Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
Every elementalist build relies on fast switching and using skills, but only one build has a decent amount of condition clearing, and that build is getting nerfed tomorrow.
Is it? Is there a dev post on class balance changes?
This post serves as a strong indicator of who actually talks and who actually walks. It’s ironic that 3 of the maybe 5 guilds worth fighting over 6 months of server hoping looking for any semblance of non-zerg mentality post on this thread about how broken confusion is.
To the original question, nothing will change, like Acelerion says, it only affects (albiet completely destorys) a small subset of this game, that will never be catered too. This game will never be more than an anonymous door bashing arena.
edit It might change, a few friends that still regularly play say AD is running a confusion / epidemic setup. Wait till that catches on
Ya, I give up. Tired of trying to convince these people. Every single name I recognize in this thread saying it needs to be nerfed runs smaller groups at a high level. Every single name I recognize saying it’s perfectly fine runs in a zerg and/or abuses confusion to the max. Just pointless talking about anymore unless Anet changes who they design the game for.

I’m certainly not the only person who is glad Anet didn’t design the game for mindless buttonmashers.

That’s something I can sort of agree with. I mean, seriously. You get several stacks of a condition on you and you take substantial damage each time you press a button. So apparently the perfect course of action in most people’s mind seems to be to… press more buttons more quickly? And heck, it’s not just a tiny icon in the status bar but also that bright purple glow around your head!
I know I’m not that great with reaction speed and combat awareness, but at least I attempt to always keep an eye on my buffs and debuffs. So far I’ve never died to confusion once, neither on my ranger or my mesmer or my warrior. And I do run with small/mid groups and big zergs (basically randomly, whatever strikes my fancy on that particular day).
But if you’re just slaving away on your damage rotation without caring about what actually happens in the battle… then imho you deserve to go down because of confusion. It’s similar to going down because you didn’t pay attention to the telegraphing of the warrior’s killshot. That’s been one of the important things about GW2 combat right from the start – you don’t play the GUI but have to pay attention on what’s happening around you.
But the mindless button mashers are the ones that scream for the most nerfs and the ones that constantly call something OP… Look through all the forum history and if someone can’t beat it with the build they run the most it’s OP… Certain builds in certain professions is a usually a hard counter to another build of another profession… Bunker v. GC etc etc. And really really… Confusion is by no means a hard counter to a D/D ele in their standard bunker build (x/x/x/30/30)… if the d/d ele is running an all power/crit type build then it’s an inherent risk of going down fast to confusion… It’s just something to consider when making your build… Another thing to consider is the build of the person you are fighting… The OP is griping about glamour mesmers… Firstly all glamour skills are on obscenely long cooldowns even when traited… And their durations are all half of what the tooltip states. And the most powerful glamour mesmers have in terms of damage is Feedback… If it’s null field oh well you don’t have boons for a little bit… (3-6 seconds IF THAT) the counters to this are removing yourself from the AOE glamour which will give you a whopping one stack of confusion… And if they have blinding befuddlement trait and the trait to make glamours blind foes at target locations that also means that they are super squishy outside of that because they prolly don’t have deceptive evasion traited NOR illusionary persona. So finding them and destroying them right after you remove that confusion should be easy peasy… And once again d/d bunker ele’s have best condi removal in game… If it is another build d/d ele then that is the price you pay for running that build… Oh hey guess who has the worst condi removal in game? Thats right mesmers… Warriors can still remove some condi’s with their heal skill, thieves have two heal skills that cure certain conditions as well as the ability to remove 1 condition for every three seconds while in stealth, rangers can just completely POOF all condi’s every 10 seconds, mesmers? we can remove 1 per heal if we trait it… other than that we rely SOLELY on utility slots all of which are on extremely long cooldowns to deal with conditions… but the people that prolly gripe the least about OP conditions? The ones that play mesmer’s because they require the most awareness of conditions on them compared to any other class…
I only have problems against confusion when I play my engineer.
