Server Association

just saying…. ive got all but 3 of the completed tourney achievements (last tier for dolyaks and world ranks, then reactor robber is like 30/x who knows) . still shows I’m on my old server. 1 week after tourney started, paid gems (IRL money) to transfer, and nothing yet. this includes completing a loooot of daily achievements as well as the meta achievements on current server. only ones i fully completed on my old one were the 1 tier achievements. jps/ (maybe badges?)/entering the tournament. I doubt anything will be looked at for this bug now. glad i made the transfer regardless of not getting the rewards, but its kind of crappy to spend the all but a week+ lockout playing on a server to win and do well and still be tied to the other server that ends up tanking. oh well, no mist skin. paid 10 dollars too late
Just keep wvwing, I transferred at the beginning of week 3 even after I finished the meta on my old server and I still managed to get my association changed.
No change still after a week what the hell…. this can’t be right :S
This is just my guess but i believe the association is either dictated by number of events completed or wvw ranks gained. They are both the only 2 things broad enough to measure a persons activity as a whole in wvw. So my suggestion is to karma train as much as possible and use wvw xp boosters.
I finally got a decent answer from customer support after having sent 3 tickets.
According to the GM, you stay associated to the server which you were on when the tournament started.
I’m not pleased since they claim that your association will graduately (?) change over time while they now tell me that well I’m kittened anyway.
Though I’ve seen several people who’ve been re-associated succesfully, once again Anet proves how morronic their approach on this is.
I just hope they think stuff like this through in future seasons…

Do you think I can get a refund then for the transfer? Since they obviously said in their blogpost I would be associated whereever I played the most on

That GM is wrong and dumb. Fellow guildie transferred in Week 2 and has successfully re-associated, I swapped in week 3-4 and have never changed.
So either its based on number of achievements completed on each server or its just plain bugged.
Yeah I think it’s strange that in the blogpost they say that you’re association will change over time and then I get this response. Maybe it’s broken OR it is indeed tied to the amount of META achievements you completed on the new/old server.
A little bit of clarity on ANets side would’ve been so marvelous. IF it is META-achievement bound, I for one am to be associated to my old server indeed.
The only thing that bugs me is the communication. Is it that hard to be clear? Or to even admit it’s bugged? What a bunch of kittenholes…
As for refunds, I wouldn’t even want one. I mean it’d make you even more of a bandwagonner and I also plan to stay on my server since I’ve found a good guild and I like the WvW community there, we’ve had some great additions

I got no answer after sending 50 tickets…. the tournament is nearly done and we still have no answer about how we can get on our new server. i transfered at the 15. April but did all achievs in week 1 and it still sais im on Vaabi. im 10000% sure its a bug. i played nearly 5 times more on Seafarer now than on Vaabi. But the stupid NPC still saying im on vaabi. its really annoying and rediculous. Even the german Forum dont give any answers. I reported this bug also ingame nearly over 70 times…. i wonder when they will kitteng fix this kitten bug…. i want my money back or the right reward at the end tho.

Same here, sorry for my language but I kittening give up, after playing 6 weeks on my new server for 10hours averagly everyday I am still associated with my old one, kitten this kitten
At the very minimum Anet shuold have programmed some kind of indication, like a scale or something, so you could see how you progressed towards the new server. Right now there is just a yes/no answer so noone feels any progress at all.
I have more than one friend who are very frustrated now because of not getting their affiliation changed despite being on the new server for a long time and I sympathise with them.
Personally I have stuck with the same old server as always so I am just happy :-)
Well, I just shifted tonight, hours before the season finishes.
I have to say though, my shift happened at (from memory) the EXACT same time of the week I shifted from SoR to TC six weeks ago. So either that is a cosmic coincidence or its just based on weeks on one vs weeks on the other.
Lol so because my spring achievements (all of them) where completed on first server, rather then second one, my association remains with last server? lol. I killed more ppl on second server, I played more, capped more stuff, defended more, etc. If the achievements had a secret ‘2nd’ counter, i easely completed all of them again on second server.
Luckely for me this isnt an issue, both servers and 2nd. But for other peopel this is really bad.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
Still no solid answers here, what’s up? -_-
I heard from a friend it was based on what realm you did the WvW achievements and was based on which realm you did the most achievements on. I dont know if this is true, but based on what ive read it makes sence.

This is not correct.
I finished all my achievements (except the 2 EoTM ones) in around one(ish) week on my original server. I then transferred to TC in about week 3 (or 4, I forget).
My re-association happened last night. Took absolutely forever but it happened.
I finished all but 2-3 achieves within a couple of days of the tournament starting, transferred in the middle of week 2, when I realized that most of the guilds/commanders that I like had left. Despite participating daily, doubling my overall wvw rank, and completing far more events than would have been feasible during my stay with my first server, I was never able to change my association. Now watching the issues with granting awards, I’m inclined to believe that there’s a bug.
Kind of hoping for a gem refund, since I find that blog post describing association to be misleading.
The truth is, broken promises and out right lies or they don’t even know how their own game runs. It was suppose to be gradual but seeing as that didn’t work they just go ahead and make up another excuse like “it depends on how much you achieved and on what server” which was never stated to begin with. Lets not even get into how they demoralize lower population servers even more every time they have a season “we know you don’t stand a chance, we know your going to work twice as hard as any other server in your league, but were still not going to give you anything worth while because we save the good stuff for the servers that don’t have to work for it”
I like how the one Anet person responded and then silence. Must have been new, and thought “Oh how bad could it be? I will just tell them how it works…..”.
First of all, it would be nice to get a non-vague response, is it amount of time played, levels/rank earned, achievements?
It has been over 6 weeks since my transfer, still associated with Eredon Terrace. I literally have gone from rank 70ish to 159 since the transfer. I doubled my rank on the new server Ehmry Bay, and still associated with old server.
Here’s exactly how Association worked for this latest tournament, and why it can have the effects some of you are seeing .
For WvW Spring Tournament 2014, this is how Association scoring worked:
- Load into a WvW map for the first time that day: Gain 1 Association score for your current home world.
- Complete any achievement that contributes to the WvW Spring Tournament 2014 meta achievement: Gain 2 Association score for your current home world.
Your main Associated shard is then the one with the highest score within the current datacenter. That last part is the caveat that’s preventing some tournament rewards from being issued. Or in some cases “wrong” rewards (working as intended, but not desired, and certainly not clear). In other cases, if a player transferred mid-tournament and has Associations in both datacenters, their rewards will be bound to the most-Associated shard within the datacenter when they talk to the Battle Historian to get the new tournament tickets. This is the intended behavior for this tournament, but has been confounded by issues with Association getting locked-in prematurely.
Some rewards were incorrectly granted too early. When rewards are given, your most-associated world is locked-in at that moment. This applies even if you change datacenters. Your Association scores can still change, but your one true Association for that tournament is still the one from which you received rewards. With the fix that went out on June 17th, that lock was reset, resetting your most-Associated world to whichever one has the highest score in your current datacenter, until talking to the Historian and getting the rewards locks/locked it in again.
And here I give you the original post.
Your world association will be based on your participation throughout the tournament. If you play on multiple worlds during the tournament, the world you represented the most will be the one with which you are associated. We are adding a new Battle Historian NPC to all the WvW maps who will tell you which world you are associated with.
Nothing said about achievements, it states the world you rep’d the most, as in the world you played for the most. Perhaps next time you guys should be specific on how it works, your post is completely different from the original post. This is a perfect example of the communication gap between you (Anet) and your player base.
Thank you for answering the question in detail though, I’m assuming this is what we can base server association off of from this point on ?
