My guild and I recently decided to move servers – we’re switching from Sea of Sorrows to Jade Quarry.
Each of us got their 1800 gems in their wallets, and we’ve been waiting impatiently for the moment that JQ would drop below full status.
However, it seems that just now the transfer fees increased. Transferring to a ‘very high’ population server now seems to cost 2400 gems, which means that we’re back to square one.
Why wasn’t this change in transfer costs announced, like they previously have been?
According to the Wiki, ArenaNet will increase the price of server transfers during WvW tournaments. The current tournament started September 12th (today).
From the Wiki: Tournament pricing
“During WvW tournaments, Arenanet will change the pricing to encourage movement to lower-ranked servers and discourage people from transferring to better-ranked servers just for the tournament rewards. "
