy’s got promoted and have momentum… I know you will get destroyed in the next tier on score if not battles… Riverside, Kodash, or one of the big t2 servers will be different proposition for you… Piken is in hibernation at the moment and thats a fact, even with our low numbers we are not overwhelmed, yes everyone gets effected by Xmas, but piken more so due to roleplay community and already light numbers.

So i dont know if this is the “real gandara” pushing hard for a hollow victory… I mean AR had 10 points yesterday during primetime on their xmas… which says it all really. Too bad you wont get to fight elona’s zerg though… maybe the spanish horde that ive heard alot about instead

So if Piken drop another tier, or stay in this one im more than prepared for that, when everyone’s back after xmas you will see a different piken that is for sure then hopefully we get a rematch where no team has 10 points during primetime lol very skewed 3w.

Pikens a server dominated by WvW guilds, and they’re the reason we’re so high in the tiers. So what happens when those WvW guilds take a break for christmas? We don’t perform at all like we should be If we meet again, you’ll see a very different Piken to the one you’ve fought this week.

I’m impressed with Gandara’s capability to field large numbers even due to it being christmas, and I’m not sure whether thats because you’re a very high population server, or just because you guys are pushing extra hard to get the victory this week.

And every single time I’ve been in EB this week, Piken has had the outmanned buff, even during primetime IN EB. Seriously, hurts being a medium pop server sometimes. And while we did just come from the tier above, we got destroyed by the two servers there, specifically Elona Reach, and we’ve not really been up to scratch for the previous 2 matchups, including this one. Ever since I’ve seen Elona dominating T2, its given me the impression we’re a T3 server at the minute, because when we’re at our full strength, we are in the same league if not moreso than servers such as Kodash and Riverside. We’ve beaten AR a number of times, and Fort Ranik, and since you guys have had trouble with those servers in the past, it leads me to believe we could beat Gandara as well. Baruch Bay will be an interesting fight if we do get those guys, but I believe T3 will probably Piken, Kodash and Baruch Bay. Riverside were very impressive in our matchups with them, especially on defence, but Kodash were stronger, and posed a greater offensive threat.

We already fought Riverside and lost Wamgor, and it’s not like we are really that great. Having seen [XxX] guild in action, that came down from Blacktide to Gandara (haven’t seen them this week), there really are some hardcore WvW guilds up there that we have no match against. But I do not feel that we have been fighting or pushing for a victory.

But what we will get out of this, is to learn some new tactics from our opposition that we will be able to use later, which is a really good thing.

And the reason we can amass zergs still, is because we have a few very good commanders that are good at giving directions to our otherwise pug-WvW world. A few good commanders can make all the difference in the world (vs world).

Gandara is just a reasonably heavy pop very casual server, there is not a hell of a lot of structure to our WvW but those of us that do it as our main activity are getting better. When we are on a winning streak then our numbers tend to explode as our more PVE focussed players come and join in as well. We do not have the 24/7 coverage required to be in the top tiers and I am quite happy to stay at this tier as its about the right level for us to have a good time without it becoming a second job.

I would like to face the Pikeys again on a regular week rather than christmas as I think we can learn some good stuff from them that will improve our game.

Most of the guilds I play with stay out of EB, last week I with Lloantix and Eno, pulled off a death defying four hour siege on Stonemist which saw EB pull together for a higher goal but bedtimes being what tehy are saw our numbers dwindle before the pay off :P

Borderlands is where the real action is at, like just now…. AR and PS just zerged Gandara BL together, hitting the same targets from both sides….. When AR took Garrison I decided to use myself as bait to lure PS over to AR and hope they spot one and other lol.

Interesting to hear what happened after we were evicted Let us know!

We fought almost all servers and i got to say that Brauch Bay had the most amuzing zerges of all.

I got to say im pleasntly surprised, some decent replies from gandara players, i was starting to put you into the same catergory as elona when it comes to attitude towards other servers… with all the mud flinging and crazyness.

