Every time I log in and see one side has 3 orbs I just go log out. There’s really no point in trying. If they got 3 orbs they were clearly better than us (dur) and apparently that means they need to be demigods to boot that can properly 1v2 the other servers, even if we stopped fighting each other (we never do.)

Make them reward 50/75/100 to all stats, and 5/7.5/10% HP. What’s more, make them start in the middle KEEP rather than on a farm which is just begging for a guild of 20 people to take it in under 5 minutes and have the WvW locked down till next reset.

Orbs don’t add anything fun to WvW. Most people I imagine would prefer if they were outright removed so people could just enjoy WvW as it is, rather than WvW being “there are 3 orbs, also some sort of towers/keeps siege thing don’t know what’s going on there.”

I guarantee that there are many like me that see the 3 orbs (And the inevitable near complete map control that follows) and just prefer to not even play WvW until the reset. And if you make it last an entire week I imagine WvW interest is going to no be so high for many server groupings.

not really, if you lose your orbs instantly is because the other world as soon the match started went and get them, and no its not impossible to not get them back.

having delay in the orbs to spawn would just make the inevitable come a little later.

and no i dont log off when i see my world without orbs, we go for them and recover it.

Ive seen worlds with 3 orbs, then the three worlds with their respectively orb (or atleast one), then one with two another with one, then a total different with 1 and the other two with none.

I dont see the problem with orbs, is another incentive in the map, like SM castle is in eternal which gives 50 pts.

WvW must have incentives and living places, must have goals. Without it would be trully boring, if you just want to fight go to spvp.

the goal is your score. The orbs are simply a snowball mechanic that has no place in a realm that I will have to stay in for 2 weeks. Most people consider snowballing too hard in a 40 minute game of LoL, this is a 2 week game where within an hour many servers have their organized guilds raid both orbs.

Orbs really matter and bring pvp, score is not the goal is the final veridict of everything you do.

Thats why i like the orbs, like seeing the two worlds in our keep because they want so badly the orb, go 2v1 np.

I like the orbs a lot – nothing beats organizing a siege to get ur orb back, then rolling with it back to safety (ideally).

or hunting down orb carriers is always fun.

No they don’t, their role in WvW is to add incentive to coordinate and conquer opposing forces and strongholds. Relics in DAoC are basically identical from the ground up in this regard and there were alot of times when an opposing realm would hold all the relics from the other 2 and yet they’d still lose it on occasion.

Which brings me to my main point, what I notice right now in WvW is that a majority of the time its just a mindless zergfest Take point A, leave it un-upgraded, un-defended then move on to point B. And if point A is under attack just leave it be and take point C instead. Is it safe to assume your server is the same way? If people would bother to put some thought into implementing some strategy and thought into WvW instead of running around like a bunch of AV zerglings, it really isn’t that difficult to win.

This is one of those things where the problem isn’t with the game, it’s with the players refusing to learn the mechanics of said game.

I’m thinking something else is seriously flawed and not thought out but…

Anyway orbs are just extra fun things that give slight buffs to players and have little or no impact on WvWvW as compared to organization, skills, strategy, tactics and enemy numbers.

They do add a nice element of challenge, fun and change of pace given they are mobile objectives. If they didn’t have any benefit at all they would not be in play as much. I feel it is pretty balanced as is.

Nothing wrong with the ORB mechanic …. they are not overpowered by any means. If you are logging out because the other side has 3 ORBS you are placing far too much emphasis on them. They regularly switch hands in the games I have played in.

And I also like the concept of organizing something to take an enemy ORB. It adds something to the play IMO.

Orbs are extremely overpowered. The amount of stat difference they represent goes well above anything else in the game. It is ridiculous.

+150 to each stat and 15% HP on top of that. Its simply rediculous. My guardian has nearly 25K HP, well over 3K armor, almost 2500 power with a 50% crit chance when we get 3 orbs. Its just silly.

I don’t see why anything should give any players that kind of advantage. Make the bonuses only effect guards.

