Sabotage Discussion Thread
Inb4 mod deletes thread.
The best player in the game
“I’m better than all of you!”
It’s against forum terms of service to do this. Your only recourse is to file a support ticket under “violations” .. because any thread like this will be deleted.
I submitted a formal violations report, but combing through the code of conduct I saw there are no rules protecting wvw specifically. #22 forbids the manipulation/fixing of spvp matches and while I recognize the game modes are very different, the fact that there’s no rule preventing the kind of sabotage and trolling that are ruining the fun of wvw seems like a serious issue to me. That a few determined jerks can seriously cripple our ability to properly play the game should require attention.
Anet has stated they’re not looking for fair matchups, but when the opposition is on our own server we have no way to fight back.

There used to be another stickies to the top of this forum that says you cannot posts screens etc alleging hacks or exploits, but instead send email to exploits@arena.net.

If the exploit is just buying a new account and doing normal stuff like piloting a golem, does it fall under the same rules? I imagine that rule is in place to prevent knowledge of how to break/abuse the game from spreading, but this isn’t a flaw in the game’s internal mechanics so much as it is a lack of protection for wvw players. What I think is really missing is a way to report and prevent this kind of behavior. There are ways to get rid of gold sellers, spammers, scammers, etc. Why not sabotage?
Yes, we can contact anet and file reports through this site, but for one thing it’s time consuming and difficult, so many report only in game, and after weeks of one saboteur being reported by hundreds of players they are still openly and shamelessly continuing the same bad behavior.
I believe anet has a good reason to stop people from posting specific player information. Just because the majority of people may believe something doesn’t make it true.
There’s been instances of pitchforking on big sites like reddit which in the end turned out badly because it was all a misunderstanding or something, but in the process ruined someone’s life.
If you believe something is happening then submit it to anet. Posting specific player information on the forums is really not the appropriate avenue to turn to.
I have redacted my goal of collecting player information, I understand how this could be abused and by no means want to start a witch hunt. In the case of my server we have undeniable proof that a self-admitted spy/saboteur has been griefing us for weeks, and I made this thread with that in mind.
I am simply frustrated with the lack of results of contacting/reporting to anet, and frustrated that there is nothing else that can be done. If other players had some experience with this situation (i’ve heard it’s old hat on tier one servers) I’d be glad to hear about it if only because not discussing it is upsetting and crowding map chat in wvw is not the place.

Actually we have proof he was on during league round 6 and now this week. He was suspiciously absent during league week 7.
Today he also proved he was in comms with people on a certain server. A certain guild which we determined him to be in due to him forgetting to remove his tag at one point was contacted about him and shortly thereafter he joked about us partying up said guild members to talk about him.
I was in map at that time and read that conversation. It’s that sort of totally overt flaunting that makes me wonder why such obvious misery hunters can’t be easily brought to an appropriate penalty.
