And yet there are tons of people who have no problem fighting them. all you have to do is play as one for a few weeks to understand how they work and you’ll stop getting your kitten handed to you.
half the people calling for a nerf seem to be under the impression that cooling is still keeping them invisible for the duration of the fight. They have weaknesses, learn them.
It’s more on the lines of how often a thief can easily enter stealth due to the D/P set. That’s the one that annoys people, since you can’t counter a ranged stealther nowhere near as easily as one abusing CnD (which is super easy to counter).
L2P = perma stealth on the forums.
You will never convince thieves who want it easy. Some of us thieves appreciate a challenge and don’t rely on perma stealth. I suggest that those of you who think perma stealth and stealthing while in combat is badly broken continue to send respectful but firm and frequent feedback to anet. When other games come out and threaten this one, they will have no choice but to take action.
I can’t wait because thieves will never get other things fixed while we are the most op class in wvw.

To whom do I send a respectful feedback? Got a link?

Do you just copy and paste the same 2 things in every nerf stealth thread?
I didn’t even finish leveling my thief. Stealth is just something you need to learn how to fight against. If all you want is a punching bag to stand still and soak up hits then this games pve is perfect for you
Victim complex is stronk.

I have a thief at lvl80 full equipped and i only play it on wvw, I know how that works.
I have 5 different character and i know some classes has more or less problem vs stealth. Still a problem. Because they have a “free card” to not die without risk or punishment.
A lot of ppl haven’t problem vs stealth because that lot of ppl play with zerg only or 5+ groups. Any decent romaer know d/p thief is one of the most strongest roamers along with PU mesmer only because the insane amount of stealth. The problem is not only they are strong, which is fine, is HOW THEY ARE STRONG, stealth haven’t real counter, and you just can face a lot of enemies without risk, a good thief never die, they have enough blinds, evasions, shadowsteps and strunbreaker plus the infinite stealth, you only need to not blow up your initiative. The only counter for stealth is hitting where you “SUPPOSE” the enemy is. That is no real counter and is because that stealth need a rework. Not a nerf, a rework.
And that amount of survivability can be played wearing full zerker, almost without risk compared with another profession where using full glass canon has a big risk.

Please, enlighten us how to fight against stealth WITHOUT hitting where you SUPPOSE the enemy is. Because that is not a real counter or “know how to play against” you can be a pro guessing where the thief is, the reality is if the thief has brain, and he can see you, he can know better than you where you will hit.
AOE damage is easy to dodge, still you need to guess where he is. CC is not a counter neither, a good thief have enough stunbreaker. Immobilize don’t stop shadowsteps.
Before you answer consider this: The enemy has cool down on his abilities (longer than you initiative regen), you only have CD on your utilities. And is true the initiative is not infinite but has a lot, a LOT of regen, and is YOUR choice when you use a skill, you don’t need to wait for CD if you use it. Is absolutely on your hands how you spend initiative without the CD limitation.
Well the easiest thing to do is lay some cc when they use black powder. They are going to be leaping through it to get stealth, if they can’t make several leaps through it they will only have a few seconds of stealth and then be revealed for another few seconds.
You said you play a thief so you should know that it’s not like they are magically not there anymore, or have become invulnerable. Just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean you can’t hit them. All you need is aoe or a weapon that cleaves.
clearly some of my fellow thieves are upset. this is an opinion and feedback board. I am simply encouraging those who know that stealth is badly broken to use the website or in game feedback options to fl..err provide persistant feedback. what’s wrong with that?
And really thieves aren’t any better at resetting a 1v1 fight than a warrior is. I get a lot more annoyed by a warrior who is almost completely immune to cc, conditions, and can run like Usain Bolt than I am by thieves disappearing on me.

As i said before, hitting guessing where he is is not a real counter, is only try to predict where they are.
One or two times is ok, but with d/p spamming is pretty annoying try to avoid/absorb the constant tries of nuke you from the thief and if not killyou just disappear.
Yes, i have a thief and i know if i dont want to die, i dont die.

I’ve seen many posts about the thiefs from you, you have been called to troll even so many times I guess.
I will give you the benefit of the doubt because I agree with you, if the thiefs do not see that invisibility(also for the mesmer) is overpowered and clearly not fun to play against they will never get fixed. They need something besides invis to keep them competitive.
And lets stop calling it stealth because it really is not.
I don’t mind stealth so much, but I wish there was a way to counter it. Like in AoC every player has a “search” skill, that would unstealth the player if they were within a certain aoe radius. It had a cool down so you couldn’t spam it.

Those warriors are running a troll GS/SwWh build which has real crappy combat potential. No hard CC, the only real source of good damage is 100B and Final Thrust, bith of which are super easy to avoid. The only thing that should die to them is a severely up leveled ranger. You can see them coming and you can see them running away. I would rather face one of those than a zerk D/P thief day of the week, which not only has the potential to kill you with ease but also has a get out of jail free card in case he messes up.
Stealth by itself is not over powered (see Mesmer). It is the combination of many things that makes a Thief such an annoying package.
- Initiative: on-demand damage/utility; more forgiving than a standard cool down if you ask me
- Multiple access/refreshment of stealth
- Fast attack animation/cast time
Continuing from that stealth OP complaint thread: complaining wont get you alive now. Even ‘measly’ rangers like me can beat them d/d stealth spamming thieves at some times besides using the regen, condi, bunk, evade builds. We just need a harder counter and this is more a defensive stance cause you’re never gonna beat one every time specially if they’re really good.
Dont go full glass on a ranger in wvw. as a ranger player i like targeting full glass and squishy rangers who get in the fray alot cause it’s honestly the easiest kill in the game. If a ranger insists on being full glass, at least get 1500 range instead of spotter and stay really far and/or hidden that’s what you’re supposed to do if you’re full glass.
Personally I add a little toughness i went 30-20-20 with a mix of knights/cavs/zerks gear with signet of stone for active null damage and i get around 2.7k+ armor when holding my soldier stat GS.
GS4 counterattack and and having 2 wolves/dogs knocking them down works well too. when he disappears to open combat, remember that stealth has a short duration (except for SR) so have GS4 block ready for a backstab and another CnD. if a block is successful against their backstab and CnD, they get knocked back by counterattack with around 3.8-4k damage and then hopefully your dog knocks him down too if the pet mechanic doesnt screw up. if you get lucky after block and knockback, their initial response after that would be to spam hide in shadows key so switch to LB, use sic ‘em (for 4secs unstealth), QZ, LB4, LB2 before they can hide. I see some who survive this and SR/BP to stealth so barrage away or use wolf fear (which cancels alot). Usually works against easy mode noobish D/D thieves. I honestly find the D/P a harder counter because of the blinds. shadow stepping thieves is a bit of a problem sometimes cause they can re open quick so just stay aggressive only if its possible or just run away with using GS3.
The dec. 10 balance patch their natural init gain is faster than ever so it’s a bit harder for me these days. I also play thief with some asc gear so i kinda know how they work a bit. I also experienced a lot of Necros that can kill a lot faster than a thief vs. my ranger and those stealth mesmers are a lot more deceptive and confusing to fight. Thieves wont usually be as effective in zerg v zerg situations so i think there’s no op in stealth, it’s just VERY annoying to fight them but it’s real fun and exciting when you take down a roaming thief.
