Rangers don’t lack survivability in WvW, What they lack is escape Methods

For example, My ranger is 10x more beefy then my thief when running similar setups, Simply because of easy access to Protection on Dodge. Not to mention the large amount of Evades I have with the Ranger.

However my thief dies a 1000 times less in world vs world compared to my Ranger because I can reset the fight multiple times all day long (Which is a huge flaw with Stealth in this game)

Other classes like Ele and Mesmer can do the same, hence why they’re considered amazing.

If an Ele doesn’t want to die, He won’t… same with a Thief.

All classes are good at something, and its 90% up to the players skill and knowledge to play it that makes it good or bad or even beyond epic.

Rangers used to be really easy kills. But I’ve noticed a lot have gotten significantly better over the past months and now many manage to put up a bit of a fight.

Maybe the whole “I only spec for DPS” mentality has died out a little or maybe people have just gotten better but Rangers seem to be in a better position than they were a while back.

Most Rangers have moved over to Bunker builds, which is why they’ve grown much harder to kill..You don’t see many Glass cannon Rangers anymore because the class doesn’t lend itself very well to being Glass Cannon after the SB nerf with QZ.

Now Most rangers are running high healing/condition bunker builds while relying on their Pet for Burst.

You pretty much need a gaming mouse to play a ranger well in WvW. They won’t let you do keybinds to the mousewheel because it only constitutes a keypress; and a keyrelease is needed in this game to reprime abilities. So you need extra buttons on your mouse for your free fingers to manage pet attack and return while keeping your pet passive. Otherwise you pet gets tab-targeted or auto-targeted and dies. (It took me a while to wring this out of Anet. The path to the answer was pretty convoluted and clandestine; and arrived at the answer that made little sense to the issue as a whole. But nonetheless its the answer.) With a gaming mouse a ranger can probably beat anything one on one if you use the invulnerability signet. For large scale battles you’re pretty much restricted to the devourer or buff pets unless you want to throw a one time wolf fear or some other aoe into a pack of people using guard(or a jaguar every 40 seconds).

I command with my Ranger and always feel like I can play an important roll. This is true whether I’m running Solo, in a Gank group, or leading Zurg on Zurg open field.

MY ADVICE: Find a class that youre COMFORTABLE with, dont force a sparkly class to work for you and you will be GREAT.

But to directly answer your question, a well played Ranger can be absolutely LETHAL.

No need to insult the Ranger community brother. They’re free kills to any decent player, you and I both know it.

I could never lose to a Ranger as a Thief, ever.
