Well its happened exactly as predicted with BG and YB going to very high due to gaming the system. This is exactly why the server caps are a bad idea.

Yes because that will make T1 competitive considering the now weakest T1 server is still locked and how will it help off hours considering JQ is now the weakest SEA server in T1 with RA getting reinforcements and you and FUG leaving JQ and it can’t get transfers in.

I’m not sure about the numbers, but he isn’t totally wrong either.
with cA and Fug leaving there won’t be much SEA timezone left on JQ, while BG still has a large force in that timezone. And I don’t know where cA and Fug go, but when they join YB it will be whole different story.
JQ is almost empty in NA again and can’t recruit any players, while both YB and BG always had 2 or 3 times the numbers.
I still wonder how Anets system of “let’s count wvw population” works, but it doesn’t seem to work at all, when YB and BG are on “high” status.
I am way more kittened off than this than I should be. I would love to rant and rave, ask for a refund and swear I will never be back. However I am too busy enjoying another game to care right now. I rarely post about anything but I was on the ledge between which game to spend my time on for the last few days and now the decision is clear to me.
I know 1 person makes no difference, but this post isn’t about you this post is about me and I don’t care if you care. If you read this than my opinion will be on your mind for a bit and I will not be viewing any replies deal with it. I may be back in a week or month or never.

I want to throw in that I’m looking for a server who knows how to play wvw – I don’t think I care that much about coverage but I always want to scream when I read “inc keep” or when someone rather mans the ac instead of the cannon when 5 omegas are incoming.
In the end you can get as much coverage as you want to but if no one knows how to play it becomes stale very fast.

Nope, CA and FUG were the main sea guilds left on JQ, CA has gone to YB don’t know where FUG is going. RA ran a big blob before now, it will get bigger. FOO and WvW don’t have many on now, more may return but there has been no evidence so far.
There is always going to be a way to game the system, I just wish ArenaNet as much effort into balancing WvW population balance and health as the T1 servers do in manipulating population balance and health.
Actually, Arenanet needs to get out of the way. We, the 10’s of thousands of WvW players, can do a much better job of balancing coverage and making enjoyable match ups than a handful of Devs that don’t even play the mode.
T1 needed more players to maintain large scale combat over 24 hours a day. That’s not even debatable at this point. I’m just going to point you to read my previous post on page 1 for the rest.
Lemme grab my Tin Foil Hat for a minute and say, it looks the Devs have a Tactivator on the server status. Maybe the dev’s don’t realize the top servers are all very organized and have our own metrics of our WvW player base?

Population imbalances within a tier is all that matters. Tier rotation should never be sought after. Each tier should always viewed and designed as a separate entity. It’s the only way to make a stable and wider “Goldilocks Zone” for the varied types of WvW player.

Balancing could be much easier, if they finally could introduce a dynamic limit.
Which means that no server can outnumber any of the other two on a borderland.
If server a has 30 players on the map, server b has 40, than server c shouldn’t be able to have more than 50 (no fix numbers, just to get the idea) – and the numbers should be shown next to the score board and synched every x minutes (maybe an hour)
In that case no server stacking would help you achieve anything and every guild should be smart enough to decide what servers they should avoid.
To help the gvg guys, they should make OS a megaserver. If you want to gvg, go OS arena and meet guilds from all servers and no longer depending on the homeserver. it works for pve, why shouldn’t it work for an additional map that has no other use except GvG and ganking?

We’re back to doing the Full Server thing again…
Manually or Automatically merging Populations to fix population imbalances will continue to fail.
The Core 3 Way Fight map mechanic is the source behind Server Stacking.
All Players know that the #1 World wins more than number 2 & 3 in each Tier.
Current Base Map Mechanic encourages players to move to the #1 World in their Tier or the whole NA or EU region.
Honestly…ANet should change this Core 3 Way Fight map mechanic…imho.
WvW will continually arrive back to this Full Server thing…again & again.
We’re once again headed to un-balanced fights & stale weekly match ups.
There is a far more simple & elegant solution…imho.

Clarifying
Full Server thing is good
IF…across all World servers:
1) In-Game – Fights are typically more open & tend to be more balanced in force
2) Weekly – Match Ups aren’t so predictable & stale/locked between the same enemy
Core Base Map Mechanic needs to be:
Player Driven…yet…ANet Controlled

ANet can keep merging World Servers until there’s only 3 Left.
ANet will never solve the problem that is caused by the typical player’s behavior to server stack onto the #1 World server that wins more often.
Or, the solution will be very complex…and the ripple effects will be unknown & un-controllable for long periods of time.
WvW Community…will have a future where it’s very difficult to nurture anything stable, or long term.
Unbalanced Fights & Stale Match Ups will be the norm if we continue to use this Core 3 Way Fight map mechanic…imho.
