It’s bad enough that the main commanders who stayed through everything possible(including Season1 burnout) have all stopped playing the game on Yaks Bend. Maybe it’s Season 2 burnout, but it’s lasting even longer than Season 1 burnout did, and I’m guessing even less will come back to the game this time around.

Ironically, people bought this game because Anet did what they wanted to when they developed it. Somehow, people feel empowered because they play the game, and believe they should be able to dictate what the company that makes the game is doing.

I don’t pretend to speak for anybody other than myself; but this IS NOT why I bought GW2.
I bought the game because I (like many others) fell for the pre-game statements of what this game was going to be.
The only way I would like to dictate the direction of the game is to say “Give us what you told us we were going to get when we paid our money.”

Anet has to consider a lot of factors when they alter the game, not just 1 persons views. They do research, they pay attention to what is already popular in the game, they listen to people, etc.

Incorrect. They offer the pretence of doing research, and when the results don’t tally with their preconcieved plans, the results are ignored and/or shuffled under the carpet.

Also, whether the WvW team wants to do something or not, they have to get approval from people above them, who might not even play the game. And, in the end, it all goes back to NC Soft, who published and funded the game.

This is tanatamount to saying that our input is pointless: The end point is pre-determined by the NCSoft bean-counters; and any suggestions that we, as regular players, may offer is fundamentaly irrelevant if it differs from their plan.
… Oh, by the way way, NCSoft may have made the initial investment; but it is the ignored people like me who are helping them recoup their costs and move into profit.

So, yeah, people can get angry, people can cry, but they should just take a business class, and maybe some game development classes, or read some articles on www.gamasutra.com about how the game industry is ran. It is always easy to be an arm chair developer, but the actual process is anything but easy.

I don’t pretend to be a game developer.
This is a thread in the WvW forum, so if some developers come out and say “Hey guys, we understand what you are asking for in WvW, but it just can’t be done”, and then gave the technical reasons, then I am sure that most of us on this forum would accept that, and move on.
We wouldn’t like it, but at least we would know the reasons.

Enjoy the game for what it is, and what you bought it for.

You didn’t buy GW2 when it came out, to boss around the developers, and to make them bow down to you.

No, I didn’t. I bought GW2 before it came out on the basis of what the development team told me it was going to be. I hate to use words like this, but they lied.
I know it wasn’t the developers who knowingly lied to me – that lie goes well above their pay-grade, but nevertheless, NCSoft took my money on the back of that lie.
As we never see the members of the board of NCSoft on this forum, I am limited to directing my ire at those who perpetrated the lie (either knowingly, or otherthwise.)

No one buys a single player game, or a console / PC shooter, to boss around the company that makes those games.

I hate real-life illustrations on gaming forums, but you force me to make one:

If Renault.com assures me that all Meganes have a 5-speed gearbox, and I buy a Megane, only to find that it has a 4-speed box;, then I am surely in a position to take my complaint up with Renault.
Not with the dealership that sold me the car, but with Renault head office.
Renaults’ defence of “We changed the specifications of the car after you had paid for it, but didn’t bother to tell you as we already had your money” would not stnd-up in court.

Get real people. If you don’t like the game, if it is really causing you this much unhappiness, then play something else. It isn’t a job (unless you are a gold farmer), it is entertainment. If I am watching a crappy movie, I just stop it and try a different movie.

If it was just a crappy movie, then I would accept everything you have said, as whether the movie is crap is nothing but a personal opinion.
However, to use your analogy; I paid to see a SciFi / Horror movie, and I am being presented with a RomCom / Chick-Flick.

I expect to get one of those “you have been a naughty boy” infracions for this post.

The only thing we can do, is to stop playing GW2. But we love WvW, so that’s not an option.

People are very angry. ANET is just trying to hide the fact by infracting and deleting most posts like this.

All of my “angry” posts from earlier today have been deleted. Every single one of them. Even the thread they were in where the other people were simply asking the same question as the OP, albeit much more politely than me.

Just realized that my most upvoted post seems to be deleted. They sure are triggerhappy.

I Just want to point out, to who says you bought it as it was, that it’s not actually true.
I bought it for what they advertised it, which turned out quite different, and makes a big difference.

But yeah, no point anymore in getting angry. This is how it is and it’s quite depressing, but luckily for me i don’t have much time anyway so i just enjoy some fights now and then and i don’t really care

This. Anet is by far the worst company when it comes to taking criticism, any post that isn’t praising them is taken down. If they spent half as much effort into fixing things and improving the games as they do monitoring their forums, the game would be a much better place.

You would say 6 months is enought time to make one icon colorfull. I cant even imagine what that longer waiting period is.
Then we get another WvW coordinator, or what was his function. Well he posted few times how everything is going fine and everybody is happy. Then he silenced. That was 4 months ago.
And then we had some posts from other. Sadly just few days before she left the company. Basicaly she said Farewell.

And well thats it. They come positive, but dont have single answer, so they left in few days and after few posts.