Orbs provide another objective for players who don’t want to disappear into the zerg people are putting together in /map. Perhaps changing where they spawn is a good solution. I don’t think taking them out or nerfing them is the answer.

Most of the threads you made on the League of Legends forums were overreactions just like this one.

Orbs are fine, however the problem is Orbs are too easy to get at match resets by “World that zergs first” because the keeps begin completey un-upgraded.

To resolve this it’d make a lot more sense to have the keeps start with Fortified Doors, Walls and Cannons and the keep where the Orb is placed to start with everything (I’m serious and hear me out on this).

Afterall, Orbs should be difficult to get for how useful they are, it should take HUGE investment to get one, not a one hour speed zerg and lolrunning it back with speed stacker builds and portals, that is what upsets people about WvW right now and many feel hugely frustrated when they see the side that got lucky by getting in first got the Major orb bonus before the hours up.

And for heavens sake, either disable portal until a suitable fix can be brought in or hotfix it so the orb is automatically dropped if you try using portals with it.

Maybe claiming the enemy orb should deny them their orb bonus but not grant it to the enemy. That way the strong don’t get that much stronger.

Main issue I have with the orb is that it’s starting spot is just terrible. I’d much prefer if defenders had the ability to move it to the garrison whenever they wanted to, instead of having to wait for attackers to take it, all so they can move it. Pretty silly that the defense can’t move it to a safer location unless the enemy takes it first.

apparently our orb got taken from the starting point and we got it back and placed it in our garrison…. but some random act cause our garrison altar to break and it to reset… so maybe someone should figure this out and use it o-o ijs

Our 8 man zerg defeated an 20 man organized guild because of 3 orbs.

5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant

My server has a tendency to be ahead in points even when the other side has two orbs and we have only one. I don’t think the orbs in any way make up for sheer raw skill in this game. You can still win engagements with the enemy side, it just requires you to play a tiny bit better than normal.

I play on a smaller server who regularly loses our orb pretty much instantly. The solution is to either never WvW about 5 hours in to WvW where in our enemies are long blond haired greek gods, or server transfer to a server that can hold their orbs and therefore allow fun.

Should that be the rule? Server transfer immediately off any of the smaller servers? You can say “oh just hold less forts and have fun with that!” Yeah, less forts and down 3 orbs mean their greek gods get to troll around destroying me, which means quickly nothing at all. It’s not uncommon for my server to own literally nothing at all due to orbs allowing them to have MORE players who are all WAY more powerful.

Orbs need to be nerfed. I’m a thief in full exotic crit dmg/prec/power gear, yet have upwards of 17k health and 1.2k toughness with the orbs. My crit rate is 90% without fury and crit damage is 120%, and power is almost 3k and breaks 3k with might stacks. The orbs are idiotic. While I do outgear most players at this point in time, the orbs are the breaking point. I can build full glass cannon and still be tanky. When you dagger storm in the middle of a zerg and hit players for upwards of 15,000 damage, AND make it out unscathed, you know something is wrong.

Yes, thief is strong, but the orbs are broken. Bonuses from the orbs should affect things like badge of honor drops and karma gain. Here is what should happen: the buffs from the orbs and the outmanned buff need to be switched.

Orbs are terribly broken. The buff needs to be something that doesn’t add combat effectiveness, or does so in a very minor way. The buffs are just too huge.

How they ever made it into the game with their current effects is a puzzle.

Like many others, I like that Orbs are there – but I do agree that the bonus they give should be looked at.

Far too often when we hear of 3 way ‘RvR’ ish action, people have always said that the two lesser factions will gang up on the third.
However, I’ve rarely seen this in action and it is the same here.
If one world has the orbs, the two who don’t might as well face up against each other and try to avoid the third world – simply to avoid getting steamrolled.

The theory behind is nice – but I think the actuality needs to be investigated.

However, perhaps it’ll be better with the longer matches because it gives more opportunity for organization instead of just the ‘first zerg to hit the orbs wins’.
Time will tell, although I still feel the bonuses might be a bit to high.
