You’re gonna get queues on all T1 servers. At reset night it can be pretty bad. I suggest skipping Tier 1 and going to Tier 2. Some great action last time we were there.

You will only have queue issues on friday night in T1.

Most other nights you can WvW on at least 2 maps with no queue and very small queues on the other maps on all the T1 servers.

Queue problems are last year and friday night. Even 5 or 6 hours after reset the queues start to go away completely.

I’m on SoR oceanic prime time… I have rarely seen any queues when I’m on. The commanders though are pretty organised and manage to hop from map to map when needed to support our forces.

When I think about the lack of queues and where SoR actually sits, I’m pretty amazed at the obvious skill and dedication that goes into it.

Speaking about queues on T1 during reset, I think the OP needs to see the funny rant topic about the looooooong queues on T1

Played during NA primetime today. It is very weird as EB has 0 or 1 commander but there was a nice group of four running in FA BL. I’m also sub 80 so maybe at 80 I can solo more stuff during off hours. Not sure, but I hate queues so much I rather be T2/T3 than sitting in a queue.

All 3 realms seem to be fine. I know from the 3 to 8pm crowd, BG suffers the most , SoR and JQ both around the 4.30 to 6.30pm slot.

As far as NA time, all 3 are formidable forces.

As for SEA, JQ wins, but it is a close fight with SoR.

As for EU, im not really sure.

I say the question that sticks anyone to any particular area are the guild and server attributes.

So in answer, all 3 have que times, are good and are friendly. I have friends across all 3 different worlds and the decision is tuff.

If you go to T1, I suggest you pick either BG or SoR. JQ aren’t lacking any numbers that I’m aware of. :P

The difference between Jq, bg and sor is FOO from Jq and the rest of their SEA crew. So you will get a good fight whichever of the three you go to. In terms of stability… Jq and sor would be the two to choose from.

This pretty much covers it. Whichever one you choose I think you will have fun on all 3 servers. JQ does have the best coverage and it mainly stems from FOO during Asian prime, so if you play on the times they are on you might find it boring there as both BG nor SOR have the numbers to cover more than 1 map against JQ at that time. And FOO are an incredibly formidable guild.

BG got hit hard recently as well with JQ focusing them pretty hard during that time which would shake anyone’s morale. But that’s what you wear on your shoulders being 2nd, and SOR are now facing that (but we are fighting on!).

JQ and SOR probably field a bit more during oceanic from what I have seen with BG struggling a bit at that time.

NA is probably the most even but SOR probably do have the most NA.

Hope that gives you a bit more of an overview. JQ and SOR are probably the most stable of the 3 (just going off history).

You can keep an eye on the score updates in the JQ / SOR / BG thread to give you an idea but I wouldn’t pay too much weight to any of the comments there as it seems to be a troll / slandering fest.

And as a final note, if you do want a friendly supportive server with lots of laughs (we had people singing on TS last night and lots of laughs, consider SOR

HIRE is one of the guilds that runs in oceanic on SOR. We’re not huge, but we’re out there.

I’m partial to SOR, mainly because

1) nice name
2) TSYM and AFS are there
3) they aren’t in danger of dropping out again

Here’s the graph of SoR’s queue times over last weekend of all maps. If you compare it to JQ’s and BG’s, you’ll see SoR has the least queues overall. Meanwhile the score tells the story about how they rank vs the other two Tier 1 servers.

I play some NA on SoR, but mainly Oceanic/Sea. Never have any issues with queues except a bit of wait time on NA reset. I take part on SoR teamspeak (if you’re not you’re missing out on the heights of what WvW can be), run solo, scout, havok, with all the major guilds, etc etc and never find us lacking for anything WvW is meant to offer.

JQ’s score is pretty much down to coverage, and their SEA Foo zerg is an epic PvDoor experience.

BG is made up of SoS transfers after the SoS campaign exploded. So BG is full of shrapnel from that, which I think a lot of people have been weary to outright say in this thread.

One trend I have noticed of late on Tier 1 is BG and JQ’s disdain? avoidance? whateveryouwanttocallit for actual fighting. JQ (especialy their oceanic/sea zergs) will disengage from a camp/tower/keep the moment we SoR show up to fight them, moving immediately to the next camp/tower/keep even if they outnumber us. As for BG, I’ve noticed a tendency for their zergs to avoid open combat and flee to walls/siege for hours on end, even if, again, they outnumber us. Perfectly valid tactics, not QQ’ing or complaining, just a heads up that in Tier 1, while there’s a lot of action, sometimes there’s a whole lot of passive action too… Truly Warfare at its finest.

JQ & BG’s queue times

If you’re going to T1 looking for a good time you’ll find nothing but disappointing skill lag and mega-zergs. I was on two T1 servers before moving to FA and couldn’t be happier here.

Come BG we’re fun. Only time non-NA prime, I see queues here is BG BL during SEA Prime and that is usually because ND and MERC are both on the same map. Outnumbered most of the time as much as the other servers cry foul but good luck on your server selection.

