Unofficial "Dueling" Area in WvW: Look!
Ayano Yagami lvl 80 ele
Dueling in the WvW? Hmm..wonder if it has anything to do with WvW being a pve zerg fest, boring and lacking any use of mental skills.
There are dueling servers, btw. Unless your more interested in even more imbalance from consumables, server buffs and asc gear.
Don’t understand why people are so against dueling in wvw, it’d completely differed then pvp imo because it lets people show off their skill with their own build and hard earned gear. It also let’s people from other servers get to know who they’re playing against without all the misconceptions of the forum pvf. A lot of the time players can get great advice in these fights and usually the people who care about getting better at the game or are good individual players will go to these to try out their skills against players of other challenging servers. Usually they are held on a bl where there is no queue and that server has an agreement, there is no need to worry about queues, its also done toward the end of the week when the match is practically already decided. So many people against fight club, im quite surprised actually.

You can get better advice from dueling arenas where the winning is less from buffs/gear than from your class/knowing how to play it.
I’m not against wvw dueling but it’s just a sad indicator of how stale wvw is.

In my experience I’ve gotten much better information and have found wvw to have better customization when it comes to choosing gear and having a mix, one unofficial rule is no stacks and nourishments of both agree to it, its not that wvw has become stale but a lot of the roamers like to have 1v1’s to test their skill against other people and just another way to have fun.

I wish we could’ve talked with each other, it’s a shame ANet completely blocked that off.
one of the enemies sometimes stunned me or something similar, non-damaging (I retaliated with temporal curtain pulling and moa morph), but I couldn’t communicate to invite him to a friendly duel so we parted ways after the other guild wiped the floor with us a few times ;-)
I really don’t get why talking is forbidden. if someone insults you, you report them. but if you had a cool fight and want to say something nice you’re limited to a simple /bow .
Just a reminder if you didnt know before, you can invite enemy invaders to your party vith the /invite command or from the party window. That way you can talk to them and set up duels – presuming ofc. that they are not in a party already/decline you.
Lol, just spent an enjoyable hour in wvw. Pointed out the duelists hanging around, and we kept zerging through to smoke ‘em. One of my friends from dungeon running is on DH (we’re IoJ) and is trying to get them to do the same to our “duelists”.
Bit of a pity they’re out of the way of anything really tactical, but whatever. Worth the detour just to stomp ’em.
This is pretty much what I expect to happen now. The duelists will become entertaining fodder for the WvWers.
Guessing that`d mean the PvDKnockers will have to come with a zerg (for a change…;p) as I`d also place bets that the duellers/GvGers will be better at PvP.
Better at dueling, 1-v-1, PvP perhaps. Unfortunately for them open field, mass combat, involves an entirely different skill set. I think the phrase you are looking for is “steam rolled”.
It should probably be pointed out I am not referring to random pug zergs here, but dedicated WvW guilds. You know, the guys that show up with 15-ish and wipe the 40+ person pug zergs without batting an eye? Yeah, them.
I find that a lot of the duelers are actually a part of those 15ish guilds that wipe larger pug groups and they do the dueling while most of their guild isn’t on. I personally don’t participate in the dueling stuff because I build my characters for group combat, but I love watching it all the same.
Also, those guild groups do the exact same when they GvG in the same spot the duels usually take place, so they’re not very likely to go out of their way to kill duelers. Most good guilds I know will have participated in GvGs frequently enough so unless there’s some totally different atmosphere going on in the servers you interact with, I’m not sure any of those guilds will do what you think they would.
Watch a bunch of frustated PvP players in WWW?
Go to PvP!!! Leave WWW.
I have placed a circle around common areas of dueling. This is not a guarantee but many fights can be found around here.
I don’t think people can fathom that most people doing fight clubs and gvgs are the more active wvw guild

my gess is that people thinks its the Spvp or Tpvp players that does the dueling when its true that most of them are from very aktive wvw guilds and most likely is also doing alot more over the week for the server then the people complaining right now

I’m not against these GvG events as such and feel this type of play should be catered for.
What can be annoying is that there could upwards of 60 – 80 players sometimes, hanging around the dueling areas waiting to fight, and waiting, and waiting, because that it what it seems to consist of largely.
All the while, we are losing towers and keeps while your buddies can’t enter because of queues.
no one fight clubs on.a qd map ever its always off prime time like I said its mainly the big wvw guilds who care about the points and injectors

You Americans are so behind… Its common on EU servers for very long time, we even got dueling guilds to represent while dueling for chat… I dont get why would you post such things on official forums, it only brings drama
Its common on us servers has been for a longtime why some1 brings it up now idk

I’m surprised how many narrow-minded people replied in here. Duels often take place on borderlands without queues, and as such there shouldn’t be a problem for anyone. The argument that people shouldn’t be doing it just because it’s a WvW area is absolutely ridiculous. It’s open world PvP, you’re free to do whatever the hell you want. WvW has become stale enough without people telling us what we can and cannot do.
Having said that, I agree it would be preferable if A-net introduced some kind of arena where you can duel opposing servers and people on your own server alike, without having to worry about taking queue slots. I know spvp will have custom arenas for everyone soon (if I remember correctly), but you just can’t get the same customizations there as you have in WvW, the build options being limited and most of us are used to our WvW setups.

Really?
That wasn’t the case only last night on FSP border. We had queues of 30 minutes or more.
It does happen and can make the difference between winning and losing.
Anyway, I’m not whining but you can see my point surely.
Was there a fight club or just a q ? And idk all the servers I have played against and done fight clubs with try their hardest to make sure it effects nothing always in a bl and not during na primetime.. so on and if their isa q u can ask them to go to a dif map most will because they understand

There was a fight club with 60 – 80 players, and a queue where 2 of our guildies couldn’t enter for over 30 minutes. We were pretty much the only ones defending Hills and could have used a little help.
It’s not generally a major problem and I don’t want to make a big deal of it, other than to say that it can be a problem at times.

Most of the time things like this can.be remedied with a polite coversation requesting help or for them to change bls if they are kittens about it well then that’s a problem

Yup, in hindsight we could have asked them, but we had a comfortable lead anyway so in the long run it didn’t really matter, on this occasion.
