there seems to be some confusion here.. escape and mobility are two different concepts.
escape is being able to remove yourself from a losing situation long enough to regain parity.
ex: Mistform, one of the best escape options, doesn’t affect mobility at all.
Mistform is only an escape if you’re tower hugging, which despite common belief is not roaming. If you think something that just makes you invulnerable for a little bit without providing any gap wideners or movement speed bonus is an escape, then you must think guardians have a pretty sweet escape with renewed focus.

For roaming, escape means in-combat/burst mobility = leaps/charges/teleports. Either that or stealth (mesmer/theif). And the purpose is to have the option to either get out of combat or avoid combat in the first place. Because of course for a solo roamer, most encounters will be greater numbers than yourself. That’s why for example, necros (and guardians) are still not ideal solo roamers even with 1v1 builds.
It’s not a coincidence that the best roaming classes are the ones with the best escape/mobility options. The exception on my list at least, is engineer, since good engies are just monsters.
Also I believe mistform does give the max move speed cap which is about the same as out-of-combat with swiftness. It’s still not at all useful for roaming since it was nerfed to hell… like ele roaming in general.
all of them except necro for solo roaming, you can do it succesful but u have to pick your figths or yolo since u dont have easy escapes like all the other classes.
Arguably, “picking your fights” is what roaming is about for just about everyone.
Also, necros have better escape options than guardians and rangers
There’s no way necro would have better escape options (in WvW). You can prolong your death a little if you have some boring full condi build with staff and plague whatevs. That’s not escaping though. Guardian and ranger are both much better at running away. I just don’t run away a lot so I play necro.
i have met some guardians though, that are really nice in 1v2 situations. Would really like to know what build they are using, because i havent seen many builds that can survive aslong as a BM Dire/Apoth mix ranger can.

Lol, Not stating that T1 only has great players, but the “regulars” in T1 tend to be better geared, and have better knowledge of their class and other classes, than the lower tiers.
They know how which weapons are best for spamming one.
When in a zerg the class you play just needs to be able to do enough aoe damage to get bags and enough defensive skills to survive. You solo dps isn’t as important since most ppl will be taking damage from multiple sources. But if you cannot survive then no getting the bags that drop.
When solo the class needs enough dps to kill someone before they can kill you.
It’s more about builds than class.

If you compare a DPS ranger (full glass) to a DPS warrior, ranger will lose hands down without a chance.
If you reverse it and pit a tanker ranger against a tanker warrior, warrior will lose, because the rangers DPS is much much higher thanks to pet.
