Alright, this may be on the side of insanity but i have only three words to say, Super Siege Weapons. Yes, you heard me. Now hear me out.
I was thinking that these SSW items could possibly be unique per server(something to boast pride) or have some generic one that each server can pick before each matchup (easier to balance). These items would be insanely deadly (offensively or defensively) and would also come with some anti-zerging capabilites, like Tequatl style death waves, death rays, whatever. These weapons could possibly be mobile structures or deadly terittorial NPCs/dragons whatever you can think of that sounds painful and makes you go ouch.
List of possible items:
Territorial dragons, airships, tunnelers, beam cannons, titans, flesh eating rabbits, air strikes(something ANET is already planning?), black portals, something that makes you go Oh ajdhfbk!
These structures would require multiple commanders just to initiate and to place on the field for construction. Possibly even a commander to control it too, to prevent trolling. It could folllkw it the nearest commander perhaps. The SSW would have a time limit or course, or perhaps better yet, make it start costing supply/player sacrifices to upkeep and upkeep would increase incrementally the longer its out before it self destructs or leaves the field. Of course have some drawback to using the SSW as well.
However, these items should give each server a major ACE card up their sleeve to play which would change the battlefield completely and create more dynamic smarter fights. Smaller severs would be able to put a major dent on strongly fortified keeps and bigger servers. Servers could use dirty tactics and team up on a weaker servers or coordinate an attack on a much stronger server. War isnt fair right?
Of course some balancing would need to be done such as making it so that these SSW’s could only be created once every few days or possibly just once during a weekly match per borderland, or just have it on a global build counter – start with less and increase as needed.
If its a mobile weapon then it would move quite slow and also have its icon on the world map for all teams to see because of its size. If its an NPC then it would claim a chosen section of the map giving the server domminace of that section for whatever amount time and could also have its icon on the map.
*Dragons demand player sacrifices from their own team to upkeep.
Another zerg counter
Possibly make the siege upkeep increase faster when more players are bunched around it to prevent zerging from side using it.
greater than 30 players for +1
greater than 60 players for +2
The objective would be to create some strategic super plays, that could be unpredictable, and make for some epic battles.
Anyway those are just my crazy ideas. I figured I would share with the community. Does anyone else have practical or crazy ideas for super siege?
