When will we get new WvW maps?
[Eon] – Blackgate
IMO while expanding the World make one of the new zones a open PvP zone. That would give a different aspect to PvE in that zone and it would give a place for GvG out side of WvW.
Whats wrong with Obsidian Sanctum for GvG? The staging area is perfect for GvGs! You can even have spectators at the spawns, safely watching.
Or is it too small an area?
Try getting 40+ people trough EB queques in prime time.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.

EB will normally always have a queue or close to a queue since its a prime map to play. That is what makes it hard to get a full team in. That and I would only guess with the amount of camping in the JP it would be hard to not get greifed in there. Thats just a guess though.

1. Map for GvG.
GvG has little to do with WvW anyway.
Sooner than you might think, but not nearly as soon as we would like. That’s as much as I can say.
Seems to me that’s the kind of info you would put in a “6 month plan” blog post…
Maybe he’d like to …

If they gave it its own access option through the WvW menu, would that make it better?

First off, thanks to Devon for replying three times to this. He’s been busy on these forums the last few days.
For the rest of us, I think we have to simply look at what we do know. NCSoft gave the ok to funding for ArenaNet to develop more content for GW2.
These two week patches are very impressive in their scope, but I think everyone would prefer a major expansion (3-5 zones, new mega-boss fight) every six months so:
Theory 1: They are committed to the “Living Story” in that they want to evolve things to the point where there is an amount equal to an expansion.
Counterpoint: They are all temporary zones that can, and probably will, be recycled on a year by year basis. I hate to think that all these changes to the world are being worked on and then discarded. Where are the permanent changes that were promised
Theory 2: The actual monetary amount of the additional funding was pitiful and they are doing the best with the limited resources they have. Things like large WvW zone creation would take a 100% commitment from their development teams and would “freeze” PvE development.
Counterpoint: A simple statement of how they want to proceed in theory would be great. WvW map creation (let alone a whole 2nd or 3rd set) has to be a monster of a task and we appreciate that. We waited through the 5 year development cycle and the “it’s finished when it’s finished” development updates.
During the development ArenaNet had a “manifesto” for designing the game. We are looking for a “WvW manifesto” on what kind of things you want to do, what you know you can do, and what you are certain you will deliver on.
I played GW1, a game with a much more limited play structure, for 7 years. As a long time fan (and critic) I can tell you that this game’s longevity is largely linked to WvW with the PvE “end game” content being episodic and non-constant.
TL;DR We love what you (ANet) have done with WvW. We would like to see you continue to grow and nurture this wonderful and largely unique game format.

Why can’t you give us that kind of an answer on the skill delay issue? :/
Because the people working on that are in charge of those things. While we are doing as much as we can, which is not much, in specific terms of WvW to address this, it is a much more complicated and much more holistic problem than just WvW.
Are you also not allowed to talk about Guild vs Guild?
Or were you told to completely ignore the subject and act as if it was never mentioned or asked for? Because that is what you seem to do.
I spoke in person to a certain WvW developer back in February, and I was able to tease out that new maps were only at the concept stage (artists drawing pictures for ideas) and not to expect any new WvW maps in 2013.
It is really unfortunate that the WvW team is under-staffed and under-resourced because WvW has desperately needed new maps since about a month after launch. Seems to me like WvW players have been leaving the game in fairly substantial numbers throughout 2013, probably due to lack of new content, and there might not be a whole lot of PvPers left to enjoy the new maps by the time they finally arrive. It really is a shame.

And yet they kitten servers up wasting slots with it.
New maps are great.. but we still don’t have a DECENT grouping system to use. With only TWO possible ways to group up in GW2 is a joke IMO. You need a proper system for private squads and guilds to run multiple groups. A 5-man group or zerg are horrible options.
Running separate multiple groups beside each other, marking a “driver” and forced to use a 3rd party voice program for dedicated communications is a horrible grouping system for a modern day MMO. But that’s the most effective way currently to run multiple groups together in GW2.
So we get new maps that we STILL can’t group up in the way we like…. they need guild only or private squads in the game.

Best, ever.