The momentum and morale plays a big part… piken was on a winning run from t8 to t3? we had alot of momentum… now though our WvW guilds in general are less active because its Xmas, some WvW guilds are still going strong and representing Well but still probally not as much as usual. Some of our WvW guilds wont be that active again till new year etc… I know piken is a very unique and different server to others, so it makes it impossible to judge. We do also get our own fair share of people who come out when we are winning etc (which is annoying when it forms ques and then there not to be seen when they are needed when times are tough)

I think gandara vs riverside or kodash would be interesting, like it would be against the real piken, but if i was a betting man, i would still put my money on riverside and kodash… these guys are very battle hardened, their use to fighting bigger servers with more coverage, their tactics and organiastion is one of the best (it has to be) and their spirit is also very impressive… Piken beat riverside, but it took two weeks of farming them and even then it was close on score, they do not give a inch… Kodash we havent beaten but have given many good battles, they might not have the same numbers as some servers above them, but they make up with it by their superior organisation…

Those two german servers taught us things, when we fought elona last week didnt learn anything, it was just numbers, constant numbers… now i see they are destroying T2… probally because of same reason… if they had the organisation of kodash and spirit of riverside, they would probally be number 1 server in the world.

There is a big possibility, we will be fighting each other again next week, still with xmas and new years hang over… maybe Abbadon’s or Aurora glade have something to say about that…

Hard for me to take you serious if you suggest Piken as more off peak, and night time players in particular though, that is usually time im around and we got the same thing from servers below us when we beat them like Jade sea, despite them having double our pressence but poorly using their numbers in comparison.

Very hard to judge your server as a whole so far in this matchup, but you’ve been alot more impressive than Elona ever was… you guys was third, pulled it back then created a gap… even if its a tad hollow, opportunistic etc(call it whatever still counts) you have some dedication/momentum going. I just hope neither server slides out of the bracket one way or another before Piken recovers to its usual self. Gandara & Aurora glade are only servers we haven’t fought beside some of the big boys, I would like to find and fight guilds on gandara like I do against RSC & KOA on riverside and kodash respectively.

I would say the rankings are starting to even out, and these three servers are in same boat, a yo yo t3-t5 server. At full strength Piken is T3… only way for that to change is mass recruiting or server death (millers)… and from my experience T3 is where I would like to fight, but for more casualness T4 isn’t too bad either. I believe T1/T2 is just numbers(Zerg) and coverage… atleast in these brackets more room for stratergy and tactics like Kodash show.

Just have to say i doubt this very much, Piken has always had a small night crew right back from when we were a tier 9 server. We always have the outmanned buff on everytime we step anywhere at night. The reason it appears we have more is because we work together so much better at night and can move around with more ease. Take Elona last week we had 5 of us hold off 40-50 man zerg at OL keep for around 4hours, now sure Elona aren’t smart they just use numbers to take stuff so that wasn’t difficult.

Agreed, and to the one saying we outnumber them at night? lol….a couple of days ago we had to put a call out to people in Lion’s Arch just to get a breakout event started in one of the borderlands.

Same as us. To say our lead is hollow when we were fighting your forces is a little shallow. Having a lot of fun but on our christmas day (25th) both servers came at us hard and split our borderland right up the middle along with EB.

I’m having fun, it’s a tough slog but don’t try and belittle any of the effort we put in just because your forces happen to be taken a break, like ours are today. Each and every player has a role to play at any given day during match ups and to say anything we claimed yesterday was hollow was a lil silly considering you did have players on defending and capping stuff at the same time.

Most of today we’ve still had the outmanned buff on, so yup you beating us on that front again. But today we’re working together better. We’re not saying your victory is hollow at all, it’s just we’ve always been the underdog. If you choose to hit us hardest when we have the fewest players on, then that’s a smart thing to do. But as you can see from today capping stuff when we have so few to defend upsets us and we need to take our revenge later when we have more on.

lol we had outmanned on too cause AR rock was attacking Bay and Hills at the same time you were each took north/south each time and then the same happened on garrison until the map was split equally between Blue and Green

Soooooo under this set of coincidences Gandara was almost certainly outmanned which is why we had to switch borders

It’ll be back to normal for everyone on wednesday urrrr Thursday hopefully since the UK has Boxing Day tomorrow It’ll get back on track but you two are big meanies :P

I don’t really get all this random blabber to be honest.