ALS has 500 members and 40 players minimum on all day, we welcome everyone and do heaps of WvW and PvP. It does not matter where you are from, I’m from AUS and lots of the people I play with are from NA. Not much queuing (except some reset nights), the server is a really great and friendly server and just because we are tier 5 doesn’t mean nothing happens in WvW, Because alot of the time there is an ALS commander in every map always starting a riot =D.

For the sake of competition I suggest

BG in T1 – They are an excellent server with a tight knit core community of guilds.
KA in T2 – They have the best off-primetime coverage in T2 when WM is playing and bolstering their NA would make T2 even better than it is
DB in T3 – DB needs more NA players and again like Kaineng has great offpeak coverage.

I will never understand why anyone in their right mind would actually want to transfer to a higher tier.

SEA/EU:

SoR - 100 players
BG - 80 players
JQ - 3.5 full maps

BG has been hurting the last 7-10 days. They came into T1 pretty refreshed. The signs are starting to show that they are hurting from the overtime they have put in since coming back to T1. Tonight, for instance, they are running a sub 90 PPT during Oceanic where previously they had regularly been topping this timezone.

SOR has been getting stronger and stronger since coming to T1. They have picked up some large guilds and players. They look pretty close to full coverage if they keep players coming in. They need more during Oceanic/Asian and Euro. They have some decent numbers during Oceanic on any given night, with TYSM now there, but they could probably do with a few more during this timezone. They start to fall off more during Euro.

for those advocating for your own servers, please do so and in a constructive manner. no need to drag other servers down. there’s enough bickering in the T1 thread down in the depths of that giant abyss. if you can ignore those on the forums, T1 is not a bad place. i love SoR and have much respect for both JQ and BQ. as well as various T2 servers I’ve had the honor of playing against. let’s get back to helping OP decide which server to go to and not arguing over who’s server is better or worse for our own agenda.

in terms of queues, apart from reset night, i usually don’t get huge queues. i play Oceanic (am from Hong Kong, so GMT+8). there will be the oddball 5 – 10 min queue depending on hwo the match up is running.

we’ve gained a few awesome guilds in this timeslot, as well as players working together more, becoming more organized and learning how to play against our opponents so it’s been more and more fun each time. though i will say that JQ still definitely has superior numbers at these times. not to say we can’t hold our own though, both BG and SoR.

though, at the same time, i would also advise you to stay in T2 for now and test it out even more since you said you’ve been gone for so long.

JQ are the forever dominators with 3x ppl as much as the others,
SoR have just been climbing and climbing and never actually have gone ‘down’ due to people transferring so much
BG have gained a few people, and used to be able to crush SoR in t2, but they didn’t get as much transfers.

Our guild was a SOS original, but we ended up transferring to SOR after the downfall of SOS. SOR has an absolutely wonderful community, fantastic leadership, and overall has been a great experience for us. JQ’s quadruple penile implant of a recruitment effort has definitely left things unbalanced, but all SOR needs is some SEA and EU transfers to flip the script.

If you transfer to SOR, all of your wildest dreams will come true.

Waiting for rawnoodles to spam the jade quarry recruitment info I was on sea of sorrows from launch currently on seafarers rest. I think sanctum of rall or blackgate should be the only considerations based on jq dont need any people for the time being.

From what i would do id go sor based on my guild is now on it, from a better match environment/competition standpoint seems bg could use some extra manpower atm but is it a safe transfer im not to sure.
Tier 2 was fun my short stay in the tier soo perhaps stick it out longer get a feel for it.

You should stay on FA. They are an excellent server with very capable guilds and excellent WvW.

(they may have 1 or 2 too many forum warriors…. but that is ok).

If you are referring to the guilds Agg and FoE, they left because they didn’t like the zerg that T1 can be. They wanted smaller fights, nothing to do with the server, everything to do with being in T1.

I don’t think we lost any others, not that I know of at least.

A lot of them are west coast NA and play very late into the evening/night, so I’m guessing that’d be it. In their peaks, they usually fielded more than that.

In T4 we still have queue times and skill lag (although only in giant Stonemist Castle battles). I wouldn’t transfer to any server in the top three tiers for those two reasons alone. If you want to avoid those issues completely you should stick to T5 and below. Why spend money to sit in a queue and then only be able to auto-attack because none of your other skills will work?

I can’t imagine having epic battles with the skill lag issue. It seems that whenever the number of combatants gets in the 100-150 range the game just breaks and skill lag sets in. For us it’s generally Stonemist Castle battles. However, there have been a few times when three large forces (40-60 each) met in the open field and skill lag was an issue there as well.

I’m assuming the larger population servers have fights like this on a regular basis meaning skill lag affects their engagements on a regular basis. I just can’t see how anyone would willingly sign up for that kind of abuse. I’d steer clear of the top 3-4 tiers until it was confirmed the skill lag issue was fixed.

When FoE transferred to BG, I heard they as a guild were dying. I remember a post from one of them saying they could field at best, 10 players on BG. Probably true since I haven’t seen a FoE zerg on BG. Back on SoS, when SoR first entered T1, they ran a huge zerg, though, if I can recall…

I moved to SOR 3 months ago. I feel SOR is so friendly and the community is amazing.
We (Asia guild) sometimes play WvW with some NA guilds on Asia Primetime, its cool
Its so good that NA work with us and be friends with us. ^^
