I’ve just came back after almost a year break from GW2 and it results that my home world (Underworld) is empty comparing to its condition from last year.

In WvWvW there are usually many low levels and our zerg is rather small. More ppl tend to join in the evening but I wouldn’t say we are close to hitting the WvWvW player limit cap. I guess there was some massive migration when I was not playing as in normally populated zones there are no players.

I wanted to ask is there any migrating process planned to join up underpopulated realms? Or the only way to play with other people is to pay 1800 gems for world change? (I would rather stop playing though than join a game after one year break to farm gems in order to change realm)

You have several options to transfer to another WvW server that has the population you’re looking for.

Since you don’t want to grind for transfer money, your options are limited to…..

1. Use real money to buy gems to transfer.
2. Ask a guild on a server you wish to transfer to to help pay your transfer costs
3. Delete all your characters, transfer for free because you have no characters. Start all over.

Other options:
1. Play EotM
2. Play PvE or PvP
3. Play another game

From what I saw on the forums, the Underworld community had massive schism and the majority of English speaking guilds left followed by Polish(?) guilds or something, so yeah, you’re gonna have to transfer I’m afraid. In the meantime, you can always get your wvw fix in edge of the mists

Whith seasons, Anet most of the time offer some free or cheap transfers according to ranking – that is, lower ranked server of each league is free / less expensive, higher get more expensive

but yeah immediate transfer might be the best option, we don’t yet know if there will be another season or if they will use the same transfer options – since it was pretty messy…

Join a guild that can help you transfer to T2.

Joining a guild that would help with transfer costs is prob your best option. That massive exodus happened pre season 2 and although UW recovered to some extend, it’s unlikely the population will raise more anytime soon.

Lots of guilds left with the free transfer.

I planned to stay in UW together with my WvW guild. But when we saw the result of all the guilds leaving, we transferred to Gandara.

We literally got golem rushed every evening. That was probably the most populated time of day. But we still werent able to stop the massive zergs from destroying our T3 keep and Garrison.

The advice from almost every player, and results of discussions regarding balance and coverage were simply: “transfer”

Thats what caused an even greater gap as you can see the results now.

Pre season 2 the T9 match up was very unbalanced, Vabbi just rofled over everyone. Curently T9 is pretty well balanced but quiet outside prime hours. Since OP mentioned he wants to play with other people, transfer is his best option.

Well here is your problem, and i was on UW until a little less then a year back when first breakdown came, A-Net is really crushing the very low populated servers and not giving them a fair chance to recover. Why i say that? Well UW is still today considered to be a very high populated server. It was empty long before i left and then there was no mega server, and both wvw and pve was empty to a point that the server felt like a ghost server.
A-Net count accounts not active accounts, and UW have a lot none active accounts and there for they will never go down to being a low pop server with a low cost to transfer. And who want to move to a ghost server and pay 1800 gems for it and end up with practically no wvw to mention. when you can pay 1800 gems and move to a active server with a healthy wvw population instead.

So my advice if you are unhappy is to transfer off it. It wont get better. It have not got better after i left, only gone down to the last spot and yet, you still after a year of this, have to pay 1800 gems to join that, because according to A-Net UW is highly populated. Is sad that they destroy servers in this way, but when i realized it a year back i moved.

Thank you very much for your answers guys, I gave it some thoughts and decided to quit the game for good. I really appreciate some of the alternatives you posted but in the end I haven’t played this game for a year and just wanted to do some wvwvw with my fixed 2nd coop player as in my opinion it is (or at least it was back in 2013) the best aspect of this game. Since the current conditions don’t allow us to enjoy it and transfer seems to be quite a problematic thing from my point of view it is not worth the chase.