Yes, apparently Gandara took advantage of yesterday night as Piken and Augury have taken of this night due to christmas being celebrated on two different days in Europe. There’s no question asked that Piken are the most organised server of the three. It takes no great knowledge of WvW or RvR to spot that.

But come on saying a victory is hollow is merely redundant. It has been very close score-wise right of the bat with an advantage to Piken due to a more organised reset. It is a 24/7 cycle for seven days; so it will always be about the server who can take the most points at prime-time, night, morning, afternoon and early-night – I don’t think any server are at full-strenght at this time of year either.

The fights TDA have had this week has just been amazing running alongside BdB – stealing Stonemist at the reset from Augury was the highlight for me and the great fights against the guilds from Piken – with BOON and TUP giving us the most troubles to say the least (was fun to annoy TUP in PS bl with a mobile 3 man squad :P some days ago).

Looking forward to the future fights around February when all servers and guilds gained back their full strenght.

Any victory this week is hollow for any server and not just this tier… alot of servers wont be in the same state as they were just even a week ago… or have been for the last x amount of months. It will effect some servers more than others, and piken fall into that catergory.

Im not discrediting your effort, far from it, i stated you got momentum/dedication… and to come from third to first is more impressive than anything elona showed Piken during our last matchup… that is a compliment

sorry if you take what i say wrong way… but any server getting 10 points in primetime(it shouldnt happen)… months after the rankings have started to settle down you know shows that its a hollow match up because of Xmas dsiruption.

If you want me to explain that more… 4 maps… not sure the exact cap but probally room for 400+ players… and in the time when most people would usually be online… saying 300-400+ players cant cap more than 2 supply camps which is what one individual could do…

So when primetime is more skewed than night time is, even if its for one day (eitherway) totally discredits the end result imo, and it’s nobodies fault its just the way it is and can’t wait for full strength matchups to resume with little disruption (besides anet’s mandatory pve update 3 hours after reset of course)…

interesting to see what patch will bring in Feb, but have heard some negative things about it in the grapevine… fingers crossed it fixes wall jumping and other terrain exploits atleast… if not just lol.

As for TDA look forward to fighting you on bigger scale, although small scale was fun just we had alot of non guildies following our commander at that time so wasn’t even for the most part, you guys did well being a havoc squad, then Yak tried doing it afterwards and was less succesful

Hehe, nice try for SM last night. Us 8 held your 25+ off for 3+ hours, got a little scary at times when you were all piled in the outer courtyard and someone on my side kept using all the supply to do repairs and build useless mortars. Was a very close call but i’m glad we got some of our usual folks back on the nights, now it’ll be more of a challenge for ya to night cap everything(least i hope so).

This is just ridiculous to watch both servers fighting together against Gandara.
I haven’t seen any AR vs PS activity in the last 48 hours, keep it up. Only thing you do is teaming up versus Gandara so you don’t lose that much rating.
Anyway that tactic won’t lead your servers to victory in long term, it will only make them weaker.

I’m proud of the Gandarians that stay up to try to keep the lead and even if we lose it one day, to keep our server getting the ratings these two servers try to rob from us.

Someone’s gonna come here and tell me that we did the “same thing” vs Augury Rock the other day, but those are big lies. We still kept fighting vs Piken.

Although I’m very disappointed to see EB split down the middle again and the points becoming very difficult to cap as we’re hit from both sides, I don’t mind because in some ways its making Gandara work together and the PUGs that zerg try a little harder. So this little Alliance may push us back down but it’s teaching us to work together a lil more

What was not considered so nice was the way you gained your lead during the Christmas night. Who is shamefull here ? In fact, people are outraged by your Christmas theft. I suspect it’s the same feeling on Piken.

Piken have been double teamed in alot of previous matches… especially in EB. You guys have every right to feel the way you do, but atleast your guarenteed action… and should take it as a compliment… otherwise there would be alot of RV door going on. Like i said hollow victory for whoever wins and this just adds to it.