I keep thinking about that last wvw update vid on twitch. If you know how to read body language then you will know enough about the future of wvw. Dont get me wrong, I want to see it positive but I dont think anything good will happen soon. Perfect way to handle this is to lower your expectations and try to enjoy your time playing.

Despite the success of the game mode, WvW is not a priority for Anet. It never was.

For a good long while, WvW accounted for most of the forum activity for this game. Instead of shifting their priorities based on player preference, they just shut down that part of the forum. They abandoned a strong and loyal community, because they did not want to shift their priorities to accommodate that community.

That is why I’m not on here angry. Anet has lowered my expectations to the point where I don’t expect anything anymore. Living Story and sPvP is their focus, WvW is a side feature (like jumping puzzles).

I have been playing this game since beta. 90% of it spent in WvW.
I quit after season 2. I tried to come back after this last patch, and I just can’t take it anymore. The state of WvW, the state of my profession (mesmer and its 40+ bugs), the state of the communications between ANet and the community, the state of the game overall. It’s just too much. I’m done.

I guess this image represents most of the players in this game.

yea , i gave up on anet a long time ago. Barely log on anymore. Its too bad anet never focused on wvw. It had Sooo MUch Potential to be something Grand.

Plenty of people are angry and disillusioned with wvw. But what’s the point of expressing that? It won’t fix anything. Anet isn’t going to suddenly say “Wow, those folks are really mad! We need to do something about this!” Well they will but the “fix” will be in the form of forum infractions and bans.

Most of the wvw playerbase has accepted their role in the grand scheme of things. It is our duty to toil on in terrible conditions week after week so that pvers can have more HP friday morning. If they gave us any sort of reward like tomes from badges we might get silly ideas about new maps.

i can’t be angry because they are loosing money . they are failing to keep their gem buyers and i will never be angry with them.

maybe i was a bit angry when i realized their methods ( spies in guilds , followers just to learn our wvw secrets to fix what they forgot to close , wvw anet employees playing their game visible or not with us ) but most of all i was disappointed because they are spending so much human resources and money ( our money from gems ) to so stupid things and they leaved us with the same gold shrink-er laggy wvw maps for over 2 years .

i am not angry because they have no clue what they should be their alpha priorities , but just disappointed , because they left so much time to pass without any real change to the right way in wvw , in guilds , in gvg , in alliances , in particle effects , to satisfy all the type of wvw players and against real hackers and they didn’t act the right time.

the fail from the other new mmos saved the game until now , but for how long ?

p.s. before someone say that pve is good … check the living story forums and check how well is going the pve too. better no updates from the bad that have the pve … a whole patch just to bring living story management , a furstated jumping puzzle and an account bound armor for www commanders and only ?

Seeing how the last ones did no good at all, and all suggestions given were ignored, and the fact WvW has had no real updates with ANYTHING we have asked for….No one cares, as a matter of fact, I have not logged on in some time, few weeks now, all I ever did was WvW and bought gems a few times a week in most cases, however it’s been probably 2 months since I have bought any now. I see it going no where and probably will not be buying anymore gems and see a really good chance I will not be coming back to the game much. I know myself along with others are already on a full blown hunt for another game to jump ship to.

I can’t see beyond the new wvw skin I got.

The reason I’m not angry is because there is none to be angry at. I’m not saying that the devs are incompetent (or maybe I am), but that there are none. I can bet everything I own in-game there is no dedicated WvW dev.
The team that made the game are long gone and we are left with second rate devs.

I dont think it’s that people have stopped reading as much as people have stopped replying. After almost 2 years worth of either being ignored or just getting copy paste responses back, a large portion of the player-base dont feel there is any use in taking about ways to improve the game when it will ultimately yield nothing.

Its unfortunate. I am a hardcore gw fan and anet fan. I have been waiting for gw2 since it was announced in 2006. I had been playing gw1 since beta until the release of gw2. Prior to that i had played other games but the most noteworthy being DAoC with its revolutionary RvR system. When i found out gw2 would be doing something similar i had high hopes that my love of rvr would be satiated. For a time it was.

I had promised myself that GW 2 would probably be the last mmo i invest in because i believed in Anet as a company from how they handled things with gw1. Best devs and immediate fixes/balances/patches (excluding the shadowform debacle).

Now i find myself wondering when another true DAoC RvR stlye game will come along. /wishes for camelot unchained.

Nope months without anything. Still surprise A-net has been ignoring wvw for so long. Thought wvw would at least get one of those before/after season but no.Not even a minor update.

An interesting thing I noticed last night, when you compare the last time a dev posted in WvW to other forum areas like PvP, Living World, gates of maguuma, general discusson etc..

WvW it’s been 3 months, while the rest have either been a week or less. Not only that, when you look at things like profession balance, it’s a ghost town in there as well, which by the way is also 3 months or so.

Now I might be biased in saying this, but it’s in my opinion that the 2 biggest things that need addressing in this game are WvW and profession balance. Ironically, neither of them (or addressing them I should say) will make them any money.
