The complete solution is (1) reduce AoE cleanses (single button ones) to make conditions more viable in group fights, (2) nerf resistance down to a 33% damage reduction, (3) make changes to boonshare to take it out of the meta.
Doing this without addressing some issues with conditions would usher in the dark ages of the full condi blob. Power is already greatly mitigated by condi bunker builds that can build for near max dmg while condi chews through sustain builds like warm butter.
Already have blobs running heavy condi with boon strip/corrupt. Buffing them that much would probably see condi rule every scale in wvw.
Though I admit an army of unblockable condi reapers as a backline sounds fun. I get tired of seeing a bunch of meteor shower spam that lasts like half an hour per cast. I sincerely doubt this would be good for wvw though.
They have nerfed the reduce condi food in favor of more condi. They further boost it with increased condi stacks.
1. They also nerfed +duration foods so your point is moot.
2. Condi stack limits are irrelevant to PvP – if you have 25 stacks of bleed in WvW/sPvP you are already a dead man walking, 30 or 40 is hardly worse than 25, you’re still dead.
PvP? This is WvW, you sure you are in the right forums? In wvw we have zerg and blob, we have necro with epidemic. You think is not possible stack it to a deadly point? If it isn’t possible, why do people have to use boonshare to maintain that disgusting amount of resistance uptime? Bragging rights?
To help keep up stability, might, etc. They don’t run boonshare/duration just for resistance. Resistance does however keeps the zergs immune to CC like chill, immobilize and fear.
It’s not for damaging conditions which are much less effective than direct damage on that scale.
Less effective, erm, I am sure someone in this thread already mentioned that he or she managed to kill ppl using condi in that scale.
Groups of 25–40 never needed resistance. They could AoE cleanse and ignore condi application anyway. Resistance is a problem BOTH because of boonshare stacking and because of the 100% immunity.
Ironically, boonshare compositions that capable of sustain 100% quickness and resistance are more often seen in that numbers.
Well 100% quickness is gold for winning fights, that and protection.
And resistance in the current meta replaces cleanses, which means the main line only needs to run utilities that increase damage or provide a tactical advantage. Basically it takes condi clear, the thing that supposedly is designed to counter conditions, and replaces it with a single mechanic—resistance—that is up 100% of the time under boonshare.
I get that some people are content letting conditions stay irrelevant at large scale WvW but I don’t think that is healthy for the game.

I hope everyone and their dog runs boonshare so this Condi Mesmer+Thief that plague this game mode are gone.As much as Resistance with high Boon Duration is broken, if it puts off scrubs from running cheese then so be it.

Thief condi builds have effectively been neutered since the Plex nerf. Condi Shatter is a real thing though.
But resistance means I’m only running Vitality and Toughness on my build.

Just a question … what happens to pain absorption if you decide to nerf resistance under the various suggestions? So far it looks like it would basically be a potential auto suicide skill if resistance was say stackable

IMO resistance is one of the most interesting boons/mechanics in the game. It is completely counterable with any form of boon hate, or physical damage. I don’t see the problem.
The problem isn’t the existence of the resistance, the problem is that whole zergs can have this boon almost permanently through boonshare atm.
- Boon strip isn’t available as an option for all classes atm, thus for countering this you have to totally change the composition of your zerg.
- Physical damage doesn’t “counter” this, as zergs with the boon aren’t more vulnerable to damage than any other zerg, it may “avoid” it but since almost all classes do some kind of condition damage, even if you run a physical class/build, the loss in damage will lead to your zerg losing the fight if the opponent zerg runs boonshare resistance and you are not.
Atm. it is imho better to counter it with just running boonshare better than the other zerg and abolish condition damage builds in zergs until it is fixed.
It would be easy to fix it with a max duration for boons or nerfing inspiration signet.
Corruption for example also doesn’t take into account duration of the boons it corrupts. The conditions are fixed in duration. In the same way the inspiration signet could be nerfed.