I think it comes down to manpower, and a bit down to nightcap, Gandara have the most manpower and nightcap… PS & AR Are light in numbers, they cant spare enough manpower to pressure as many maps as Gandara been able too.

you must be doing something right to get double focussed. You guys had alot of momentum and it took drastic action to slow it down… Piken and Gandara both targeted AR the other day (10 points in primetime) the difference was Piken didnt have enough spare troops to pressure Gandara in same way as well… but Gandara could.

If PS & AR had usual numbers out… you would definately see more PS vs AR action going on… its still happening but its just not on the same scale of PS vs GD or AR vs GD

currently you guys are the threat, you put targets on your back… if you want to get promoted and survive in tier 3 you will face even bigger threats. fighting two under strength tier 4 servers, is nothing compared to fighting a tier 3 and tier 2 server.

Cruswald you say we’re shameless for taking the lead on your christmas day on the 24th but ours was the 25th when this double team began. Pot, Kettle….

I don’t mind it, I’m enjoying the badge farming that’s happening because there are small groups that can only hold certain points. Also having fun running into the same Ele on AR Borderland.

Everyone is going to get double teamed at one point in WvW but I just haven’t seen it this blatantly obvious before.

This battle is seriously the most intriguing I’ve seen so far in WvW, going back and forth night and day. 1 day AR getting pushed to non-existence, the other day Gandara, but it feels like Gandara has gotten more of a night crew here in the holidays, taking over most of the map, and then in the day being pincered in EBG, but I take this as Gandara being the populated server in the night, while Piken and AR being more organized during the day.

Regarding the shame comment, that was an answer to Vynt. As I said, we have great respect for Gandara. But people were outraged by what happened during the Christmas night. Is it right ? Well as usual, that’s a matter of perception.
That’s might be the same for Piken, I don’t know.
And by the way, we celebrate Christmas eve as well as the 25th here.

Most important thing is that Bessie was not harmed.

You’re actually doing me a favour by pushing us back down, I need sleep!!! Ever since Fort Ranik and the rise I’ve not slept… I’ve even done gaming sessions from 4pm till 9am on the weekends because the time has just got away from me.

It’s actually nice to not be double teamed for once in the last 5-6 weeks, we’ve had it so long it does wear you out. As has been mentioned these couple of weeks of Xmas nobody in any tier on any server will have a true victory due to numbers being so screwed and all over the place. I would dearly love to face you Gandarans again soon when we get back to our full strength, then we’ll show you you how we roll in the Square. So far you’ve shown a lot of promise with the “few” you have online.

I’ve been surprised by how Gandara clocks up the points. Haven’t really seen many organised Guilds, though I’m sure there are some and yet the zergs are a lot smarter than in lower Tiers.
This is perhaps because we have moved from GH along with other WvWers this week and not had to carry the battle for a change.
Numbers are low in Guild at the moment and I’ve spent two days trapped happily with family, so seeing Gandara in the lead was a real huh moment.
I believe more small WvW Guilds may be moving to Gandara (if only to let Tortun sleep)and next week will be interesting, as we should have got to grips with who is who and what comms are being used to co-ordinate the server.
Hope Piken is still with us next week, as TUP is an old home and many of us have old pals in HoB, Tainted etc. Part of the reason we came to Gandara was the welcome when we scouted and the message from Piken that prime time Guilds may not be welcomed. This means TDA/BDB/VS and probably KF have come to Gandara instead and if this is Gandara unco-ordinated, then we look forward to learning and growing together.

You will find that some of us on Piken Square agree. We have been on the receiving end of alliances and are used to being “double teamed” but that is no excuse for doing it ourselves. As a commander, with the support of a small group of like-minded players, i took the step of breaking the “official alliance” between Piken and Augury.

We wanted to send a message that Piken Square will win on its own merits, through fighting tooth and nail, not by doing back alley deals with other servers.

Gandara has fought well and if they deserve the ranking more than Piken, my server, then i salute them. Points must be earned, not bargained for.

Some on my server say i lacked “honour” by going against this alliance. I prefer to see them as lacking the will to win on their own. Piken square will not be known as the server that does deals for its victories. We will win because we are better or lose because we are worse and it will be fairly done.

