Been playing wvw for 6 months atm, and it’s been imposible for me to end any of my ascended armour things (it’s like a dream, i manage with exotic gear tho), i just use up too much money on siege and upgrading structures.

I just feel disgusted to see that i can only get a small portion of the gear stats with wvw currency, none of the new gears can be found in wvw armor vendors.

Why is that? Why do I have to play pve to get builds for wvw?

Vendors in wvw need to be updated with the new gears with new stats.

Honestly, I think the badge gear is a bad bargain because you can’t salvage them so say goodbye to any expensive sigils/runes if you ever decide to change stats later (and those gem shop extractors are a joke).

You have a choice, upgrade maps or upgrade your character because if all you play is WvWvW then you’re probably not going to have the gold to do both.

A new (relatively) player shouldn’t be spending gold on upgrades. Organized guilds should handle that. In case there aren’t organized guilds stepping up to upgrade, there are likely not enough people/organization to defend no matter the upgrade status.

That said, ascended armor is ridiculously expensive for the small benefit. Exotic armor is fine for WvW.

Don’t bother with ascended armor as stat gain is minimal. Buy temple armor if you are using cheap runes, otherwise buy exotics on the trading post. Sell most exotics salvage cheaper rares with mystic salvage kit.

It’s worth making ascended weapons. Just save up your cash, vendor most stuff except for the stuff worth salvaging.

I would let people with extra cash or in big guilds upgrade the structures.

I do agree WvW’ers get the short end of the stick for gearing up at a competitive rate to those who are PvX players, or the PvE players in GW2.

Wvw is not where you make money… Yes you can be very lucky with a precursor drop but thats all. I made some money on TP. Now i have 3.2k gems and 750 golds and its enough for me. It was 1 mounth or a little more and started with 100 golds and i only checked things twice a day.
There are very rich players whos try to keep some stuffs price high(or low). Easyest way to make money to find this holes and drop a few things in it just a little cheaper. They will buy it. But if you add too much things they will just overbid you.

i am playing 2 1/2 years the game most of the time (80%) in wvw . i have spent a lot of gold to upgrades and i am continue spending gold when it is needed .i have 6 chars 80 level , most of them leveled in wvw and with tome of knowledges and i have only 1 char geared of them in full ascended and …. I am not playing him anymore the other chars are in exotic and i really do not feel the need to make them full ascended . I am playing them every day in wvw and i full enjoy them !

the main reason is that the builds are change all the time and because the real difference between ascended and exotic is only 5% in stats and the knowledge of the game overlap the lower stats against my enemies . we can take ascended accessories easier in wvw than pve .

of course i am always using food and more of the times the 60-70 level because i don’t feel that the 1% difference can make me win all the times and it don’t .

in conclusion , exotic is still exists as gear in wvw and the food ,the tactics , the builds , the class and the cooperation in map with the allies matters more than the best gear !

p.s. in wvw tournaments i won ascended accessories for my chars , the other ascended accessories i bought them with badges and laurels from wvw merchants and i had once a hammer ascended as drop from a camp at 80 wvw rank

In a recent reddit post, ascended trinkets,back and weapons + exotic armour VS Full ascended gear was a stat difference of 2.x%

You should aim to get your trinkets with laurels. That would be the first thing to do.

My point here is that they have to change how the vendor works, if you pay gold for gear and the wvw currency you should be able to salvage it or at least have some kind of mecanism to extract the runes from the gear without going into the gemstore cause some meta runes are expensive like crazy (hello hoelbrak, strengh) also you can salvage dungeon armor why not wvw?

On another point they have to update the vendor with the sets with the new stats, trying new builds/ comps in wvw is important and funny and they have to promote that.

yeah this extraction problem of runes/sigils is a real problem . i hope they add soon a wvw extractor because the price of pve extractor ( for agony usage ) is a bit too expensive for what it offers

If I were OP I would invest in ascended weapons as they make a 5 to 8% difference. The ascended gear stat vs exo is very little, 1 to 2%. You could also eventually (as Laurels fills up) get ascended accessory, rings, trinket and back once you finished the weapon. That would make you pretty much on par with any ascedend hero out there.

Then why are you running upgrades and buying siege? There is so many players inside of wvw that played the game for a long while, swimming in gold and badges that you should not have to use your gold/badges/mats/skillpoints. Just call out in the chat that a upgrade is needed and usually at least 10 people will run there and make it.
If anyone ask why you don’t do it your self, then just tell them why and they will understand

So you want ascended gear for Badges of honor? I would not mind that at all.

No they should not add another "extractor"" or anything. Just make wvw/karma gear salvagable just like the rest of the gears around. Heck I’d even be happy if i only got the runes/sigil back and being account bound.

Honestly unless you are going to buy gems to get gold ignore the armor, it doesn’t make a huge difference. Concentrate on weapons. I play pretty casually now and I can still manage to poop one out every couple of weeks and I play 95% WvW.

Just buy gems or farm some gold,WvW will never give same gold as boring farm