Yeah, I’m pretty much tired of this high tiers, where everyone forgets what the most important thing is: Having fun, and not sacrifice your life to win. Trying to resist Piken zergs at mendon while AR is taking over Ogre is not fun to my opinion, and it’s happening all the time…

So Piken is clipping through both out and inner walls and gates on Hills at their own borderlands. Seems [INS] don’t need to spend on siege. Nice try but no cigar.

I was really hoping we were just uber paranoid (regarding the double-teaming). Thanks for your post Chrono.

I’ve had some good fights all in all and done a lot of /waving at guilds and old comrades/enemies from Warhammer.

Shame to see posts along the lines of “hey your points dont count coz xmas eve” in comparison with “hey our points count even though its xmas day and we made a deal with the other server”, but oh well and also lololol.

I don’t think any server needs to make excuses or belittle another’s achievements. It’s been a good match in spite of the odd time of year and the big PvE event. Let’s just /salute and hope for another good match up next week.

Well, we had the same debate and didn’t agree all with what was concluded with Piken. I guess things are back to normal now.

As Harm stated in the corresponding topic in the open part of our forum, its more about commanders not leading attacks against each other. So the (dis)honor is all about the guys who agreed to focus Gandara. Whoever starts a fight against “ally” (not being the one of the involved commanders) – there’s nothing bad about it. And if something is painfully lost – dont sleep on your watch lol.

Strategy wise its a good decision, since i’ve seen Gandara outnumber us badly during offpeak. Guess its the major reason for teaming up at the first place, since we climbed up to t3 being always outmanned offpeak.

And hey, if you dont care following that badge / want to rp a honorable knight not willing to cease fire with foe while having common enemy at your door / whatever else – its up to you, go kill some AR guys. And vice versa. When some Augry guys took Golanta and tried to ninjacata Klovan i took some Pikens and capped Danelon. Dont mess with the inquest thing :) Harass their camps, start a breakout – have fun. At least it made this half-asleep (Piken side at least) matchup a bit more fun. And its always nice not to be doubleteamed for a change.

At some point the “screw u doubleteaming us” posts remind me of “<class_name_here> op qq” things – its game mechanics, WvWvW is designed to be so, and the teaming up against larger threat fits the conception perfectly. As focusing 2nd scoring server by both 1st and 3rd.

And please, dont take it that serious – its a game.

So, because some people on 2 opposing servers have an understanding to focus the current number 1 spot holder in that weeks wvw, you lose all respect for the other servers?

In my opinion, that is what should happen in wvw. Be happy that ppl are giving you fights.

Yawn, I’m tired. Having tried to defend against AR and PS for hours on end. I’ll tell you we only really had 1 zerg in EBG for a long while, and it is by far not easy defending 2 sides with that. But this is still the most intense battle I’ve seen so far, and kinda sad finding out here that you guys made a little alliance. Was actually kinda relieved when we had a break and AR attacked PS.

As far as I’m aware it was only an alliance between like 2 or 3 commanders from each server that was made when they did a fractal dungeon together. I think it was started yesterday and lasted for all of about half a day, and even during that time there was quite a lot of AR and PS players attacking each other and taking each others stuff. So stop exaggerating.

Except for the majority of the week we have been in 2nd. Come those times, we don’t grovel to the enemy and beg for them not to hit us. Sure, we may concentrate on more on the number one spot, but never by forming any alliance with the other enemy. We play by our own merits, as both opposing sides are the enemy. We would never show that we as are too weak to win alone!

Gandarans, we can only take a victory from this week. We entered this match up after climbing yet another tier, now seeing heights we may never have expected, and very few of us expected to be able to hold our ground against such established wvw worlds. However! We drove at them and pushed them to such desperation that they would grovel to their enemies for an alliance against us. Hold your heads high, for this week we have already won!

Thank you! Well, in ‘real life’ while I’m not managing shops for a popular tax avoiding coffee shop brand, I both help organise and partake in LARP systems around the UK (as well as Japanese conventions, any cosplayers here? Irrelevant! Anyway!) so role playing isnt something I’m a stranger to
